<p>In Sindh, over 38,000 cases were reported with Punjab accounting for over 37,000 cases. In Islamabad, there have been nearly 5,000 cases.</p>

<p>In Balochistan there were 295 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of cases to over 6,500 in the province even as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities declared wearing face masks was mandatory in public hospitals.</p>

<p>Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities had reported that it had conducted over 3,000 tests and the testing capacity had doubled.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Sindh's health department has said that eighty per cent of coronavirus cases have been reported in Karachi which has over 30,000 cases.</p>

<p>Karachi reported over 1,400 cases on Sunday with authorities declaring that there were over 15,000 active COVID-19 cases.</p>

<p>The Abbottabad health authorities said that 40 per cent COVID-19 patients in the ICUs have recovered.</p>

<p>Russia had also seen a spurt in cases in eastern Siberia even as President Putin ordered field hospitals in Zabaikalye&nbsp;which has 1,321 confirmed cases.</p>

<p>Although infections in Russia are at a record high&nbsp;but the death toll hasn't reached as high as other Western nations with the country recording over 5,500 fatalities.</p>

<p>Amid the infection rate, the World Health Organisation(WHO) had said last week that the number of coronavirus cases was slowly declining in Russia.</p>

<p>WHO Russia representative Melita Vujnovic had said: "We are seeing a good, albeit slow, decline" in the number of infections in Russia including the capital Moscow," while adding, "we are hoping that the epidemic will continue to decline further."</p>

<p>Last Wednesday, Russia had reported &nbsp;8,536 new coronavirus cases and 178 deaths in the last 24 hours as Moscow which is widely known as the epicenter of the virus recording 1,842 new cases.</p>

<p>According to authorities, 195,957 people have recovered from the virus in Russia. The country recorded 5,000 total deaths last week even as as authorities eased the lockdown and prepared to kickstart the economy.</p>

<p>31 years down the line there's no such balancing act. America not only wants China to acknowledge the Tiananmen massacre. It is slapping sanctions over what's happening in Hong Kong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Donald Trump, now the president of the US held a very different view in 1989. Then, he endorsed China's crackdown at Tiananmen Square. He called the protests, a "riot".</p>

<p>And he praised China for showing what he called the "power of strength".</p>

<p>Then there was the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher was in power. On the day of the massacre she said: "It is a reminder that despite some recent easing of east-west tension, a great gulf remains between the democratic and communist societies.''</p>

<p>The latest airline spat occurred after China's aviation authority decided to impose a limit on foreign airlines based on their activity as of March 12, since the United States had suspended all flights on that date their cap was set at zero, while Chinese carriers' continued their flights to the US.</p>

<p>The US retaliated by threatening to halt all Chinese passenger flights even as&nbsp;Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said the country's aviation authority was making "solemn representations" over the matter.</p>

<p>The coronavirus pandemic has come as Pakistan's best excuse to keep seeking more money.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Imran Khan secured millions and millions in relief aid to fight the COVID-19 pandemic&nbsp;while complaining about his own salary.</p>

<p>His government used the money to fund ventures for self-promotion. In March, the government spent 42 million Pak rupees to set up a digital wing to defend itself on the Internet. The Pakistan army jumped in too - it sought pay hikes for its army generals, a 20 per cent pay hike during a pandemic!</p>

<p>Pakistan also kept diverting money from coronavirus funds to keep business going. A fortnight ago it used 10 billion Pak rupees to pay loan interests on electricity bills. The Imran Khan government thought it will go unnoticed and that nobody would question its splurge - its embezzlement in the name of healthcare.</p>

<p>But the International Monetary Fund(IMF) has ordered Pakistan to freeze all non-development expenditures. It has given Islamabad straight directives to stick to fiscal consolidation due to the high and unsustainable public debt.</p>

<p>The Pakistan government has been asked to undertake massive fiscal adjustments of up to 1,150 billion Pakistan rupees. The IMF says it is necessary to bring down the primary deficit at negative 0.4 per cent for this year's budget.</p>

<p>This directive is a part of IMF's $6 billion bailout for the debt-ridden Pakistan economy - a rescue act that Pakistan PM Imran Khan had whole-heartedly embraced. The IMF says that Pakistan will have to make major adjustments in its expenditures.</p>

<p>It has singled out Pakistan's defence expenditure. The IMF says that Pakistan must freeze salaries of government employees and also its defence budget.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Pakistan army had sought a 20 per cent pay hike despite the massive economic crisis, they probably need the money to capture mountains as Imran Khan once famously said. The fact is Pakistan tried all it could - it obtained concessions, bailouts and debt relief but not once did it address predatory Chinese investments.</p>

<p>The result is for all to see as&nbsp;the soaring account deficit has become an existential threat and fulfilling conditions of the IMF bailout won't be an easy task.</p>

Prime Minister Imran Khan secured millions and millions in relief aid to fight the COVID-19 pandemic while complaining about his own salary. His government used the money to fund ventures for self-promotion. In March, the government spent 42 million Pak rupees to set up a digital wing to defend itself on the Internet. The Pakistan army jumped in too - it sought pay hikes for its army generals, a 20 per cent pay hike during a pandemic! Pakistan also kept diverting money from coronavirus funds to keep business going. A fortnight ago it used 10 billion Pak rupees to pay loan interests on electricity bills. The Imran Khan government thought it will go unnoticed and that nobody would question its splurge - its embezzlement in the name of healthcare. But the International Monetary Fund(IMF) has ordered Pakistan to freeze all non-development expenditures. It has given Islamabad straight directives to stick to fiscal consolidation due to the high and unsustainable public debt. The Pakistan government has been asked to undertake massive fiscal adjustments of up to 1,150 billion Pakistan rupees. The IMF says it is necessary to bring down the primary deficit at negative 0.4 per cent for this year's budget. This directive is a part of IMF's $6 billion bailout for the debt-ridden Pakistan economy - a rescue act that Pakistan PM Imran Khan had whole-heartedly embraced. The IMF says that Pakistan will have to make major adjustments in its expenditures. It has singled out Pakistan's defence expenditure. The IMF says that Pakistan must freeze salaries of government employees and also its defence budget. The Pakistan army had sought a 20 per cent pay hike despite the massive economic crisis, they probably need the money to capture mountains as Imran Khan once famously said. The fact is Pakistan tried all it could - it obtained concessions, bailouts and debt relief but not once did it address predatory Chinese investments. The result is for all to see as the soaring account deficit has become an existential threat and fulfilling conditions of the IMF bailout won't be an easy task.

<p>"I think we are going to actually be back higher next year than ever before, and the only thing that can stop us is bad policy," the president said.</p>

<p>According to the Labour Department, the unemployment rate dropped to 13.3 per cent even as the virus continues to spread.</p>
