6 Everyday Food Items And The Best Time To Consume Them

One should not start the day with simple carbs like table sugar as they increase blood sugar levels, disrupt glucose-insulin cycles and lead to energy crashes.

Fruits also contain simple carbs, however, they also have micronutrients, so it is advisable to consume them during mid-morning or early evening but not as the first meal, or at night.

Curd is a major source of vegetarian protein. It also has cooling properties which makes it a great addition to the meal during the summer.

Milk contains two types of proteins: casein and whey. Casein is a kind of slow-digesting protein and is beneficial for fasting situations like sleep. If milk is consumed at night, it provides amino acids which support muscle protein synthesis.

The glycaemic index of rice is very high which leads to a quick conversion to glucose and also spikes the blood sugar and leaves a person feeling hungry. If rice is consumed in the daytime, the carbohydrates present in it get consumed in day-to-day chores.

Pulses and beans are rich in carbohydrates and fibre and can be included in the diet at night to promote satiety.

Inland Taipan, also known as ‘Western Taipan’, is found in central east Australia’s semi-arid region. It has the most toxic venom.

Eastern brown snake, which is a species native to New Guinea and Central America, can grow up to 2 metres. It is the second most venomous snake.

Coastal Taipan is found in various habitats like open woodlands and monsoon forests. This species is known to hunt small birds and mammals.

Tiger snake is a huge and highly venomous snake which is found in Tasmania’s coastal island. They are known for their yellow and black colour bands which resemble a tiger.

The Black Tiger snake, which is part of the cobra family, had a deadly venom that contains a nerve paralyser and blood clotting agents, which can kill human beings.

On February 16, he was found liable for fraudulently inflating his net worth to secure better insurance and loan terms.

The $175 million bond was backed by the Knight Specialty Insurance Company, wrote an attorney for the Los Angeles-based firm in a court filing on Monday (April 1).

“As promised, President Trump has posted bond,” said Alina Habba, the former commander of chief’s lawyer, Alina Habba, in a statement. “He looks forward to vindicating his rights on appeal and overturning this unjust verdict," he added.

The judge, who was overseeing the criminal hush money trial of Donald Trump, imposed a gag order to include family members of the Manhattan district attorney and family members of the court, as per the latest ruling.

The ruling came after Trump made comments against the daughter of Judge Juan Merchan. The judge warned that the rhetoric of Trump threatens to instil fear in those who are part of the proceedings but might pull out for their loved ones.

“The average observer, must now, after hearing defendant’s recent attacks, draw the conclusion that if they become involved in these proceedings, even tangentially, they should worry not only for themselves, but for their loved ones as well,” wrote Merchan.

“Such concerns will undoubtedly interfere with the fair administration of justice and constitute a direct attack on the Rule of Law itself," he added.

“It is no longer just a mere possibility or a reasonable likelihood that there exists a threat to the integrity of the judicial proceedings. The threat is very real. Admonitions are not enough, nor is reliance on self-restraint,” he said.

Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group on Tuesday (April 1) warned that Israel will have to pay back for striking the country's consulate in Damascus in which high-level Iran Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) were killed.

Hezbollah has been engaging in cross-border firing with Israel on a daily basis to support its ally Hamas since the Gaza war started in October.

"Certainly, this crime will not pass without the enemy receiving punishment and revenge," said Hezbollah, in a statement.

In the strikes allegedly carried out by Israel, seven IRGC members - which included high-ranking officials Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi - were killed, said the IRGC.

Meanwhile, Britain-based war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that 11 people died in the strikes, which included eight Iranians, two Syrians and one Lebanese.

A lower death toll was given by Iran's ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari, who said to the Iranian state TV that "at least five people were killed in the attack which was carried out by F-35 fighter jets" which launched six missiles at the consulate.

Hezbollah, in its statement, said Zahedi was "one of the first to support, sacrifice, and persevere for many years to develop and advance the work of the resistance (Hezbollah) in Lebanon".

Iran fumes in anger over high-ranking official's death

According to the Observatory, Zahedi was the leader of Iran's elite Quds Force for Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. It added that he, along with his aide, his deputy and the Quds Force chief of staff for Palestine, Syria and Lebanon were killed in the attack.

Israel declined to comment on the reported attack, however, Iranian officials said that a stiff response would be given which further escalated fears of more violence between Israel and allies of Iran in the wake of the Gaza war.

Iran's ambassador, Akbari, promised that the attack "will lead to our decisive response", adding that "the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate shows the reality of the Zionist entity which recognises no international laws and does all that is inhumane to achieve its goals".

Court gives two rulings on abortion ban

Florida's Republican-appointed justices on Monday (April 1) agreed by 6-1 that the constitution of the state - especially its privacy protections - did not apply to access to abortion.

The court's ruling upheld the existing 15-week abortion ban which was passed in Florida in 2022.

Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis had almost a year ago signed into law a six-week abortion ban. However, it was decided that the bill would be placed on hold till the legal challenges of the 15-week ban were cleared.

After Monday's ruling, Florida can place into effect the six-week ban within 30 days. Lawsuits challenging the ban have been filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood, which has its own clinics that provide abortions.

The Florida Supreme Court, in a separate ruling on Monday (April 1), also decided by 4-3 that a proposed constitutional amendment which will protect access to abortion in the state can be part of the ballots in November when the country's general election is held.

In the ballot question, the Floridians will have to vote 'yes' or 'no' to a statement that reads, "No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health."

Viability refers to the time when an unborn child or foetus is likely to survive outside the uterus, which is generally around 24 weeks.

It added that "this amendment does not change the Legislature's constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion".

A new world record was announced by scientists in South Korea in sustaining temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius in a nuclear fusion experiment. This is seven times hotter than the core of the sun.

A new world record was announced by scientists in South Korea in sustaining temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius in a nuclear fusion experiment. This is seven times hotter than the core of the sun. This nuclear fusion aims to replicate the reaction which makes it possible for the sun and other stars to shine. It was carried out by fusing together two atoms so that huge amounts of energy were unleashed. Also Read: NASA plans to launch three rockets into the solar eclipse next week; Here's why Fusion, generally referred to as the holy grail of climate solutions clean energy, can provide limitless energy without releasing any carbon that pollutes the planet and leads to climate warming. How the fusion energy is achieved? Generally, fusion energy is achieved using a donut-shaped reactor which is known as a tokamak. In this, scientists heat the hydrogen variants at extraordinarily high temperatures to create a plasma. Speaking to CNN, KSTAR Research Centre at the Korean Institute of Fusion Energy (KFE) director Si-Woo Yoon said that high-density plasmas and high temperatures in which reactions can take place for long durations are important for nuclear fusion reactors' future. He said that sustaining these high temperatures “has not been easy to demonstrate due to the unstable nature of the high-temperature plasma." KFE’s fusion research device - KSTAR - which they call as an “artificial sun,” sustained plasma as well as temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius for 48 seconds during tests between December 2023 and February 2024, and broke the previous record of 30 seconds which was achieved in 2021. Watch: Pluto: A fascinating icy world beyond planetary status The KFE scientists said the time duration was extended by tweaking the process in which they used tungsten instead of carbon in the “diverters" for extracting impurities and heat produced by the fusion reaction. KSTAR's ultimate aim is to sustain plasma temperatures to 100 million degrees for at least 300 seconds by 2026, which, as per Si-Woo Yoon is “a critical point” to be able to scale up fusion operations. The experiments being carried out by the scientists in South Korea will feed into the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor's development in southern France, which is also called ITER, the biggest tokamak in the world. KSTAR’s work “will be of great help to secure the predicted performance in ITER operation in time and to advance the commercialisation of fusion energy,” said Si-Woo Yoon. The razor-toothed sandworms which were seen inhabiting the deserts of Arrakis in the movie “Dune: Part Two” have stark similarities with something that existed as a predator on Earth nearly 500 million years ago.

These ancient Selkirkia worms, which are likely to have crawled on Earth during the Cambrian Explosion, existed inside long and cone-shaped tubes and were among the most common predators present on the seafloor.

Speaking about the worm, Karma Nanglu, a palaeontologist at Harvard University, said, “If you were a small invertebrate coming across them, it would have been your worst nightmare. It’s like being engulfed by a conveyor belt of fangs and teeth.”

However, these ravenous worms disappeared from Earth hundreds of millions of years ago.

Analysed fossils of these worms reveal secrets hidden for years

A trove of fossils, recovered from Morocco, was recently analysed and revealed that these predators, which were only 1 or 2 inches in length, existed much longer than earlier believed.

In a paper which was published in the journal Biology Letters on Tuesday (April 2), Nanglu's team said that the new species of Selkirkia worm lived for more than 25 million years after they were believed to have gone extinct.

Nanglu and his colleagues found the tubular worms while sifting through fossils kept in the collection of Harvard’s Museum of Comparative Zoology.

The fossils belonged to Fezouata Formation in Morocco which is a deposit that belongs to the Early Ordovician period which started around 488 million years ago and spanned across 45 million years.

While looking into the specimens of the museum, they noticed various fiery-hued fossils of tapering tubes, which appeared identical to Selkirkia fossils, found in ancient Cambrian deposits like the Burgess Shale.

“We don’t expect this guy to be around any more. It’s 25 million years out of place," said Nanglu. After analysing it closely, it was confirmed that these were the tubes of a new species of Selkirkia worm.

The new species was named tsering, which means “long life” in the Tibetan language, by the researchers.

The new species not only enlarged Selkirkia worms' temporal record but also confirmed that they lived in environments which are closer to the South Pole, where Morocco was located in the Ordovician period.

As per the Royal Ontario Museum's paleontologist in Toronto Jean-Bernard Caron, who was not a part of the new paper, the discovery highlighted that few Cambrian creatures were able to exist even though diversity exploded in the Ordovician era.

“This new study adds to a growing body of evidence that many members of Cambrian communities continued to thrive during the following Ordovician period and were not quickly replaced as previous evolutionary models might have suggested,” he said.

In what seems like a fascinating piece of story straight out of a space-based film, scientists are now busy charting the best way out of our solar system.

Is it even possible to travel out of our solar system? Let's try to understand.

A giant bubble known as a heliosphere is made up of charged particles continuously released by the Sun. The boundary of this bubble serves as our solar system's boundary.

Hence, if humans wish to travel beyond our solar system and reach other stars, they first need to figure out a way to move beyond the heliosphere.

Now, in a breakthrough, a team of researchers has claimed to have found the best possible way out through this giant bubble.

Moving out of the giant bubble

According to scientists, the heliosphere protects everything which is present inside it, including astronauts, planets, satellites, and other bodies that belong to the dangerous cosmic radiation.

To this date, the scientists are not sure about its size or shape. They have defined the heliosphere as the region which remains directly under the influence of the Sun.

According to some, the bubble is shaped like a croissant and few others say it is spherical. Meanwhile, others claim that it has the shape of a beach ball or bullet. The confusion over its shape is because scientists have failed to determine its exact size while remaining inside it.

“We are like goldfish trying to understand the fishbowl from the inside,” said Sarah A. Spitzer, first author of the study and University of Michigan's research fellow.

“A future interstellar probe mission will be our first opportunity to really see our heliosphere, our home, from the outside, and to better understand its place in the local interstellar medium,” she added.

Mapping the way out from heliosphere

In the new study, scientists have claimed that to exit the heliosphere, a probe will have to follow the path that goes through the side of the tail end of the heliosphere.

The best way is to go out the side door so you can see how long it is from front to back,” said Marc Z. Kornbleuth, study author and a research scientist at Boston University.

Also Read: Space elevators similar to ‘skyhooks’ in Star Wars could soon exist in reality, experts suggest Now, in a breakthrough, a team of researchers has claimed to have found the best possible way out through this giant bubble. Moving out of the giant bubble According to scientists, the heliosphere protects everything which is present inside it, including astronauts, planets, satellites, and other bodies that belong to the dangerous cosmic radiation. Mapping the way out from heliosphere In the new study, scientists have claimed that to exit the heliosphere, a probe will have to follow the path that goes through the side of the tail end of the heliosphere. Bird Flu case in Texas: A rare case of bird flu in a human has been reported in Texas after the patient came in contact with the cattle, who was suspected to have been infected by the virus.

The announcement regarding the rare case was made after the federal agencies informed about the spread of the virus in dairy cattle across different states, which included Texas.

So, what were the symptoms of bird flu?

The Texas Department of State Health Services informed that only one symptom was seen in the patient which was eye inflammation.

The patient was last week tested and the results were confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over the weekend.

The patient is now being administered the antiviral medication oseltamivir which, as per the Mayo Clinic, is used for treating influenza A and B along with the swine flu.

According to Texas officials, human cases of bird flu, which are also called H5N1, generally have various symptoms which include mild health issues like respiratory symptoms, eye infection and severe problems like pneumonia. In the worst cases, it can also lead to death.

According to the CDC, this is the second such instance in which a person has contracted the bird flu in the United States. The flu generally infects wild birds, as the name suggests, however, it can also infect domestic species.

In a statement on Monday (April 2), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said, “This infection does not change the H5N1 bird flu human health risk assessment for the US general public, which CDC considers to be low.”

The agency further advised against the consumption of unpasteurised dairy products like raw milk or cheese from animals that have bird flu or are suspected to have infection.

“Commercial milk and meat is safe,” said Bender. "No milk from the infected cows entered the food supply," said Texas Commissioner Miller.
