A woman, who was apparently searching for ghosts as part of a TikTok stunt, was found dead in an isolated and abandoned church in Italy, said the police.

As per the police, the body of the 22-year-old French woman was soaked in the blood. The woman was reportedly in search of a haunted house, which is believed to be haunted by spirits.

The police found the body of the woman in a pool of blood in an abandoned church in the Aosta Valley of northern Italy over the weekend.

La Salle's police spokeswoman said that the woman had informed her parents about her plans before she left her home, which was located in the village close to Lyon.

According to police officials, the death of the victim is likely to have a connection with the ghost-hunting competition which has been taking place on social media platforms across France.

The police also suspected that the woman was trying to carry out the TikTok stunt when she unfortunately died.

There are two working theories with the police regarding the woman's death. One is that she may have been trying to carry out a social media stunt in the abandoned church and the other is that she was subjected to a "consented murder" or sacrifice.

The officers are in search of the young man who was reportedly with her. Meanwhile, two more missing persons reports have been filed with the police, which they suspect may have a link.

The police spokesperson said that they had spotted a male companion with the victim in the neighbourhood and both were dressed "like vampires".

The woman was reportedly wearing a sweatshirt underneath a black coat and beige leggings when the police found her. They also found a container of pink marshmallows as well as some goods which she had purchased from a nearby store next to the body.

When the dead body of the woman was found by a local person, she did not possess any phone or paperwork with her, as per the authorities.

A woman, who had called the eclipse “the epitome of spiritual warfare” in a post shared on an online platform, killed her partner at their apartment in Los Angeles on Monday (April 8) and then pushed her two children onto the freeway from a moving SUV, in which her infant daughter was killed.

According to Los Angeles police, 34-year-old Danielle Cherakiyah was posting on X as the recording artist with the moniker “Ayoka” and an astrology influencer, days before the killing.

She posted on April 4, “Get your protection on and your heart in the right place," on X. "The world is very obviously changing right now and if you ever needed to pick a side, the time to do right in your life is now. Stay strong you got this.”

Then on April 5, she wrote in all caps, “Wake up wake up the apocalypse is here. Everyone who has ears listen. Your time to choose what you believe is now.”

Several conspiracy theories, such as those about vaccines, and posts about the end of the world can also be seen on her social media.

The woman committed the act of stabbing her partner and throwing her kids hours before the eclipse reached its totality in Southern California, said Lt Guy Golan.

Police reject possibility of eclipse contributing to killings

Even though Johnson's posts have been reviewed by the detectives, the police have denied the possibility that the eclipse acted as a contributing or precipitating factor to the killings. "We just don’t know why she did what she did,” said Golan, while speaking to The Associated Press on Wednesday (April 10).

“We’ve taken all the facts we can, but without being able to interview her and without having something more tangible than a post on X, I don’t know how much weight you can give to somebody (saying) there’s an apocalypse and attribute it to one of the most horrific murders we’ve had in LA,” said Golan, who is leading the homicide unit investigating the case.

According to the authorities, Johnson and her 29-year-old partner Jaelen, Allen Chaney, had an argument late on Monday after which she stabbed him and fled away with the kids in a Porsche Cayenne.

After that, Johnson drove along Interstate 405 in Culver City and pushed her daughters out of the moving SUV around 4:30 am. The infant died on the spot and the older daughter, who also saw the stabbing, suffered injuries.

Johnson then drove to Redondo Beach where after half an hour she crashed into a tree. The LAPD is looking into the case and trying to understand if it was an apparent suicide or a solo crash.

Passengers who bought tickets for a special Delta flight, worth $1,150 to catch the sight of the eclipse from the sky were left disappointed.

The flight trip which took off from Austin to Dallas and Detroit had claimed that it would fly along the "path of totality" and capture a very rare view of the eclipse.

However, reports suggest that most of the passengers didn't even get a basic view of the eclipse from the flight as compared to those on the ground.

"I really don't think anybody on the plane actually caught the eclipse in full totality," said James Larounis, a travel industry expert on the Detroit flight, while speaking to the Business Insider.

At least three people have been killed and four are missing after a fire and explosion underground at a hydroelectric power plant in northern Italy on Tuesday (April 9), the local mayor said.

Italian utility group Enel confirmed that a fire had broken out on one of its transformers at its hydropower plant in Bargi, close to Bologna, in the early afternoon.

The fire brigade said earlier that an explosion had occurred around 3 pm (1300 GMT) at a dam on Lake Suviana, one of the three artificial lakes that feed the power station.

Marco Masinara, the mayor of the nearby town of Camugnano, said three dead bodies had been found and four people were missing, while three were "badly hurt" and taken to hospital.

He added that the initial indication was that the incident was probably caused by a defect in a turbine.

Enel has not commented on the cause. The company said the dam basin had not been damaged and that the plant was offline at the time of the incident so there was no impact on electricity supply.

Video supplied by firefighters showed thick smoke rising from the plant.

The deaths are likely to fuel concerns expressed by trade unions about workplace safety in Italy. Two of the country's largest unions were already due to hold a four-hour nationwide strike on Thursday to show dissatisfaction with the issue.

In a high-profile accident in February, five workers were killed and three seriously injured while building a supermarket in the city of Florence.

Enel said it had evacuated workers from the Bargi site and was coordinating with rescue workers from the fire department.

Masinara said flames erupted below ground level, adding that "the plant is all below the level of the lake, at about 30 metres' depth".

He told Italy's Ansa news agency that initial information suggested that work was being done on a turbine at the time of the accident. "I have been told that the fire brigade are trying to get access but are having difficulties," Masinara added.

The troubles for Boeing just don't seem to end. The airline manufacturer is now facing new pressure after safety concerns were raised by a whistleblower with the US regulators regarding the manufacturing of some of its planes.

Boeing has been accused by engineer Sam Salehpour of taking shortcuts in the manufacturing of its 787 and 777 jets. The engineer claimed that he was "threatened with termination" after he raised concerns with the bosses.

However, Boeing said that the claims were "inaccurate" and expressed confidence in the safety of the aircraft.

"The issues raised have been subject to rigorous engineering examination under [Federal Aviation Administration] oversight," said the company.

"This analysis has validated that these issues do not present any safety concerns and the aircraft will maintain its service life over several decades," it added.

What did the whistleblower say?

Boeing engineer Sam Salehpour alleged that the aircraft manufacturer adopted shortcuts while manufacturing its 777 and 787 Dreamliner jets, and the risks can turn catastrophic once the aeroplane gets older.

The complaint raised by the whistleblower was first reported by The New York Times.

The Federal Aviation Administration had filed his formal complaint in January and it was made public on Tuesday (April 9).

However, the complaint was not specifically related to the newer 737 Max jet which the Federal Aviation Administration has grounded twice.

On Tuesday, Salehpour said that his complaint raises “two quality issues that may dramatically reduce the life of the planes.”

“I am doing this not because I want Boeing to fail, but because I want it to succeed and prevent crashes from happening,” said Salehpour, while speaking to the reporters.

“The truth is Boeing can’t keep going the way it is. It needs to do a little bit better, I think," he added.

FAA investigates whistleblower's claims, Boeing refutes safety concerns

Salehpour has been interviewed by the FAA as part of its investigation, said his attorney Lisa Banks. The FAA claimed that it was looking into all the complaints brought forward by him.

“Voluntary reporting without fear of reprisal is a critical component in aviation safety. We strongly encourage everyone in the aviation industry to share information," stated the FAA.

The concerns will also be addressed by a Senate committee at a hearing next week.

“We are fully confident in the 787 Dreamliner. These claims about the structural integrity of the 787 are inaccurate and do not represent the comprehensive work Boeing has done to ensure the quality and long-term safety of the aircraft,” said the company, in a statement.

Boeing further said that "the issues raised have been subject to rigorous engineering examination under FAA oversight" and that they "do not present any safety concerns."

United States President Joe Biden has urged Israel to declare a 'unilateral ceasefire' for at least six to eight weeks and said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's strategy in the war is a mistake.

The statement of Biden appeared to be nullifying the stance of the administration that a truce in Gaza is only possible if Hamas agrees to release some of the hostages, who have still been kept in the Gaza Strip.

“What I’m calling for is for the Israelis to just call for a ceasefire, allow for the next six, eight weeks, total access to all food and medicine going into the country,” said Biden, in an interview with Univision, a US Spanish-language TV network.

“I’ve spoken with everyone from the Saudis to the Jordanians to the Egyptians. They’re prepared to move in. They’re prepared to move this food in. And I think there’s no excuse to not provide for the medical and food needs of those people. It should be done now,” the president added.

Meanwhile speaking about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's strategy in war with Hamas, Biden said, “I think what he’s doing is a mistake… I don’t agree with his approach.”

White House says no shift in US administration's policy

Reacting to Biden's appeal to call for a unilateral ceasefire, the White House clarified that the president's statements do not hint at any shift in the US administration's policy.

A White House official said that Biden was speaking about the truce which is being currently negotiated by his administration and would see the release of some 40 hostages over a six-to-eight-week period.

“There is no change in our position. The president was reiterating our longstanding position: we are calling for an immediate ceasefire that would last for at least six weeks as part of a hostage deal,” said the official.

“His quote [to Univision] makes that clear. This is in line with what he said at the State of the Union, and that we’ve repeatedly said,” added the senior White House official.

Hours before Biden's interview was aired, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had blamed Hamas for delaying a deal.

“There could be a ceasefire in place today that would extend for several weeks to be built upon longer if Hamas would be prepared to release some of those people, so let’s train the attention where it belongs… I believe Israel is ready and Hamas should step up to the table and be prepared to do so as well,” said Sullivan.

Hamas “has an opportunity now to agree to the proposal on a ceasefire and hostages. The ball is in Hamas’s court. The world is watching to see what it does,” said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Watch: Gravitas: Is Israel preparing to target Iran's nuclear facilities? (With inputs from agencies)

A murder convict, Brian Dorsey, was executed by the state of Missouri on Tuesday (April 9) for killing his cousin and her husband.

The incident had occurred almost two decades ago and in this, the 4-year-old daughter of the couple was left home alone and unharmed.

The death sentence of Dorsey was carried out by the state by administering him a lethal injection at Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Centre in Bonne Terre, Missouri's Department of Corrections said in a statement.

The doctors pronounced him dead at 6:11 pm local time. The court denied clemency to Brian Dorsey after two separate bids to intervene were rejected by the high court.

The US Supreme Court had also refused to intervene and rejected all last-minute attempts to halt the execution, which included a plea for a stay on the order. The officials did not note any dissents.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson on Monday (April 8) confirmed that the state will move ahead with the death sentence of Dorsey while rejecting another request for clemency.

Prison officers appealed to save Brian Dorsey

Many prison staffers had appealed to Parson to save Dorsey from execution since they claimed he had been rehabilitated and had called him a “model inmate".

Meanwhile, his lawyers claimed that the accused was in a drug-induced psychosis when the murder was committed by him in 2006.

Dorsey's attorney Kirk Henderson slammed the state for going ahead with his execution.

"If anyone deserves mercy, surely it is Brian, who has been fully rehabilitated and whose death sentence was so flawed that five of his jurors believe he should not be executed," said Henderson, in a statement.

"Executing Brian Dorsey is a pointless cruelty, an exercise of the state's power that serves no legitimate penological purpose," he added.

Dorsey, who had appealed for clemency, thanked those who made efforts to save his life. "To my family, friends, and all of those that tried to prevent this, I love you!" said Dorsey in a handwritten note that he left as his last words.

"I am grateful for you. I have peace in my heart in large part because of you and I thank you. To all those on ALL sides of this sentence, I carry no ill will or anger, only acceptance and understanding," he said.

Further apologising for everything, Dorsey in his last words said, "To all of the family and loved ones I share with Sarah and to all of the surviving family and loved ones of Ben, I am totally, deeply, overwhelmingly sorry. Words cannot hold the just weight of my guilt and shame. I still love you. I never wanted to hurt anyone. I am sorry I hurt them and you."

The court had convicted Dorsey of killing cousin Sarah Bonnie and her husband, Ben Bonnie after he requested them for help while claiming that two drug dealers were asking him to clear his debts.

Missouri executes murder convict Brian Dorsey despite mercy bid by prison officials

Scientists, in a path-breaking discovery, have found a nearby alien planet which has one side locked in permanent darkness while the other side remains in endless sunshine.

This is the first major evidence which proves that the planets beyond our Solar System are also 'tidally locked' to their host stars and have an orbital period exactly similar to the rotational one.

This results in one side of the exoplanet always facing the star and not having any respite from the heat and the other side facing perpetual night.

The exoplanet, which is known as LHS 3844b, or Kua'kua, is close to its host star Batsu which is seen as uninhabitable to life.

What are tidally locked exoplanets?

Tidal locking is a cosmic phenomenon which has been observed inside the Solar system, although it has not been found in any of the planets revolving around the Sun.

Tidal locking happens when the rotation cycle of two cosmic bodies slowly synchronises with their orbit because of gravitational interaction.

However, the findings have finally confirmed that tidally locked exoplanets also exist outside our solar systems and may be common in the Milky Way.

"This thing that has been theoretical now feels real," said astronomer Nicolas Cowan of McGill University in Canada, while speaking to Nature. "This is actually what these planets look like," he added.

As per the research, Kua'kua also doesn't have an atmosphere which means that any temperature readings are related directly to its surface.

Headed by astronomer Xintong Lyu of Peking University in China, a global thermal model of an exoplanet was developed by the researchers. It did not have an atmosphere and the model was compared to the observations of the system which were taken using the infrared Spitzer telescope.

The scientists were also searching for evidence of internal heating which is generated by the ever-changing distortion that takes place during an asynchronous orbit.

The exoplanets, which are not tidally locked, generate internal stress from the gravity of the star which constantly tries to change its shape and heats up the exoplanet from the inside. This heat inside the exoplanet is detected in infrared light.

It was discovered that the exoplanet is far too cool for anything apart from a tidally locked orbit.

In an unbelievable incident, a United Airlines pilot nonchalantly walked into the aircraft and started repairing a window minutes before takeoff.

This almost rare act by a pilot left the passengers shocked, who questioned if this was even 'normal'.

One of the passengers recorded the pilot holding a window seal and fixing it and then checking if everything was secure minutes before the flight took off from Denver to Dallas.

Harvard professor Avi Loeb, who is known for investigating the existence of aliens, in fresh claims has stated that aliens are likely to be present 300 feet below Earth's surface.

Notably, the United States government has never confirmed any mysterious sightings of UFOs. Avi Loeb has said that aliens have been using hidden dimensions created by researchers at the CERN particle accelerator to enter Earth.

The accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), blasts particles at the speed of light to recreate a situation similar to that of the Big Bang, with hopes of finding hidden dimensions which will reveal how the universe was formed.

Speaking about the hidden aliens, Loeb said that the extra-terrestrial creatures have most likely spent billions of years developing dimension-hopping technology.

Only particle accelerators such as CERN can detect these dimensions: Loeb

The physicist further claimed that the aliens may have been using theoretical quantum gravity engineering to travel through 'curled' dimensions which humans can detect only in particle accelerators such as CERN.

In the documentary, 'The Paranormal UFO Connection', the Harvard scientist says that if some day alien technology reaches us, we will be completely dumbfounded.

"Just like a cave dweller coming to a city like London or Europe, and seeing all the technological gadgets there," said Loeb.

"There will be a sense of religious awe, and we wouldn't understand it, especially if we are dealing with the effects of quantum gravity that we have any clue about," he added.

Loeb claimed that using extra-spatial dimensions to travel will mean that there is a 'much smaller' chance of collisions.

At CERN, scientists have made an attempt to detect six 'extra spatial' dimensions and find particular particles as evidence in such existing dimensions.

"Quantum mechanics was discovered exactly a century ago. And all the most sophisticated technologies we currently employ, such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, and so forth, rely on our understanding of quantum mechanics," said Loeb.

"But the process of learning is incomplete - there are several major puzzles in modern physics. Within the mainstream of theoretical physics for the past decades, the prevailing paradigm is that it is possible to unify quantum mechanics and gravity unless you work with extra-spatial dimensions," he added.
