Set to take over Air India from the Indian government, the Tata Group has taken first step towards managing the carrier by introducing "enhanced meal service" on&nbsp;four flights that will operate from Mumbai today (January 27) onwards.

The "enhanced meal service" will be provided on four flights -- AI864 (Mumbai-Delhi), AI687 (Mumbai-Delhi), AI945 (Mumbai-Abu Dhabi) and AI639 (Mumbai-Bengaluru) -- on Thursday.&nbsp;The takeover will take place after Thursday, as per officials.

After a competitive bidding process, the government had on October 8 last year sold Air India to Talace Private Limited -- a subsidiary of the Tata Group's holding company -- for Rs 18,000 crore.

The officials said the new date from which all Air India flights will fly under "Tata Group's banner or aegis" will be told to the employees later.

The "enhanced meal service" will be served on Mumbai-Newark flight and five Mumbai-Delhi flights on Friday, they noted.

The "enhanced meal service" -- devised by the Tata Group officials -- will be expanded to more flights in a staggered and phased manner, the officials added.

News agency IANS on Thursday quoted highly placed sources to say that Chairman of Tata Group N. Chandrasekaran was in national capital to meet key Central government officials before the formal handing over ceremony.

Earlier this week, in a communication to the airlines employees, a senior Air India official wrote: "The disinvestment of Air India is now decided to be on January 27, 2022.

"The closing balance sheet as on January 20 has to be provided today, i.e., January 24, so that it can be reviewed by Tatas and any changes can be effected on Wednesday."

The communication, which was reviewed by IANS, was sent to the employees by Director of Finance, Vinod Hejmadi.

The communication further read: "The next three days will be hectic for our department and I request all of you to give your best in these last three-four days before we get divested. We may have to work till late in the night to complete the task given to us."

Last month, the Competition Commission of India approved the acquisition of Air India, Air India Express and Air India SATS Airport Services by Talace, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons.

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed an executive order that made sexual harassment a crime under the military justice code. Sexual harassment in US armed forces is an issue Pentagon has struggled with.

Biden tweeted earlier in the day that he was "signing an Executive Order to make sexual harassment an offense in the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

The order is also meant to "strengthen the military's response to domestic violence and the wrongful broadcast or distribution of intimate visual images," he said.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had previously appointed an independent commission to submit recommendations as to how best to deal with perpetrators of sexual violence in the armed forces, and how to prosecute them more effectively.

The commission concluded that removing decisions about prosecuting sexual assault from the military chain of command was the only solution.

Instead of incurring administrative sanctions as was previously the case, perpetrators may receive prison time.

But a new landmark study has pointed at a direct correlation between money available with parents and brain development of the child in very first year. This is being touted to be first direct experimental evidence to show how poverty leads to such changes.

"We have known for many years that growing up in poverty puts children at risk for lower school achievement, reduced earnings, and poorer health," explains neuroscientist Kimberly Noble from Columbia University.

"However, until now, we haven't been able to say whether poverty itself causes differences in child development, or whether growing up in poverty is simply associated with other factors that cause those differences."

For this study, a thousand low-income mothers were recruited shortly after their baby was born. These parents were from New York City, New Orleans, Omaha or Minneapolis/St. Paul.

By random selection, these mothers were given either USD 333 or USD 20 per month for first four years of their babies' lives.

It was found that babies of low-income mothers who had received higher cash payments showed higher frequency brain activity than the babies whose mothers had got lower amount of money.

More research is said to be needed to correctly ascertain whether higher frequency brain activity led to better cognitive development. But researchers think that this was possible. It is being ascertained if lower mental&nbsp;stress of parents had anything to do with heightened brain activity of the baby.

The study has been published in PNAS.

“He has actually healed exceptionally well,” said Marais. “And I think this is the next chapter, where we are going to rewild him in a 2,000-hectare camp where we have put two females of breeding age with him.”

Even after extensive surgery, Seha’s sinus cavities are still exposed, creating a risk of infection. But conservationists have opted to return him to the wild nonetheless in the hope he will mate and help increase the dwindling population.

“No rhino translocation is without risk,” said Andre Uys, who manages the game reserve where Seha now lives.

Seha was safely darted and released on Monday. His rescuers are keeping his exact location a secret in the hope of preventing future poaching attacks.

Poachers killed at least 249 rhinos in South Africa during the first six months of 2021 – 83 more than in the first half of 2020. Full-year numbers are not available yet, but 24 were killed in just two weeks of December.

The animals are slaughtered for their horns, which are smuggled into Asia where they are highly prized for traditional and medicinal purposes.

"This election is crucial. Nothing less is at stake than our democracy. But as we say, we don't agonize, we organize, and that is why I am running for reelection to Congress and respectfully seek your support." Pelosi, the only female speaker in US history, first took up the gavel in 2007 and returned to the role when the Democrats retook the House in the 2018 midterm elections. After securing her party's nomination to lead the House in 2020, Pelosi suggested it would be her last term in the job. The job places her second in line to the presidency behind Vice President Kamala Harris. "When people ask me, 'What are the three most important issues facing the Congress?'
