Light has a mind-boggling speed of nearly 300 million metres per second. All forms of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, travel at the speed of light.

Just 0.13 Seconds are needed to Complete a Full Circle of Earth

It takes just 0.13 seconds to complete a full circle of Earth, which is ridiculously quick.

Despite light being so quick, its speed is relatively slow when compared to the size of the universe.

Eight Minutes to Reach the Sun, 4 Hours to Reach the nearest Star

Light would take eight minutes to reach the sun, four hours to reach the nearest star, 2.5 million years to reach the closest galaxy Andromeda, and 46.5 billion years to reach the edge of the observable universe.

How Fast is the Speed of Light?

A top military general in the United States (US) said on Thursday (Mar 28) that Israel did not receive every weapon it had asked for, in part because some of it could affect the American military's readiness and there were capacity limitations. Addressing an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group, General Charles Q. Brown, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, "Although we've been supporting them with capability, they've not received everything they've asked for."

A top military general in the United States (US) said on Thursday (Mar 28) that Israel did not receive every weapon it had asked for, in part because some of it could affect the American military's readiness and there were capacity limitations. Addressing an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group, General Charles Q. Brown, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, "Although we've been supporting them with capability, they've not received everything they've asked for." "Some of that is because they've asked for stuff that we either can't provide or not willing to provide, not right now," General Brown added. The US gives $3.8 billion in annual military assistance to Israel. Also read | Israeli soldiers kill two unarmed Palestinians in Gaza. One of them was holding a white flag: Report General Brown's remarks comes at a time Israel has been at war with Hamas since early October last year. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Brown said in a statement that his remarks were about a standard practice before providing military aid to any of Washington's allies and partners. "We assess US stockpiles and any possible impact on our readiness to determine our ability to provide the requested aid. There is no change in US policy. The United States continues to provide security assistance to our ally Israel as they defend themselves from Hamas," the spokesperson added. This came hours after President Joe Biden acknowledged "the pain being felt" by many Arab Americans over the war in Gaza and American support for Israel and its military offensive. Since the conflict started, the US has been rushing air defences and munitions to Israel and this assistance has been criticised by some Democrats and Arab American groups.
Former United States president and current presidential hopeful Donald Trump is pushing legal challenges in two cases before the Easter weekend. A report by BBC early Saturday (Mar 30) said that Trump's lawyers are appealing against a verdict from a Georgia judge allowing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to stay in the state's election subversion case.

The lawyers are also aiming to stop the expansion of a gag order, limiting Trump's speech, in the hush money trial.

In the election subversion case, Trump and his co-defendants alleged that Willis financially benefitted from an improper romantic relationship with Nathan Wade - a prosecutor she hired to lead the case. Judge Scott McAfee, who is overseeing the case, held two weeks of hearings which included a testimony from Willis who admitted being in a relationship with Wade but said she did not benefit from it financially.

Judge McAfee sided with Willis. He pointed out relationship had the "appearance of impropriety" and said that Willis or Wade should step down following which the latter did so.

In a motion filed before the Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday, Trump and co-defendants argued that Willis should be removed too. The lawyers of Trump and the co-defendants said that Wade stepping down did not sufficiently address the appearance of impropriety that cast a pall over the proceedings.

In the hush money trial, Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 payment to adult actor Stormy Daniels.

The BBC report said that earlier this week, Justice Juan Merchan, the judge in this case, granted a request from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office to impose a gag order on the former president barring him from making statements about jurors and witnesses or intimidating court staff.

On Friday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sought to clarify - and possibly expand - the gag order barring Trump from attacking court staff and their families. The motion came after Trump insulted Merchan's daughter in a social media post before the gag order was issued.

Bragg asked Merchan to warn Trump and direct him to immediately desist. If Trump does not, the prosecutor argued, he should face sanctions, the report added.

However, Trump's lawyer Todd Blanche denied that the former president violated the gag order and argued that the judge's daughter was not a part of it. Blanche added that there was nothing wrong with the social media posts.

The above developments come as Trump faces four legal cases including the election subversion case and hush money trial- which are likely to be heard before the presidential elections in November. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in all cases.
