British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party is on course for a worse general election result than in 1997. Citing a survey from YouGov, a report by the news agency Reuters on Wednesday (Apr 3) said that the Conservative Party would win just 155 seats while Labour would get 403 seats. The total number of seats in the British parliament are 650.

The survey said that Prime Minister Sunak was still struggling to gain momentum after a tax-cutting budget last month and ahead of local elections in May. The survey projected that the Conservatives would score fewer seats than they did in 1997 when they won just 165 seats in a landslide defeat to Labour Party led by Tony Blair.

The survey further said that the headline election result based on the model would see Labour gain 41% of the vote share and Conservatives get 24%. However, it pointed out that the results could look different to regular polling due to its treatment of people who do not currently have a voting intention.

A recent study has said that global life expectancy increased by 6.2 years between 1990 and 2021.
The study said that the leading causes of age-standardised deaths globally were the same in 2019 as they were in 1990- in descending order, these were ischaemic heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and lower respiratory infections.

He added that someone at the house called the deputies to come to arrest the teen as he had caused trouble there before. What happened? Dicus said that the teen, armed with a knife, locked himself in a bathroom, and deputies tried to get him to come out for about a half hour. But when the boy threatened to harm himself, the deputies kicked down the bathroom door and tried to apprehend him, the sheriff added. Gainer, an autistic African American boy, was killed on March 9 in Apple Valley. In a statement, the sheriff's department said, "The deputy retreated and Gainer chased the deputy in an attempt to assault him with the bladed end of the tool. A lethal force encounter occurred, and Gainer was struck by gunfire. " "Deputies quickly rendered medical aid to Gainer and continued until paramedics arrived. Gainer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries," the statement added. (With inputs from agencies)

Water We Drink Might Be Older than the Sun

Our planet Earth is old. The Sun is old. But there's one thing that might be older than both- the water that we drink. How is this possible?

A prevailing theory has said that water originated on Earth from ice specks floating in a cosmic cloud before our sun was set ablaze. Calculations by astrophysicists state that as much as half of all the water on Earth may have come from that interstellar gas.

The age of water on our planet is about 4.5 billion years, as old as the Solar System itself.

Quite Scary: Times When The Simpsons Accurately Predicted the Future

One of America’s longest Running Shows

American animated sitcom The Simpsons is one of the longest-running shows in the United States. It premiered in 1989 and has broadcast 763 episodes since then. The show focusses on the life of the Simpson family based in the fictional town of Springfield.

The show is quite intriguing, primarily for the reason that it has predicted the future quite accurately. Here’s a look at some instances:

In the ninth season of Simpsons which was aired in 1997, an episode shows Bart Simpson feeling sick with his mother Marge reading a book titled “Curious George and the Ebola Virus”. The virus, which spread in 2000 and again in 2014 was relatively unknown by the time this episode aired.

In the sixth season, an episode titled Lisa’s Wedding shared details about technology in future. It showed a brief moment when Hugh Parkfield talked to his watch, predicting the rise of smartwatches years later.

Simpsons predicted Kobe Bryant’s death and the Covid pandemic?

An episode from 1993 has uncanny similarities surrounding American basketball legend Kobe Bryant’s death and the coronavirus pandemic. Bryant died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 and the Covid pandemic also began around the same year.

Why did Makhachev turn down UFC Welterweight Title Bout against Edwards?

Current UFC Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (Russia) admitted that he was offered a Welterweight title fight against current champion Leon Edwards (United Kingdom) at UFC 300. This could have been the perfect promotion for UFC 300 which has been criticised by MMA fans for not being exciting.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Makhachev said he was observing Ramadan which would make training for such a big fight far too difficult. “Because we have Ramadan now. One month of fasting, and it’s not possible to do training in Ramadan. It’s very hard,” he said.

Makhachev asked to Push UFC 300 to a Later Date

The Lightweight champion also said that he asked his manager to push UFC 300 to a later date. “I asked Ali (Abdelaziz) can they push the UFC 300 like two weeks, I will be ready, but he said it’s not possible,” he said.

Despite Makhachev vs Edwards not happening, UFC 300 has three title fights lined up- Alex Pereira defends his light heavyweight title against former champ Jamahal Hill, women’s strawweight champ Zhang Weili faces Yan Xiaonan, and Justin Gaethje fights Max Holloway for the BMF title.

UFC 300: Ahead of Fighting Pereira, Hill Takes Advice from Adesanya

Jamahal Hill (United States) is set to face UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira (Brazil) at UFC 300 on April 13. Ahead of the title fight, Hill, the former champion, reached out to Pereira's arch-rival and former UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (New Zealand).

On his Instagram account, Hill said he was on a video call with Adesanya and pointed out he was gaining information on some of Pereira's tendencies when he was timing his strikes.

Hill complimented Adesanya by saying, "Picking one of the greatest minds (in) the history of the sport."

Pereira's fans reacted to Jamahal taking advice from Hill. Some claimed that if Hill were to lose this bout, it would count as a loss for Adesanya instead. While some said that Hill would get slept by the Brazilian inside the octagon.
