Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a meeting with the members of the PM-Economic Advisory Council. PM Modi and the members of the Economic Advisory Council discussed various ideas and measures to further boost India's economic growth in times of global turmoil. Various reforms to improve ease of living and ease of doing business were also discussed. The Members also gave their assessment of the impact of the West Asia Conflict on India and the world. The meeting comes at a time when economies across the world continue to grapple with geopolitical tensions, trade uncertainties and uneven growth trends. Last month, PM Modi made seven appeals to citizens to contribute towards economic resilience by reducing dependence on imported fuel and adopting environmentally sustainable alternatives amid the West Asia conflict. PM Modi urged citizens to prioritise work from home, cut fuel consumption, avoid foreign travel for a year, adopt Swadeshi products, reduce cooking oil use, shift to natural farming and curb gold purchases. To combat the volatility of fuel prices, PM Modi urged a shift in how India moves. He requested citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption by using the metro and public transport wherever available, opting for carpooling when private vehicles are necessary, preferring railway transport for the movement of goods, and increasing the use of electric vehicles wherever possible. Meanwhile, India's economy has outperformed market expectations in the fourth quarter of FY 2025-26, with real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimated to grow 7.8 per cent year-on-year, while full-year growth is pegged at 7.7 per cent, according to official data released on June 5. Real GDP at constant prices is estimated at Rs 87.77 lakh crore in Q4 FY26, up from Rs 81.40 lakh crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Nominal GDP for the quarter is estimated at Rs 94.65 lakh crore, registering a growth of 9.1 per cent. For the full financial year 2025-26, real GDP is estimated to attain Rs 323.12 lakh crore, compared with the First Revised Estimate of Rs 299.89 lakh crore in FY25, reflecting a growth rate of 7.7 per cent. Nominal GDP is estimated at Rs 346.36 lakh crore, growing 8.9 per cent over the previous year. Gross Value Added (GVA), a key measure of economic activity, is estimated to grow 7.9 per cent in FY26, while nominal GVA is projected to rise 9.1 per cent. In the fourth quarter, real GVA growth stood at 7.9 per cent, while nominal GVA expanded 9.9 per cent. The data showed that the secondary and tertiary sectors remained the key drivers of growth. For FY26, the secondary sector is estimated to grow 8.8 per cent and the tertiary sector 9.3 per cent at constant prices. The primary sector registered growth of 3.2 per cent, supported mainly by agriculture and fisheries. Disclaimer: This story has been published from a news agency feed with minimal edits for grammar and punctuation. The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on Friday unanimously decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 5.25 per cent, maintaining its neutral policy stance amid rising global uncertainties, geopolitical tensions in West Asia and concerns over inflationary pressures. Announcing the decision, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said that after a detailed assessment of evolving macroeconomic and financial conditions, the MPC voted unanimously to leave the policy repo rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) unchanged at 5.25 per cent. "Consequently, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) rate remains at 5 per cent and the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 5.5 per cent," the Governor said. Explaining the rationale behind the decision, the RBI Governor highlighted the challenging global economic environment marked by heightened uncertainty, disruptions to key trade routes and supply chains, increased market volatility and cautious business sentiment. "The global economy has been shaped by heightened uncertainty, disruptions to key trade routes and supply chains, increased market volatility, and cautious business sentiment. Let me at the very outset emphasise that the Indian economy entered this episode of global turbulence with much better fundamentals than in previous similar episodes," he said. The Governor noted that while India remains relatively well-positioned, policymakers must use the current phase of global turbulence to further strengthen the country's economic resilience. "It is important to not only confront and address these challenges, but also, at the same time, take this as an opportunity to further enhance our resilience," he added. The RBI Governor further pointed to the continuing geopolitical impasse in West Asia, escalating energy prices and global supply chain disruptions as key risks weighing on the world economy. According to him, monetary policy across major economies has become increasingly cautious as central banks grapple with difficult trade-offs between supporting growth and containing inflation. He also observed that major advanced economy central banks may increasingly lean towards monetary tightening. While global equity markets continue to remain buoyant, supported by optimism surrounding artificial intelligence-led growth, global bond markets remain under pressure due to renewed inflation concerns and worries over debt sustainability, he said. The latest decision follows the MPC's April policy meeting, where it had also unanimously voted to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25 per cent while retaining the neutral policy stance.Disclaimer: This story has been published from a news agency feed with minimal edits for grammar and punctuation. The Bhasma Aarti (offering with ashes) is considered one of the most significant rituals at the Mahakal temple. It is performed during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 am and 5:30 am, when devotees gather to witness the divine ceremony. According to religious beliefs, participation in the Bhasma Aarti is considered highly auspicious and is believed to fulfil the wishes of devotees. The ritual begins with the opening of the temple doors in the early hours of the morning, followed by a ceremonial bath of the deity using Panchamrit, a sacred mixture made of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey. After the ritual bath, the deity is adorned with hemp and sandalwood before the Bhasma Aarti and dhoop-deep Aarti are performed with devotional chants. The ceremony is accompanied by rhythmic drum beats and the resonating sound of conch shells, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere inside the temple premises. The Bhasma Aarti at the Mahakal temple holds immense religious significance and draws devotees from across the country and abroad. The Mahakaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is considered among the holiest shrines in Hinduism. Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara is known for her works in 'Dhurandhar', 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', among others
