<p>The revoking of Article 370 was supported by several parties in the Rajya Sabha on Monday including Chandrababu Naidu-Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Mayawati's BSP, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's AAP, AIADMK, AGP, Akali Dal and RPI.</p>

<p>However, the Congress, CPM, CPI, DMK, SP, IUML and KC(M) voted against the resolution as the JD(U), TMC and NCP walked out the Rajya Sabha.</p>

<p><strong>Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, BJP:</strong> I welcome the Bill on behalf of everyone in Ladakh. People there wanted the region to be a Union Territory. People in Ladakh wanted that the region be freed from the dominance &amp; discrimination of Kashmir, that is happening today.</p>

<p><strong>Satish Chandra Mishra, BSP:</strong> Our party gives complete support. We want that the Bill be passed. Our party is not expressing any opposition to Article 370 Bill &amp; the other Bill.</p>

<p><strong>Sharad Pawar, NCP:</strong> I think Govt of India should have taken them (leaders of the valley) into confidence which unfortunately the govt didn't do. And then they should have taken the decision (to revoke 370).<br />

<p>The Indian tennis team's proposed trip to Islamabad to play the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group 1 tie in September has run into rough weather. WION has exclusive details that non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi has expressed his reservations in a strongly worded letter to the All India Tennis Association (AITA).</p>

<p>In his letter, Bhupathi has asked AITA to provide the players and coaching staff details of the security arrangements being made for the tie.</p>

<p>When contacted, Bhupathi declined to comment on the contents of the letter.</p>

<p>But sources have revealed that the 12-time grand slam winner has informed AITA that a few players are unhappy about touring Pakistan. Bhupathi has made it clear that if required, the players would put the national interest ahead of their reservations and play the Davis Cup tie. But he has asked AITA to detail the security arrangements that have been put in place for the Indian team.</p>

<p>This comes days after AITA secretary general Hironmoy Chatterjee made a massive announcement on Saturday. "Our team will be going to Pakistan for Davis Cup. We have got the invitation letters, now we will apply for visa. Team selection has not been done yet, it will start on August 5. Our team will go around September 10," Hironmoy Chatterjee said.</p>

<p>Sources said that AITA wrote to Union Sports Ministry for clearance on May 21, but the ministry washed its hands off the matter saying its permission was not required.</p>

<p>When it comes to touring Pakistan, the clearance of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is a must, said sources, adding that the MEA has not received any such request from AITA.</p>

<p>The issue of players' security is vital, and that is precisely the reason why all tours of Pakistan have to be cleared by security agencies.</p>

<p>The Indian cricket board sent a high-level delegation to Pakistan comprising security experts ahead of tours in 2004 and 2006. The Pakistan Cricket Board similarly sent a delegation to India ahead of tours in 2005, 2007 and 2012.</p>

<p>The Sri Lankan cricket team was promised presidential-level security ahead of a one-off T20 international in 2017. Similar security measures were put in place when Pakistan hosted a three-match T20 series against a World 11.</p>

<p>Leading teams in world cricket have stayed away from Pakistan ever since the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked outside the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in 2009.</p>

<p>The Pakistan Tennis Federation has proposed that the Davis Cup tie should be held at the National Sports Complex in Islamabad. Pakistan's last two ties against Uzbekistan and South Korea were played at the same stadium in 2018.</p>

<p>WION sought details of the proposed security arrangements from the Pakistan Tennis Federation but they too clammed up.</p>

<p>Legan legally purchased the AK-47-type assault rifle in Nevada on July 9 and brought the arms to California illegally, according to authorities.</p>

<p>He cut through a fence at the festival on Sunday evening in order to evade metal detectors and other security measures at the front entrance and shot people, seemingly at random, with an "AK-47-style" assault rifle, Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee told reporters. Four people were killed and 15 others injured in the attack.</p>

<p>"It could have gone so much worse so fast," Smithee said, noting that the popular festival, which takes place about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Silicon Valley, is attended by thousands of visitors.</p>

<p>Police and FBI agents were still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.</p>

<p>Legan appeared to post a photograph from the festival on his Instagram account shortly before the shooting, with captions expressing his disdain for the event.</p>

<p>A vigil was scheduled in Gilroy for the victims on Monday evening.</p>

<p>Founded in 1979, the Gilroy Garlic Festival is an annual event run by volunteers and held outdoors at Christmas Hill Park. The agricultural community bills itself as the "Garlic Capital of the World."</p>

<p>The Vietnam has said that China deploying its ship in the disputed waters in the South China Sea is a violation of its sovereignty.</p>

<p>Speaking at WION World Order, Vietnam ambassador SanhChau Pham said. "Vietnam is facing challenges because China is deploying its survey ship within the exclusive economic zone of Vietnam. We tried to call them to pull out of this economic zone but they haven't done that. So, it is a violation of Vietnam's sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the waters as provided for by the international law on the sea."</p>

<p>He was speaking during a session on the Geopolitical Significance of Indo-Pacific: An ASEAN View.</p>

<p>"We have to address that collectively with the ASEAN and with the whole Indo-Pacific. All the partners will have to understand that they have to respect the law," the ambassador added.</p>

<p>The Chinese ships are stationed at the Vanguard Bank, the wetern-most reef in the resource-rich Spratly Islands. They entered the area on July 3 and have been stationed there in the name of doing seismic research and have ignored the calls from Hanoi to leave.</p>

<p>China stakes ownership claims to the Spratlys - along with Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam - and has even built artificial islands to serve as military outposts.</p>

<p>Vietnam foreign ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said in a statement last week, "Chinese survey ship Haiyang Dizhi 8 had conducted activities in the southern area of the East Sea that violated Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf." The South China Sea is known as the East Sea in Vietnam.</p>
