Daniel Ricciardo will be fit for Sunday's season-opening Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix after recovering from COVID-19, his McLaren team said on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Australian tested positive last week and was unable to participate in three days of pre-season testing in the Gulf kingdom.

"Daniel has now returned a number of negative tests and will therefore return to the paddock on Thursday ready to compete in this weekend's Bahrain GP," McLaren said.

"Daniel has been feeling better each day as he continued to recover while in isolation following local regulations in Bahrain."

Rivals Alpine had offered McLaren their Australian reserve driver Oscar Piastri as a stand-in should Ricciardo have been unable to race.

Practice for the opening race at Sakhir is on Friday and Ricciardo will go into it without having driven the car since Barcelona on Feb. 24.

Bahrain is something of a home race for McLaren, with the team majority owned by the Gulf kingdom's sovereign investment fund Mumtalakat.

Ricciardo finished seventh last year with teammate Lando Norris fourth.

Hockey India on Wednesday named the 22-member men's team who will take on Argentina in the upcoming FIH Men's Hockey Pro League double-header this weekend&nbsp;at the iconic Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, who was part of the Indian junior men's squad at the FIH Junior Men's World Cup, will be the lone new face in the team for the matches against Argentina scheduled for March 19, 20, 2022.

The 22-member squad includes goalkeepers PR Sreejesh, Krishan Bahadur Pathak, defenders Harmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Surender Kumar, Varun Kumar, Jarmanpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas.

Midfield will see Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Hardik Singh, Sumit, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma and debutant Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh.

"It was one of those days when things didn't go our way. Honestly, I was also surprised by the way we batted in the first 20 overs. If you look back at the last six games which we played against New Zealand, we were executing our plans well. I think it is the pressure of the World Cup but I don't want to give any excuses," said Ramesh Powar in the pre-match virtual press conference. "Nothing different. It's been a process for a while. It is up to the individuals now. As I always say, it is the players who go out there and face that pressure and come out of it with their own skills and character," added Power. Powar believes that the match against West Indies is a great opportunity for the team India to get back to winning ways. "This is the right time to put your hand up and put up performances as we have been training for the last six months. We've been to England, Australia and came to NZ early, we got every practice opportunity which was needed. So, it is time as a group to stand up and deliver," he pointed. "We have been following a particular process for a long period of time on how to address particular bowling attacks or bowlers, be it be off-spinners, pacers, left-arm spinners or leg-spinners. Everyone in this batting unit knows how to react to certain bowling attacks."Mithali Raj-led India will face West Indies in their next match on Saturday.
