<p>"Since 0500 (UTC+8) today (Jun. 8), 37 PLA aircraft, including J-11, J-16, H-6, YU-20, and AWACS, have successively entered Taiwan's SW airspace. Several aircraft entered the western Pacific through Taiwan's SE airspace for long-range aerial reconnaissance training," the ministry said.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Taipei deploys quick countermeasures&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>As a countermeasure, Taipei activated land-based missile systems and deployed its aircraft and ships to keep watch on any suspected movement, the ministry added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"R.O.C. Armed Forces are monitoring the situation closely with our ISR system and have dispatched CAP aircraft, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems in response."</p>

He faced stiff competition from former president Jair Bolsonaro but managed to achieve a narrow win, before finally clearing several political hurdles to become the top lawmaker.</p>

<p>"We had assumed deforestation at an accelerated rate and we are now managing to invert the curve," said&nbsp;Joao Paulo Capobianco, deforestation control secretary at Brazil's Environment Ministry.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Lula administration imposed hefty fines to the tune of&nbsp;$406 million in the first five months of the year which contributed to the fight to protect the environment. <p>Jaishankar's statement should not come as a surprise as he has previously iterated that&nbsp;G20 was not a platform to debate international peace and security.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I think our contribution was to get G20 back to the G20's real business. The G20 is not the UN Security Council. It is not the primary forum to debate international peace and security," Jaishankar had said during an event in March.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added issues such as&nbsp;international peace and security did matter, but other issues such as&nbsp;food and energy security, green financing for nations took prominence on the G20 stage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We actually got something novel for the G20 to look at -- Global Skills Mapping. Where are the skills in the world and where&nbsp;is the demand in the world. They are in two different geographies. So, how do we actually put that together? I think that is a very interesting avenue which we have opened up for G20."&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Kyiv's attempts to secure participation&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>In April, Ukraine's first deputy foreign affairs minister Emine Dzhaparova visited New Delhi and attempted to set the ball rolling for Ukraine's participation in the G20 summit.</p>

<p>"I think India is a global player. It is really a 'Vishwaguru' of the world. We are feeling the pain by actually fighting for the values. This is about justice... Russia is questioning the very existence of my country. In our history of 1,500 years, Ukraine never attacked any country," said&nbsp;Dzheppar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the statement by Jaishankar may have come as a blow to Kyiv's hopes.</p>

<p>"We tried, but the gap between the countries was too much," said Jaishankar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, the G20, which includes the world's 19 wealthiest nations plus the European Union, accounts for 85 per cent&nbsp;of global economic output and two-thirds of its population.</p>

<p>Former British prime minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie hosted a close friend who helped them plan their wedding when Covid restrictions were in place, a Guardian report has claimed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report claims that the husband-wife met&nbsp;Dixie Maloney, a corporate events organiser, at their mansion on May 7, 2021, when indoor gatherings between different households were prohibited.&nbsp;Maloney informally helped the couple plan the wedding which took place three weeks later in the Downing Street garden.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the time, Carrie was pregnant with the couple’s second child, who was born in December that year. The Tory leader's spokesperson said Maloney's stay at the mansion was 'entirely lawful' as she was there for childcare reasons at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This was entirely lawful, and it was covered by relevant provisions in the Covid regulations. To suggest otherwise is totally untrue.”</p>

<p>Johnson has been under heavy scrutiny since it was first revealed that he openly flouted Covid rules that stopped ordinary folks from meeting their ill friends, and relatives or even attending funeral activities. Indoor gatherings were only allowed if they were&nbsp;“reasonably necessary” for work purposes, informal childcare or to provide care or assistance to a vulnerable person.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Quizzed about the meeting and its lawfulness, Maloney's spokesperson said she took proper precautions, even though she was not formally hired for any work by the Johnsons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Ms Maloney took her obligations under the relevant Covid restrictions very seriously. She would not have done anything at the relevant time unless she honestly believed that it was lawful to do so.”</p>

<p>“Ms Maloney has never been formally engaged to work for either Boris or Carrie Johnson, nor has she ever held any public role, whether in government or otherwise.”</p>

<p>Maloney's meeting with the former PM is one of the 12 gatherings that took place at Chequers and Downing Street, currently being investigated by two police forces.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>The 'Partygate' scandal&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The Johnson government was slammed for organising several parties at Downing Street when such gatherings were banned across the country during the lockdown.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 58-year-old was ousted as prime minister last summer following a revolt within his party over several allegations, which he denies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“None of them constitute a breach of the rules during Covid. They weren’t during lockdown. They were during other periods of the restrictions. None of them constitute a breach of the rules. None of them involve socialising. It is total nonsense," Johsnon said, defending himself.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Johnson was fined by police for attending an event in Downing Street to celebrate his birthday in June 2020.&nbsp;</p>

The report claims that the husband-wife met Dixie Maloney, a corporate events organiser, at their mansion on May 7, 2021, when indoor gatherings between different households were prohibited. Maloney informally helped the couple plan the wedding which took place three weeks later in the Downing Street garden. At the time, Carrie was pregnant with the couple’s second child, who was born in December that year. The Tory leader's spokesperson said Maloney's stay at the mansion was 'entirely lawful' as she was there for childcare reasons at the time. “This was entirely lawful, and it was covered by relevant provisions in the Covid regulations. <p>Usually, big brains are equated to higher intelligence. However, the discovery that Homo naledi not only buried their dead but made engravings deep within a cave system in southern Africa some 300,000 years ago suggests that we may have been a touch wrong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The revelations, detailed in three studies, accepted for publication in the journal eLife shed light on our intricate ancient history. Paleoanthropologist Lee Berger who first reported the discovery of Homo naledi in 2013, inside the Rising Star cave system 25 miles northwest of Johannesburg is responsible for the new claims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Berger and his team found more than 1,800 bone fragments deep in an underground chamber reachable only by a four-story vertical drop. The only plausible explanation for the situation seemed like a burial which may push the "body burials" timeline by at least 10,000 years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The position and intactness of some skeletal remains suggested that the dead may have been carefully laid out on the floor of the chamber rather than tossed down the Chute to collect as a jumble of bones at its base," read a report in National Geographic which has sponsored the research.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Based on the research, scientists argue that brain size shouldn’t be a significant factor in determining whether a hominin species is capable of complex cognition. If all the hypotheses regarding Homo naledi are proven true, it would mean that with a brain capacity of less than 600 cubic centimetres (the modern adult brain has 1,5000 cubic centimetres), the species was able to bury their dead, carve intricate drawings and lit fire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This deserves a global human conversation. What do we do next? How do we continue? We have just discovered a cultural space of another species that's not [modern] human, that’s not in our grade level. Not like us. How do we treat it? And I'm waiting to hear that," said Berger.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If Homo naledi were able to perform these complex tasks with an ape-sized brain, the question arises. What are we doing with all the extra brain that evolution has gifted us over the last few thousand years?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Akin to Qatar, Saudi Arabia has had a dodgy human rights record. Experts believe that by making itself the pivot of everything sports, Saudi Arabia is hoping for a turnaround. The pace of this turnaround, however, has been truly astounding.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tuesday (June 6) was a day of farewell, a last goodbye as Benzema made a callback to his first appearance at the storied pitch of Bernabeu. However, before it could dawn upon Madridistas that one of their all-time greats had left, images started circulating, showing Benzema holding a yellow-black Al-Ittihad jersey.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The confidence to invest in the league stems from the Saudi Arabian&nbsp;national team's performance in the World Cup where it was the only team to defeat eventual champions&nbsp;Argentina.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the kingdom grows its football league, it has developed major interests outside as well. In 2021, a consortium led by PIF bought off Premier League club Newcastle United. PIF is yet to spend a fraction of its $600 billion wealth on the club. If the success of Manchester City over the last decade serves any template of oil money catapulting a club to glory, Newcastle United surely has a beaming future ahead.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kenyan authorities will be converting the coastal forest where bodies of more than 250 people linked to a doomsday Christian cult were killed and buried, into a national memorial, according to&nbsp;Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kindiki said the forest&nbsp;"where grave crimes have been committed will not remain as it was".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The government will convert it into a national memorial, a place of remembrance so that Kenyans and the world do not forget what happened here," he said in a statement.</p>

<p>After the exhuming process is completed, a multi-faith ceremony will be held at the site&nbsp;“to secure the sacred right and freedom of worship that has been violated by crooks hiding behind scriptures to radicalise and indoctrinate their followers", added&nbsp;Kindiki.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The mass graves were discovered in&nbsp;Shakahola forest, a 325-hectare (800-acre) bushland that lies inland from the Indian Ocean town of Malindi. The minister, however, stated that the cult's activities spread far and beyond the Shakahola forest. Authorities had extended their investigation to&nbsp;a ranch in the area stretching over more than 14,980 hectares (37,000 acres).&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the latest reports, the total death toll in the case has risen to 251&nbsp;with&nbsp;additional bodies being discovered on Tuesday, following the start of the third phase of the exhumation process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A former deputy preacher of the cult, Titus Katana said children were the&nbsp;first to perish and were asked to “to fast in the sun so they would die faster", according to reports.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Katana left the cult, he said he went to the police to report that “kids are dying” in the forest but to no avail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“They [Police] never took any action until it was too late,” he said.</p>

<p>Though there was no explicit mention of talks regarding oil during the meeting, it is expected that Blinken may raise the issue later during his three-day trip.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, in the lead-up to the meeting, Washington was asked to comment on the decision by the kingdom to slash oil production. At the time, Deputy State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel took a safe line and refrained from commenting anything substantial.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We believe that supply should meet demand, and we’ll continue to work with all producers and consumers to ensure that energy markets support economic growth and lower prices for American families,” Patel said at a briefing. “That’s what we’re focusing on.”</p>

The court filings, accessed by Wall Street Journal revealed that the CCP collected IP addresses, SIM card IDs and communication data of users in Hong Kong in 2018.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Protesters’, supporters’, and civil rights activists’ device identifiers were tracked in addition to their network information, SIM card identifications, and IP addresses,” said Yu during the hearing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This information was used to determine both the users’ identity and locations. The TikTok app stores all the users’ direct messages, their search histories, the content viewed by the users, and duration. From the logs, I saw that the Committee accessed the protestors’, civil rights activists’, and supporters’ unique user data, locations, and communications," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, ByteDance termed Yu's claims as baseless and that he was looking to attract media attention.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We vigorously oppose what we believe are baseless claims and allegations in this complaint," said a spokesperson. “His actions are clearly intended to garner media attention."</p>

<p>“We plan to vigorously oppose what we believe are baseless claims and allegations in this complaint. Mr. Yu worked for ByteDance Inc. for less than a year and his employment ended in July 2018."</p>

<p>The spokesperson added that Yu worked on an app called Flipagram which was discontinued years ago for business reasons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Walking for 30 minutes a day and practising yoga can help cancer survivors improve their odds of survival as well as lower the risk of it spreading elsewhere, a new research study has shown.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The research conducted by the University of Rochester Medical Centre involved more than 500 cancer patients with an average age of 56 from across the US. They all had received treatment for the disease between two months and five years earlier.</p>

<p>During the study, the patients were asked to take up yoga or attend health education classes for a month. The two groups were also asked to take part in 75-minute sessions twice a week for four weeks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the police complaint accessed by one of the local news outlets, Atkins was charged with<strong>&nbsp;</strong>“Disorderly Conduct Engage in Fighting". The statute involves intentionally causing significant public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A police officer speaking to Newsweek confirmed the same, saying Atkins was not charged for reading the Bible verses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"He was not arrested for reading a bible verse. He was arrested for being disorderly. His volume was at a level that he was heckling a preplanned and permitted event. He was given an area he was allowed to protest in and was asked to keep the volume at a level that was not problematic or that was inciting public inconvenience," said the officer.&nbsp;</p>
