A man was flogged inside a Malaysia mosque on Friday after being convicted of an Islamic offence for spending time alone with a woman who was neither his wife nor relative, state news said.

Earlier this week the Malaysian Bar Association of lawyers said it had "profound concern" over the decision to flog the man.

Dr Julia Baines, senior science policy manager for animal campaign group Peta, slammed MoD for carrying out "cruel experiments on monkeys, mice, pigs, and other animals". She stated that "Peta calls shame on the Ministry of Defence" for "injecting deadly viruses into their brains and exposing them to nerve agents."
The MoD refused to detail the deaths of the animals, saying, "Chemical and biological weapons remain a real and present threat, as are battlefield injuries from conventional weapons."

On November 11, Weiqiu rammed his car into the crowds on a running track. Driving at high speed due to his dissatisfaction about how his property was divided after his divorce, the 62-year-old killed 35 people and injured dozens more.
He "decided to vent his anger" over "a broken marriage, personal frustrations, and dissatisfaction with the division of property after divorce".
The senseless attack is thought to be the deadliest on Chinese soil since 2014.
A witness told the court that the man drove his car in a "loop" driving over, leaving people injured in "all areas of the running track" where people were exercising.
Following the attack, Fan Weiqiu was found in his vehicle trying to stab himself with a knife, said the police. He pleaded guilty to endangering public safety by dangerous means. According to Chinese media reports, he admitted his guilt in front of the victim's families.

South Korean cryptocurrency specialist Do Kwon will be extradited to the United States, Montenegro said on Friday (Dec 27). He is the primary accused in the collapse of two digital tokens - TerraUSD and Luna. Do Kwon is also wanted by Seoul for the multi-billion-dollar bankruptcy of his company, Terraform Labs.
Both US and South Korea have been seeking Kwon's extradition for months. He is accused of committing fraud leading to the failure of the company behind the tokens that caused the loss of around $40 billion of investor money. His fall also jolted the crypto market.
The decision brings to an end an over 18-month-long court battle as Montenegro does not have extradition treaties with the US or South Korea.
The court said that Kwon "personally consented to expedited extradition to both the Republic of South Korea and the United States".

The justice ministry said that Justice Minister Bojan Bozovic "issued a decision approving the extradition of the accused, Kwon Do Hyung, to the United States of America."
"It was concluded that the majority of the criteria prescribed by law favour the extradition request from the competent authorities of the United States of America," the statement said.
Do Kwon was on the run for months before he was arrested in March 2023 at the airport in Montenegrin capital Podgorica while trying to board a flight to Dubai. He was found in possession of a fake Costa Rican passport.
He first fled to South Korea and later to Singapore before his business crashed and his company went bankrupt in 2022. He fled to Serbia before being picked up in Montenegro.
<h2>Who is Do Kwon and what did he do?</h2>
 Do Kwon's company Terraform Labs created a cryptocurrency called TerraUSD. It was marketed as a "stablecoin", a token looked at as one that can stabilise assets such as the US dollar to prevent drastic fluctuations.
He was able to successfully market the cryptocurrency as the next big thing in the crypto world and attracted billions in investments and global hype. South Korean media called him a "genius".
However, TerraUSD and its sister token Luna went downwards in May 2022. According to experts, it was a glorified Ponzi scheme that led to several people losing their life savings.
In January, Terraform Labs filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States. This would mean that Terraform could "execute on its business plan while navigating ongoing legal proceedings, including representative litigation pending in Singapore and US litigation involving the Securities and Exchange Commission", as per a company statement.

Sebastian Zapeta-Calil is scheduled to be arraigned on January 7. The 33-year-old has been accused of setting the woman&rsquo;s clothing ablaze on a train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station. She had been sleeping on an F train that was approaching the station.
&ldquo;These are significant counts. Murder in the first degree carries the possibility of life without parole. It&rsquo;s the most serious statute in New York state law and my office is very confident about the evidence in the case and to hold Zapeta accountable for his dastardly deeds,&rdquo; Gonzalez said.
The top charge he faces carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole, he added.

After setting the woman's clothes on fire, Zapeta-Calil allegedly &ldquo;fanned the flames&rdquo; with a shirt as the fire engulfed her, as per police testimony in a complaint filed in Brooklyn Criminal Court. A prosecutor alleged Zapeta sat on a bench and watched her suffer, prosecutor Ari Rottenberg said during the Tuesday court appearance.

Federal immigration officials say that Zapeta-Calil is a Guatemalan citizen who entered the US illegally. His attorney refused to comment on the matter.
The New York City Office of the Medical Examiner classified the victim&rsquo;s death as a homicide. &ldquo;Thermal injuries&rdquo; and &ldquo;smoke inhalation" have been mentioned as reasons for her demise.
