She later partnered with Mahdi to open a clinic due to Yemeni laws that require foreign nationals to have a local partner for business ventures. Their relationship deteriorated, with Mahdi allegedly abusing and torturing her, taking her passport, and falsely claiming they were married.

Jabbar's brother Abdur said that radicalisation was to blame for the 42-year-old's rampage. Speaking to the New York Times (NYT), Abdur said that his brother converted to Islam at an early age.
Abdur also told NYT that what his brother "did does not represent Islam. This is some type of radicalisation, not religion."
He described Shamsud-Din Jabbar as a nice guy, really smart, and caring.

The war risk insurance premium for ships rose to 2% in 2024, up from just 0.05% before the crisis began. As a result of this disruption, Egypt suffered economically, losing over 60%, or $7 billion, of the revenue generated from the Suez Canal in 2024. &nbsp; In response to these regional assaults, the US and its allies announced Operation Prosperity Guardian on 18 December 2023 and Operation Poseidon on 9 January 2024. The incident occurred at around 11:20 pm in the vicinity of the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, said the New York Post report citing sources.
The injured were rushed to Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen&rsquo;s Children Medical Center, according to the report.
None of the victims have sustained serious injuries and are expected to survive.
With a spacious interior and a capacity of 4,000, Amazura is a popular venue for live shows and DJ events.
<h2>New Orleans Attack</h2>
The incident comes after a deadly attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day, where a man drove his pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street at approximately 3:15 am on Wednesday (Jan 1), killing 15 people.
New Orleans Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick described the driver as being &ldquo;hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did.&rdquo; She further added that the driver&rsquo;s intention appeared to be to &ldquo;run over as many people as he could.&rdquo; Additionally, two police officers were shot by the suspect, but both are now in stable condition.

The driver has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar who reportedly was inspired by Islamic State as an ISIS flag was found in his vehicle and he also posted some videos on social media expressing a desire to kill hours before the incident took place.

A police officer was killed and another seriously injured after a driver rammed his vehicle into a police car in Nelson, New Zealand, said the country&rsquo;s police chief.
Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming is the very first police officer to have been killed while on duty in the country as such criminal attacks are rare in New Zealand, said the police on Thursday (Jan 2).
The incident took place on Wednesday (Jan 1) when the driver drove his vehicle and ran it towards the officers &ldquo;at speed&rdquo; while they were performing a routine patrol of a parking lot, Police Commissioner Richard Chambers told reporters in the South Island city of Nelson.
Fleming succumbed to the serious injuries later in the hospital.
A 32-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and was charged with eight criminal counts, including murder, attempted murder, assault using a vehicle as a weapon and driving while disqualified.
The other officer hit by the car was also seriously injured but is expected to recover, said Chambers. A third police officer in the rammed vehicle received a concussion, whereas two more in the public were injured in the incident
Chambers condemned the &ldquo;senseless act of an individual who appears to have been determined to cause harm.&rdquo;
&ldquo;There was, at this stage, no indication that was what about to occur, occurred,&rdquo; Chambers said.

US President Joe Biden said that the FBI has found an ISIS-inspired video posted by Shamsud-Din Jabbar who had expressed a desire to kill before ramming a pickup truck in New Orleans, which killed 15 people. Aco Martinović, aged 45, killed at least 10 people, including two kids, during a shooting frenzy in the village of Bajice near Cetinje in Montenegro before taking his own life. A Tesla Cyberctruck exploded outside US President Trump's hotel in Las Vegas, killing one in the accident. The investigation by the authorities is underway. "The FBI also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media indicating that he was inspired by ISIS, expressing a desire to kill. The ISIS flag was found in his vehicle which he rented to conduct this attack. Possible explosives were found in the vehicle as well, and more explosives were found nearby...The investigation is continuing to be active and no one should jump to conclusions," Biden said.
The FBI said 42-year-old US Army veteran Jabbar was driving a Ford F-150 electric pickup truck and an Islamic State flag was found in his vehicle.
It also said that it does not believe that Jabbar was the only one behind the Bourbon Street attack.
"We do not believe that Shamsud Din Jabbar was solely responsible for the Bourbon Street attack. We're aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associates. That's why we need the public's help. We&rsquo;re asking if anybody has had any interaction with Shamsud Din Jabbar in the last 72 hours, contact us. Anyone who has information, video or pictures, provide it to the FBI," said FBI Agent Alethea Duncan.

The US president said, &ldquo;I want you to know I grieve with you. Our nation grieves with you as you mourn and as you heal.&rdquo; &nbsp;
&ldquo;My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday,&rdquo; Biden said in a statement.
&ldquo;There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation&rsquo;s communities.&rdquo;
"Here's what we know so far. The FBI has reported to me, the killer was an American citizen, born in Texas. He served in the United States Army on active duty for many years. He also served in the Army Reserve until a few years ago. <h2>What happened during the New Orleans attack?</h2>
Police said that Jabbar drove his pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street at approximately 3:15 am on Wednesday (Jan 1) killing 15 people.
New Orleans Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick described him as being &ldquo;hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did.&rdquo; She further added that Jabbar&rsquo;s intention appeared to be to &ldquo;run over as many people as he could.&rdquo; Additionally, two police officers were shot by the suspect, but both are now in stable condition.
The FBI said that he died following a gunfight with the police. After the truck came to a stop, Jabbar opened fire on officers, who returned fire, leading to his death.

According to authorities, the man, named Aco Martinović, went on a rampage at around 5:30 pm local time (1630 GMT) in Bajice village near Cetinje but later moved to nearby locations.
&ldquo;He killed four people at the bar, and then continued shooting at three more locations," said Police chief Lazar Scepanovic. &ldquo;He tried to take the lives of four more people, and then fled with the vehicle he was using, which we have found.&rdquo;
Scepanovic told media that a manhunt was launched to nab the suspect but the man killed himself after being surrounded by police officers. "An attempt was made to transport him to a clinical centre but he succumbed to his injuries in the meantime," the officer said. According to the interior minister, Danilo Saranovic, the suspect had also "killed members of his own family".
Prime Minister Milojko Spajic described the incident as &ldquo;terrible tragedy&rdquo;, saying it has &ldquo;struck all of us in Centinje.&rdquo;

"It was simply a restaurant fight where guns were drawn and everything went in a different direction in which it should not have gone," he said. "This is a tragedy after which we must ask ourselves who should be allowed to possess firearms in Montenegro," said the PM.
President Jakov Milatović said he was &ldquo;shocked and stunned&rdquo; by the tragedy. &ldquo;Instead of holiday joy &hellip; we have been gripped by sadness over the loss of innocent lives&rdquo;, he said on X.

At least four people were left wounded during the rampage and they were rushed to a hospital in the capital Podgorica. Police Chief Scepanovic later confirmed their lives were "no longer in danger".
The officer said the 45-year-old gunman consumed alcoholic beverages all day before he went on the shooting spree. He earlier "went home, took a weapon, used firearms and killed four people at one location" and then moved to three other places.
The government has declared three days of national mourning.
