The law, officially named SB129, imposes strict limitations on what it deems as eight "divisive concepts," including "fault, blame, or bias" to any race, religion, gender, or colour.&nbsp;

It also prohibits discussions questioning whether "slavery and racism are aligned with the founding principles of the United States."&nbsp;

The law also grants authority to state agencies to discipline or terminate employees or contractors who violate its provisions.

Furthermore, SB129 mandates higher education institutions to designate bathrooms based on "biological sex", effectively preventing transgender individuals from using public facilities aligning with their gender identity.

In a statement, Governor Ivey said her administration "will continue to value Alabama’s rich diversity", but added that she is duty-bound to stop “bad actors on college campuses … to push their liberal political movement counter to what the majority of Alabamians believe".

But following a flurry of media reports and public attention, it had by early Wednesday been defaced. Images shared on social media showed two streaks of white paint strewn across the bright green artwork.

"It's sad to see the piece has been defaced," an Islington Council spokesperson said.

"We are discussing future solutions with the homeowner, to enable everyone to enjoy the artwork while protecting it, the tree, and the surrounding area.

"We're also in the process of installing a CCTV camera."

In December, police arrested two men on suspicion of theft and criminal damage after a Banksy artwork was removed from a south London street corner within hours of appearing there.

That installation, a traffic stop sign covered with three aircraft resembling military drones, emerged at an intersection in the Peckham neighbourhood.

Witnesses filmed it being removed by a man with bolt cutters, with the help of another man.

In a major milestone, a team of doctors successfully transplanted a genetically-edited pig (porcine) kidney into a living patient for the very first time.

The surgeons carried out the four-hour long operation on Saturday (Mar 16) on a 62-year-old man suffering from end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), said Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) on Thursday (Mar 21).

“The procedure marks a major milestone in the quest to provide more readily available organs to patients,” the hospital said in a statement.

The hospital said that organ shortages were an occurring issue globally and over 1,400 patients were on the waiting list seeking a kidney transplant at MGH alone.

“Our hope is that this transplant approach will offer a lifeline to millions of patients worldwide who are suffering from kidney failure,” said Dr Tatsuo Kawai, a member of the team that carried out the operation. &nbsp;

Elucidating on the procedure carried out by the surgeons, the hospital said that the pig kidney which was used in the transplant was genetically edited to ensure harmful pig genes were removed from the organ.

It said that certain human genes were also added to it in order to make it fit for the human body.

The hospital stated the patient, Richard Slayman of Weymouth, Massachusetts, who had undergone the transplant, was "recovering well at MGH and is expected to be discharged soon".

Slayman, who also suffered from Type 2 diabetes and hypertension previously received a kidney transplant in the year 2018.

However, five years later, the organ began to fail and he had been on dialysis since then.

Slayman said that he okayed getting the pig kidney transplanted as it would not only help him but also generate hope for "the thousands of people who need a transplant to survive”.

A Trump campaign official told CNN that their campaign and joint fundraising committee brought in $20.3 million in February and they entered this month with a combined $41.9 million cash.&nbsp;

U.N. aid agencies have said "overwhelming obstacles" to moving aid to the north of Gaza will only be overcome with a ceasefire and the opening of border crossings closed by Israel after Oct. 7. Tedros said WHO's requests to deliver supplies to the enclave were often blocked or refused. Israel's offensive on Thursday focused on the Al Shifa hospital, the only partially working medical facility in the north of the Strip, for a fourth day.
