Surprisingly, now not just metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata hold pride parades, but over 21 Indian cities have held parades and marches, signifying growing support for the community in the country. This year too, the country will witness multiple events during Pride Month.&nbsp;

<h2>Challenges Ahead&nbsp;</h2>

There is now growing support for the LGBTQIA+ community across the globe, with 5 in 10 people&nbsp;surveyed&nbsp;saying that they support openly queer folks. In an interesting&nbsp;survey,&nbsp;the Pew Research Centre found out that 53 per cent&nbsp;of adults in India support marriage equality and its legalisation.

But despite the support, there remain growing challenges for the queer community. US officials have&nbsp;warned&nbsp;that terror organisations may try to target Pride events across the globe and have asked their citizens to 'exercise increased caution.'&nbsp;

Recently, a Christian lifeguard&nbsp;sued&nbsp;the city of Los Angeles for 'severe emotional distress' after he was stationed near a Pride flag.

Significantly,&nbsp;Russia&nbsp;has added the LGBTQIA+ movement to its list of 'terror' and 'extremist' organisations. This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China where he said that Ukraine may take the opportunity to get a broader group of countries to back Volodymyr Zelensky's demand for a total Russian withdrawal at the Swiss talks.

Putin during his visit to China also expressed support for Beijing's strategy for a peaceful settlement of the ongoing conflict stating that China had a complete understanding of what lay behind the crisis.

The Swiss foreign ministry said it noted the conditions for China's participation have not yet been met, particularly as Russia is "currently not involved" in the peace conference.

"For Switzerland, Russia's involvement in the peace process is also essential. The (ministry) it is working actively to involve Russia in the peace process," it added.

The Swiss ministry, which previously highlighted its desire to involve Russia in the peace process, said over 80 countries had shared their confirmation for taking part in the conference.

European investigators believe Russia may be behind a series of incidents, including an arson attack in East London, a massive fire that destroyed Poland's largest shopping mall, sabotage in Bavaria, Germany, and antisemitic graffiti discovered in Paris.

However there is no evidence that any of these incidents across the continent are coordinated.&nbsp; 
The security services believe they could be part of an attempt by Moscow to destabilise the west, which has backed Ukraine.

In the past, foreign intelligence relied on classic spies and their handlers. However, the rise of social media has created a new landscape. Now, attackers can be easily recruited online, acting as "pay-as-you-go saboteurs" for a few hundred Euros or even cryptocurrency. This makes it much harder to trace connections between them and any central organization.

These attacks could be the work of Russia &nbsp;and the matter was raised at a summit of foreign and defence ministers in Brussels this week with Dutch, Estonian and Lithuanian security officials all warning of national vulnerabilities.

Last week, Tusk revealed Polish authorities had arrested nine people in connection with acts of sabotage allegedly committed on the orders of Russian services.

The crimes allegedly included “beatings, arson and attempted arson” and the investigators checking whether Russia was involved in the fire in a shopping centre in Warsaw.

Although the Russian embassy described it as as a conspiracy theory.

“They have conducted similar operations in Estonia. They hired 10 people to attack the car of the interior minister and a journalist’s car. This is normal behaviour of Russia,” he said in Brussels while addressing an EU defence summit.

German authorities arrested two individuals with dual German-Russian citizenship in April. They were suspected of planning sabotage attacks, including an explosion and arson at a military base in Bavaria. Prosecutors allege the main suspect communicated directly with Russian intelligence.
