Trump's decision to join TikTok was prompted by the Trump Media &amp; Technology Group Corp. (TMTG)'s share price plummeting on Friday following his conviction on Thursday for criminal offences. TMTG, the owner of the social media platform Truth Social, is led by the former president, who is also the company's majority shareholder.

He was found guilty of all 34 charges by a New York jury in connection with an unlawful conspiracy to sway the 2016 election by paying hush money to a porn star who claimed to have had sex with him.

Despite the controversies surrounding TikTok, the fact that Trump, the presumed Republican nominee, joined the platform a few months after President Joe Biden's campaign indicates that both camps see it as a potent messaging tool to reach voters before November's election.

A jury in Idaho, United States, on Saturday (Jun 1) unanimously agreed that convicted killer Chad Daybell deserves the death penalty for the gruesome murders of his wife and his girlfriend’s two youngest children. The sentence brings an end to the grim case which began as a search for two missing kids around five years ago.

<h2>What happened in the court?</h2>

The self-styled prophet, Daybell, who told the world that the apocalypse was coming and spoke about dark spirits, according to prosecutors lusted for sex, money and power.&nbsp;

The 55-year-old convicted killer was seen in court wearing a dress shirt and tie and sat with his hands in his lap at the defence table, according to the Associated Press.&nbsp;

“This has been a tough case because of its complexity, both in telling the story of an investigation that spanned years and trying to figure out the best way to present it in a way that would make sense to others,” Fremont County Prosecutor Lindsey Blake said outside the Boise courthouse after the sentencing, as quoted by AP.&nbsp;

<h2>About the case</h2>

The case which gripped the US began in 2019 after a family member reported two missing children.

The mother of the children <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/explained-doomsday-cult-mom-lori-vallow-found-guilty-of-killing-her-two-children-husbands-ex-wife-591876">Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty</a> of the murders of her two youngest children and her new husband, Chad’s previous wife last year and is serving life in prison.

Vallow Daybell – who was Chad’s second wife – is also awaiting trial in Arizona where she has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, who was JJ’s father.

Lori and Chad deemed people either “light” or “dark” spirits and called those who had been taken over by evil spirits “zombies”.

Police records showed a friend told the authorities that Vallow Daybell called both children “zombies” prior to their disappearance.&nbsp;

The two children were last seen alive in September 2019 before the police discovered they were missing for a month after their extended family raised concerns.&nbsp;

Nearly a year later, the children’s remains were found buried on Chad Daybell’s property.&nbsp;

The 16-year-old’s DNA was found on a pickaxe and shovel in a shed on the property, according to the prosecutors. Meanwhile, JJ’s body was wrapped in trash bags and duct tape.&nbsp;

“This is the best justice we can possibly get. And again, it doesn’t change the outcome, but it is good news, and it brings closure for everybody that’s been hurt,” said Colby Ryan, Vallow Daybell’s oldest child.&nbsp;

Larry Woodcock, JJ’s grandfather, thanked the judge, law enforcement and the people who have been following the case and shared their support over the years. “We saw justice,” he added.

The jurors had to unanimously agree that Daybell met at least one of the “aggravating circumstances” that state law says qualifies someone for capital punishment to impose the death penalty.&nbsp;

IEC CEO Mosotho Moepya said that the election authority will work through the night to resolve the 579 objections that have been received in order to proceed with the declaration of the final result.&nbsp;

Moepya also expressed confidence in the transparency of the systems put in place by the IEC to ensure “credible, free and fair elections”.&nbsp;

<h2>‘Don’t start trouble when there is no trouble’</h2>

Speaking at a press conference, late Saturday, Zuma insisted that the official result not be announced on Sunday after his party and at least 20 others lodged objections with the IEC over what they claimed was vote rigging.&nbsp;

The former president’s party, in addition to an inquiry into the elections, has also called for a recount and threatened to take legal action against IEC. However, he provided no evidence to back these claims.&nbsp;

“We are going to need the time. Nobody must declare (the final election result) tomorrow. If that happens, people will be provoked, we know what we are talking about,” said Zuma adding,&nbsp;“Nobody is going to die if the results are not announced tomorrow.”

“Don’t start trouble when there is no trouble,” said the former president. He also said that the complaints need to be looked into by the IEC as “those being in charge cannot investigate themselves”.&nbsp;

Zuma’s brief imprisonment in 2021 led to riots which claimed more than 350 lives, in the country’s worst violence since the advent of democracy. The former president was found guilty of contempt of court by the country’s highest court at the time. &nbsp;

“We want a total revote,” MK spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said at the results centre, minutes before an electoral commission news conference was due to start, according to Reuters.&nbsp;

Pickton, 74, a former pig farmer from western Canada, was one of the country’s most notorious killers. Although he was convicted and sentenced for six murders, he was suspected of killing dozens of women.&nbsp;

“We are mindful that this offender’s case has had a devastating impact on communities in British Columbia and across the country,” said the Correctional Service of Canada.

In 2007, Pickton was convicted of six counts of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison for killing drug addicts and sex workers and butchering their remains at his pig farm. &nbsp;

He was convicted of killing six women – Sereena Abotsway, Mona Wilson, Andrea Joesbury, Brenda Ann Wolfe, Papin and Marnie Frey – whose partial remains were found on his ramshackle property near Vancouver’s suburb of Port Coquitlam.&nbsp;

While Pickton was charged with the murders of 26 women, the government prosecutors later dropped charges for an additional 20 murders after he was sentenced to life in prison.

The victims were among the 60 women who disappeared from Vancouver’s seediest, drug-infested Downtown Eastside neighbourhood over more than a decade until Pickton’s arrest in 2002.&nbsp;

The remains or DNA of 33 women were found on Pickton’s pig farm. He once also bragged about killing a total of 49 women to an undercover police officer.&nbsp;

During his trial, prosecution witness Andrew Bellwood said Pickton told him how he strangled his victims and fed their remains to his pigs, as per the Associated Press.

The testimony prompted health officials to issue a tainted meat advisory to neighbours who might have bought pork from Pickton’s farm amid concerns that the meat might have contained human remains.

“This is gonna bring healing for, I won’t say all families, I’ll just say most of the families,” said&nbsp;Cynthia Cardinal, whose sister Georgina Papin was murdered by Pickton.&nbsp;

“The next president of Mexico will have to deal with a series of legal disputes that the United States, supported by Canada, has filed within the framework of the USMCA,” said Lila Abed, director of the Mexico Institute at the Wilson Center.

“From López Obrador’s ban on the import of transgenic corn for human consumption; the shift towards a nationalist energy policy, which has affected US investments in electricity and hydrocarbons, as well as the little importance given to clean energies,” Abed said.

<h2>Migration</h2>

While migration across the countries’ is a shared concern, the matter is much lower on Mexican politicians’ agenda than in the US.

According to Carin Zissis, editor-in-chief of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas website, “the speeches of Sheinbaum and Gálvez on migration are neither very strong nor very unlike from each other, nor do they address too much what to do with migrants in the country."

While addressing the citizens of Israel, Biden said that he has made a life-long commitment to the country.
