The US military said that two cruise missiles launched by Yemen's Iranian-backed Houthi rebels struck a bulk cargo carrier in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday. The strike severely injured a sailor who was evacuated by American forces in an aircraft from the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58).&nbsp;

In a statement, the US Central Command said that the M/V Verbena, a Palauan-flagged, Ukrainian-owned, Polish-operated ship, "reported damage and subsequent fires on board. The crew continues to fight the fire. One civilian mariner was severely injured during the attack". The cargo carrier had docked in Malaysia and was on its way to Italy carrying wood.&nbsp;

This attack is the latest such assault in the Houthis' campaign over the Israel-Hamas war. They have said that they attack vessels in solidarity with Palestinians. The Houthis have been targeting vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since November 2023.&nbsp;

The latest attack comes a day after a Greek-owned cargo ship, which was reportedly travelling to India, was struck by a small craft off Yemen's Red Sea port of Hodeidah, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Wednesday (Jun 12).&nbsp;

UKMTO, which is run by Britain's Royal Navy, said in an official release that it&nbsp;received a report of an incident 66NM southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.&nbsp;

News agency Reuters reported that a Greek shipping ministry source, confirmed&nbsp;the incident and said that the vessel was also attacked from the air. The source also revealed that the ship was sailing to India when it was hit.&nbsp;

The official on condition of anonymity told the news agency "it was hit twice by air and by sea. There are no reports of injuries".&nbsp;

"It's personal to me. I have a beautiful one-year-old grandson because of the miracle of IVF."

Republicans criticised the bill as excessive and accused Democrats of using it to "show vote" and create alarm about IVF access.&nbsp;

Texas Senator Ted Cruz asserted that no senators were attempting to ban IVF. "Let's be clear: No one is trying to ban IVF. Not one senator," he said.

Sunak's campaign has also been hit by sharp criticism after he left D-Day memorial events in France earlier than other world leaders.

Other opinion polls show the Conservatives much further ahead of Reform.

Despite overtaking Sunak's Conservatives in Thursday's poll - which reflected the share of a nationwide vote - Reform is not forecast to win many, if any, parliamentary seats.

Its support is spread comparatively evenly across the country, whereas backing for the larger and more established parties is more concentrated by geographic areas.&nbsp;

Britain has a first-past-the-post electoral system, meaning Reform could pick up millions of votes across the country without winning any of parliament's 650 individual constituencies.
