Russian authorities on Tuesday (July 9) issued an arrest warrant against Yulia&nbsp;Navalnaya, the wife of deceased Opposition leader Alexei Navalny.&nbsp;

The court said it had "approved the request of the investigators and decided a preventive measure in the form of detention for two months".&nbsp;

Navalnaya has vowed to continue the work of her husband Alexei Navalny, Russian leader Vladimir Putin's main opponent who died in an Arctic prison in February.

The activist's team also dismissed the allegations.

Navalnaya "was arrested (in absentia!) for 'being a member of an extremist community' by the infamous Basmanny court of Moscow," wrote Leonid Volkov, Navalny's former chief of staff, on X.&nbsp;

"Quite a recognition of&nbsp;Yulia's determination to continue Alexei’s fight!" he added.&nbsp;

Navalny's organisations have been outlawed in Russia, labelled an "extremist" group and put on an official "terrorist" list.

Navalnaya, an economist, stood by her husband as he galvanised mass protests in Russia, flying him out of the country when he was poisoned before defiantly returning to Moscow with him in 2021, knowing he would be jailed.

Misusing the technology, 15 school kids in Spain created AI-generated nude images of their peers. These pictures were later circulated on WhatsApp, after which the parents of these girls approached the police.&nbsp;

The incident happened in the Extremaduran town of Almendralejo where the 15 schoolchildren have now been sentenced to a year’s probation. The matter once again raked up debate on the misuse of the technology and how deepfake can devastate the future world. Following the investigation, police identified the accused as being 13 to 15 year olds, who created and shared the images.

On Tuesday, a youth court in the city of Badajoz said the minors had been convicted of 20 counts of creating child abuse images and 20 counts of offences against their victims’ moral integrity. Besides a year’s probation, the children have been ordered to attend classes on gender and equality awareness, and on the “responsible use of technology”.

“The sentence notes that it has been proved that the minors used artificial intelligence applications to obtain manipulated images of [other minors] by taking girls’ original faces from their social media profiles and superimposing those images on the bodies of naked female bodies,” the court said in a statement. “The manipulated photos were then shared on two WhatsApp groups.”

Spanish law states that minors under 14 cannot be charged and their cases are sent to child protection services. Such kids most often also take part in rehabilitation courses.

When the matter came to light, a mother of one of the victims told Reuters, “Many girls were completely terrified and had tremendous anxiety attacks because they were suffering this in silence. They felt bad and were afraid to tell and be blamed for it.”

Another mother, talking to The Guardian, said, "The image is completely realistic … If I didn’t know my daughter’s body, I would have thought that image was real."

The Malvaluna Association, which took action on behalf of the affected families, says the matter raises the need for proper sex education at schools as learning about sex through pornography “generates more sexism and violence”. It added that the case will have widespread implications.&nbsp;

Head of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah said on Wednesday that his group would cease its cross-border attacks on Israel if a ceasefire was reached between Israel and&nbsp;Hamas, and that his group would recognise Hamas, the Palestinian ally's decision on Gaza truce negotiations.

Israel's retaliatory attack after Palestinian militant group's October 7 attack sparked hostilities in the Gaza Strip, and Hezbollah has exchanged nearly daily fire with Israeli forces in support of Hamas, raising fears of a full-fledged conflict.

Nasrallah stated, "Hamas is negotiating... on behalf of the whole axis of resistance," referring to regional pro-Iran forces opposing Israel and the US.

"Whatever Hamas accepts, everyone accepts and is satisfied with," he said.&nbsp;

"We do not ask (Hamas) to coordinate with us because the battle in the first instance is theirs," he added.

Nasrallah's statement comes days after meeting with a Hamas delegation led by Foreign Relations Chief Khalil al-Hayya, and just before talks to negotiate a ceasefire and hostage release deal were about to start in Qatar on the Gaza war, which is currently in its tenth month.&nbsp;

Hamas has signalled that it may remove its demand for a "complete" ceasefire, which Israel has consistently rejected, as a prerequisite for starting truce talks.

"If a ceasefire is reached, and we all hope for that... our front will cease-fire without any discussion," Hezbollah supremo said.&nbsp;

UK police on Wednesday (Jul 10) detained a man, after an extensive search campaign, suspected of killing three women in Bushey, northwest of London, with a crossbow. The man was caught in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield, north London. The suspect was found with injuries and was being treated. Police officers fired no shots during the exercise, as per reports in local media.

The tragic incident, which the police termed 'targeted', happened Tuesday as the Hertfordshire Police were called to the murder site just before 7 pm local time. The police found the three women, aged 25, 28 and 61, with critical injuries.

The three victims have been identified as the relatives of&nbsp;news broadcaster BBC's&nbsp;racing commentator John Hunt. His wife and two daughters became targets of the attack, said BBC in a statement. Police earlier said they believed the suspect was known to the victims.

Emergency services were rushed to the scene, including a Hazardous Area Response Team and two air ambulances. However, the ladies were pronounced dead on the scene by the doctors.

<h2>The suspect</h2>

Police have identified the suspect as Kyle Clifford and issued an appeal to the public regarding his whereabouts.

The 26-year-old suspect is understood to have served in the British Army for a brief period until he quit in 2022.&nbsp;

The authorities have advised people not to approach Clifford as he may still be in possession of the crossbow that he may have used in the murder. Police didn’t rule out the possibility of the use of some other weapon.

The man was caught in the Hilly Fields area of Enfield, north London. The suspect was found with injuries and was being treated. Police officers fired no shots during the exercise, as per reports in local media. The tragic incident, which the police termed 'targeted', happened Tuesday as the Hertfordshire Police were called to the murder site just before 7 pm local time. The police found the three women, aged 25, 28 and 61, with critical injuries. The three victims have been identified as the relatives of news broadcaster BBC's racing commentator John Hunt. His wife and two daughters became targets of the attack, said BBC in a statement. Police earlier said they believed the suspect was known to the victims. Emergency services were rushed to the scene, including a Hazardous Area Response Team and two air ambulances. However, the ladies were pronounced dead on the scene by the doctors. The suspect Police have identified the suspect as Kyle Clifford and issued an appeal to the public regarding his whereabouts. The 26-year-old suspect is understood to have served in the British Army for a brief period until he quit in 2022. The authorities have advised people not to approach Clifford as he may still be in possession of the crossbow that he may have used in the murder. Police didn’t rule out the possibility of the use of some other weapon. He pledged to forcefully defend Ukraine against Russia's invasion and announced a "historic donation" of critical new air defence capabilities to bolster Kyiv's fight against Russia. Biden announced an additional Patriot air defence system for Ukraine. Two new Patriot systems are already being given by Germany and Romania, and the Netherlands is putting together another one using parts provided by&nbsp;allies.&nbsp;

The air defences "will help to protect Ukrainian cities, civilians, and soldiers," Biden said in a joint statement with other leaders.

Additional strategic air defence systems are expected to be announced this year.

Zelensky had earlier stressed the need for a minimum of seven Patriot systems and will meet Biden on Thursday.

"We are fighting for additional security guarantees for Ukraine - and these are weapons and finances, political support," he said on social media.

"The United States will make sure that when we export critical air defense interceptors, Ukraine goes to the front of the line. They will get this assistance before anyone else gets it," Biden declared. The AP, citing unnamed officials, reported that the pier will be reinstalled temporarily to move humanitarian supplies that have accumulated in Cyprus and on a floating dock offshore since it was dismantled due to bad weather conditions on June 28.

Notably the pier proposal was first introduced by US President Joe Biden in March. The pier was a temporary measure for allowing the aid across land crossings by Israel.

Since being positioned on May 17, the pier has been operational for fewer than 20 days. During most of that time, aid deliveries were merely unloaded on the beach and not distributed throughout Gaza due to security concerns.
