<p>At the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Wednesday night, the head of the US Secret Service was confronted by Republican senators, one of whom was the top GOP member of the&nbsp;Senate.</p>

<p>They wanted her to step down or provide a detailed account of&nbsp;the security lapses that almost led to the death of former United States&nbsp;President Donald&nbsp;Trump.</p>

<p>At the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Secret Service director Kimberly A&nbsp;Cheatle was strongly confronted by Senators John Barrasso of Wyoming, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee. A staff member filmed the encounter and shared it with a reporter.</p>

<p>Both senators said that when they heard that Cheatle was in the arena, they decided to confront her. Barrasso said that they were joined by Senators James Lankford of Oklahoma and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota.</p>

<p>Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the US Secret Service, released a statement saying&nbsp;that Cheatle "has no intentions to step down" and that "continuity of operations is paramount during a critical incident."</p>

<p>"She deeply respects members of Congress," Guglielmi added, "and is fiercely committed to transparency in leading the Secret Service through the internal investigation and strengthening the agency through lessons learned in these important internal and external reviews."</p>

<p>In an interview inside the convention arena, Barrasso said that he and Blackburn only gave up their pursuit of Cheatle after she fled into a restroom.</p>

<p>"She ran up a flight of steps, and we were up with her. And it looked like she then went into a ladies’ room and her security closed the door and locked the door," he said.</p>

<p>An Indigenous tribe in the Peruvian Amazon that has never been contacted has emerged from a rainforest amid threats of encroachments from the loggers. Photos and videos released by the human rights group Survival International show the Mashco Piro people walking out of a forest in southeast Peru. There are fears that the presence of loggers in the region can trigger violence between the tribe and the loggers. The videos and photos were taken in June.</p>

<p>Survival International says the Mashco Piro is the largest uncontacted tribe in the world. They were given a territorial reserve in 2002, but logging operations happening just a few miles from the place the tribe was seen has potentially spread fear amid the tribe. Notably, the Peruvian government gave concessions to a bunch of logging companies within the tribe's territory, setting up the stage for a clash between them.</p>

<p>The scenes are from the banks of the Las Piedras River in Monte Salvado located within the Madre de Dios province of Peru, bordering Bolivia and Brazil. According to Survival International, another 17 of them were seen near the neighbouring village of Puerto Nuevo, says.</p>

<p>Experts say that any kind of interaction between the tribe and the loggers can spread diseases among the tribal people&nbsp;which might "wipe out" the Mashco Piro. Alfredo Vargas Pio, president of regional Indigenous organization FENAMAD, said in a press release, “This is irrefutable evidence that many Mashco Piro live in this area, which the government has not only failed to protect but actually sold off to logging companies."</p>

<p>The Indian-American politician called on diverse American groups, including black Americans, legal immigrants, and Gen Z, to support conservative values and Trump's vision for America.</p>

<p>Ramaswamy argued that Trump's presidency represents a return to fundamental American ideals. He stressed the importance of addressing the current national identity crisis by standing firm on conservative values.</p>

<p>"We're in the middle of a national identity crisis. Faith, patriotism, hard work, and family have disappeared – replaced by race, gender, sexuality &amp; climate. But we’re not going to win this election by just criticising the other side. We're going to WIN this by standing for our own vision," he said.</p>
