A 15-year-old boy has been detained after allegedly killing five members of his&nbsp;family and injuring another at a Fall City home in Washington, authorities said on Tuesday, October 22.

Police found two adults and three children dead at the lakeside house 25 miles east of Seattle on Monday. Another teenage girl was found injured, who was shot twice but escaped from the scene and is receiving treatment in hospital.

Mike Mellis, a deputy with the King County Sheriff’s Office, said the shooting was a “family incident” and confirmed that the youth has been taken into custody. While all six members of the family lived in the same home, their relationships with each other are not yet known.

A 911 call was made by someone in the home. "They shot the other family members, I believe there is five total, not including the RP (reporting party) who’s hiding in the bathroom," a dispatcher said during a call, according to Fox13.

"I only saw the children in the driveway yesterday afternoon," Lynne Trowern, a neighbour, told Fox13. She described that it had been quiet until around 4 pm after which the family came home and one of the boys played the piano in the garage. "I’m shocked. I kept bursting into tears."

“This incident was a very contained tragedy within a family or within an extended family or within the residence,” Mellis said. “As bad as it is, at least it stayed contained within this property.”

The teen boy has been detained at the King County Juvenile Detention Center.

Over 30 countries have expressed a desire to join the BRICS, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday addressing a meeting of the grouping.

Addressing world leaders at the Plenary Session of the 16th BRICS Summit, Putin said the group would discuss its expansion at the meeting but that it was important to strike a balance in any expansion, Reuters news agency reported.

During the session held at the Kazan Expo Center in the Russian city of&nbsp;Kazan, Putin said, "Over 30 countries have expressed the desire to join BRICS."

"It would be wrong to ignore the unprecedented interest of the countries of the Global South and East in strengthening contacts with BRICS," Putin said.

He further said that the group would discuss its expansion at the meeting, while keeping in mind the need to maintain efficiency, according to Reuters.

Later in the day, PM Modi is set to have a bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit.

The meeting in the capital of Tatarstan marks the first formal interaction between the two leaders in five years and follows the two countries reaching an agreement on resuming regular patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

Meanwhile, Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, shared a joint photo of the leaders of the grouping, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi that was taken ahead of the Summit.

He said, "I think one of the focus areas is, I wouldn't say the expansion of BRICS, but what we are discussing right now which is the modalities and guidelines for implementing a partner country model with BRICS. Addressing a media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the two leaders also shared perspectives on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Prime Minister reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy were the way forward to achieve resolution of the conflict. He briefed President Putin about his engagements with the Ukrainian leadership and noted that India stood ready to contribute in bringing peace to the region.

"An important issue that came up was the issue of early discharge of the remaining Indian nationals in the Russian army. This figured from both sides in the discussion and with the support of the Russian side, a number of Indian nationals have, in recent months, been able to return to India. We understand that currently the embassy is pursuing around 20 cases with the Russian side and we very much hope that all of these individuals can be released at an early date and be repatriated to India very soon," he said.

Misri said the two sides also expressed satisfaction at the ongoing defence cooperation and agreed to hold the next meeting of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Cooperation Group on Defence Cooperation in Moscow at an early date.

On energy cooperation, in which there is engagement between India and Russia on building nuclear power plants in India, it was agreed that the Department of Atomic Energy and the Russian agency Rosatom would continue to remain in touch to adhere to the mutually agreed schedule for the installation of the remaining units, that is units 3 to 6 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project.

Economic cooperation figured quite prominently in the talks and the two sides discussed the possibility of further cooperation in the financial sector, Misri said. Sustaining supply chains for the steady and regular sourcing of fertilisers and coal from Russia was also discussed and President Putin promised assistance in this regard as well, he added.

The Foreign Secretary said India will host the 25th session of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on trade, technical, economic and cultural cooperation in New Delhi on November 12, 2024, for which the Russian delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.&nbsp;

"As I had pointed out just a couple of days ago as well, India is at this time working with the Russian side to open a new consulate right here in Kazan in the not too distant future. Another new consulate that was announced sometime back will be opened in Yekaterinburg," he said.

PM Modi said in a post on X that he had an excellent meeting with President Putin. "The bond between India and Russia is deep-rooted. Our talks focussed on how to add even more vigour to our bilateral partnership across diverse sectors," he said.

An official release said the two leaders agreed to remain engaged to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which continues to register significant growth and has shown resilience in the backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties.

Misri said the two leaders discussed the progress made in bilateral relations since the 22nd annual Summit between them, which was held in July this year in Moscow.

"The two leaders had an extensive agenda to go over the whole range of bilateral issues including trade, economy, energy, defence, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties were discussed between the two of them. Regional and global issues of mutual concern also came up for discussion. The two leaders also exchanged views on several matters concerning BRICS and President Putin expressed his appreciation for India's constructive attitude and contributions in concluding the documents related to the Kazan BRICS Summit."

The Foreign Secretary said India has old historical links with Kazan, a city which lay on an ancient trade route.

On his arrival at the hotel, PM Modi was greeted by members of the Indian community in Kazan.

The disturbing testimony included questions about a video that had been shown to the court in which she is heard asking to stop.

"It was rape," she said, when asked if her words amounted to consent.

Describing herself as a woman who is 'totally destroyed,' Gisele said rapists could be in families 'and among our friends'.

"This man, who came to rape an unconscious, 57-year-old woman...I am also a mother and grandmother...I could have been his grandmother," she said about one of the accused.

Her private life was dragged into the court too, including questions about her extramarital relationship.

She said she had told her former husband about it.&nbsp;

She noted it was very hard for him. "He couldn’t imagine for a moment I could do that.”

The question about the extramarital affair was raised in the context of an accused man saying Dominique Pelicot had acted out of revenge over it.

There was also a question about what she was wearing in the videos recorded by Dominique Pelicot during the assaults.&nbsp;

The court heard last week how Dominique Pelicot would take off her pyjamas and dress her up in undergarments after drugging her, and before the assaults took place.

She told the court that the undergarments in the videos were not hers, as the man must have kept them somewhere and dressed her up when she was sedated and&nbsp;unconscious.

She shared having consulted three gynaecologists after feeling unwell, and told the court that he may have spiked her food.

Once, she said, he insisted on driving her to a hairdresser, and afterwards she didn't remember the rest of the appoinment at the place.

The court had been told that Dominique Pelicot kept the drugs in the house and mixed them in meals or ice cream after dinner.

She said he had made a lot of meals, which she saw as a sign of him being caring.

On one occasion when she returned after a visit to her grandchildren, he had already made a meal of mashed potatoes, she told the court.&nbsp;

Often, he would bring her ice cream after dinner. "And I thought, ‘How lucky I am, he’s a love."&nbsp;

She said she hardly had any inkling of having been drugged, as she never felt her heart flutter.

"I didn’t feel anything, I must have gone under very quickly. I would wake up with my pyjamas on. The mornings I must have been more tired than usual, but I walk a lot and thought it was that," she told the court, as per the Guardian report.

Gisele Pelicot is expected to return to the court and make more statements as the trial that gripped France and the world would continue into December.

A Sikh teenage girl was found dead inside a walk-in oven of a Walmart store's bakery department in Canada's Halifax city, the regional police said.&nbsp;

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) said that they were informed about a sudden death at the Walmart at 6990 Mumford Road around 9:30 pm (local time)&nbsp;last Saturday.

"The woman, who was an employee of the store, was located in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store's bakery department," HRP said in an update on Tuesday (Oct 22).&nbsp;

The police added that the investigators are probing with the Occupational Health and Safety and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.&nbsp;

The teenage girl recently moved to Canada from India, The Globe and Mail newspaper reported.

However, the cause and manner of death have not been determined yet as of Tuesday, the police said.&nbsp;

A Chinese female blogger has slammed a Fendi outlet in Japan for rudely removing a shawl from her shoulder without asking her. She got so angry at the act that four employees later knelt in front of her to apologise.

SCMP reported that a Xiaohongshu blogger known as Annie Datouzai, who claims to be a fashion specialist, posted about the incident. She has reportedly studied at Columbia University and the University of Toronto and currently lives in New York.

Talking about the incident, she wrote that while travelling in Japan, she visited a Fendi store in Tokyo. She tried on a woollen shawl which she wanted to purchase. But she asked the sales reps to get her a new piece from the stock.&nbsp;

While she was waiting, a senior sales representative went up to her and removed the shawl from her shoulders without permission. He then gave it to a Chinese couple.

"I was completely stunned. Why would a male sales representative take the shawl off my body without any explanation?"&nbsp;Datouzai&nbsp;wrote.

She was livid and tried to file a complaint. But the staff wasn't well-versed in English which caused problems in the process. She said that she felt ignored as well since instead of trying to help her out, the sales rep was completing the sale of the shawl to the Chinese couple.

The store manager asked her to go to the second floor, where the manager, two sales staff, and a translator reportedly knelt down and apologised to her.&nbsp;

He further argued that the store had no surveillance cameras, so it wasn't possible to confirm the incident. The woman checked with another Fendi store in Japan to thwart the no-camera claim.

She later filed a complaint with Fendi’s headquarters and received an apology email from the head of the shop.

People on social media slammed her for exaggerating the incident and getting the staff to kneel down. She later clarified that she did not ask them to do so and was reasonable and calm in the store at all times.

“I am satisfied with how the store manager handled the situation,” she said.

A tribunal made a company pay its former female employee a payout of more than £28,000 after they found that she was fired from her job because she got pregnant again at the end of her maternity leave.

An unfair dismissal claim was launched by Nikita Twitchen after her company First Grade Projects dismissed her from her job as an administrative assistant in Pontypridd in&nbsp;South Wales&nbsp;in April 2022.

The mother-of-two was preparing to come back from maternity leave when she was dismissed by First Grade Projects they found out she was again expecting a child.

The tribunal judgement said that Twitchen had a meeting with the managing director Jeremy Morgan in February 2023 which started on a positive note as he said that "the business was doing well” and informed her that they recently managed to get a contract with the NHS.

A woman found herself caught up in an unexpected fight in the United Kingdom when two stags locked antlers in the middle of a road. The woman sustained injuries in the incident and had to be rushed to the hospital.&nbsp;

The stag fight was reported from Cornwall, a small county in England, and onlookers quickly called the police. Eyewitnesses told CornwallLive that as two stags got into a fight and entangled their antlers, a motorist got trapped between them.

A police spokesperson said, "Police were called to reports of two stags with their antlers entangled at Couch's Mill, near Lostwithiel at around 8 am today, Tuesday 22 October."

"It was also reported that a woman sustained injuries. She was taken to hospital for treatment. Officers attended due to concerns around public safety," they added.

The police further informed that soon after, one of the deers broke free and went away after which the other animal was left behind to recover. "One deer broke free and left the area. The other was left to recover with no further safety concerns," the spokesperson said.

Stags are known to get into a fight with each other over territorial issues. It is currently deer rutting season in the country and stags are on the lookout for females. In their quest, they grow territorial and sometimes engage in violent fights with other males.

According to Forestry England, stags often decide the winner based on their size and other things. They put on a full display of "a series of behaviours aimed at showing off to the hinds (female red deer)". They stamp the ground and roar ferociously to establish dominance.

"If two stags are of a similar size, and these behaviours don't sufficiently establish a winner, they will literally 'lock antlers' and fight for dominance. The fights are ferocious and decisive and the winner takes all," it states.&nbsp;

The deer rutting season begins in September and lasts until around early November.&nbsp;

Eyewitnesses told CornwallLive that as two stags got into a fight and entangled their antlers, a motorist got trapped between them. A police spokesperson said, "Police were called to reports of two stags with their antlers entangled at Couch's Mill, near Lostwithiel at around 8 am today, Tuesday 22 October." "It was also reported that a woman sustained injuries. She was taken to hospital for treatment. Officers attended due to concerns around public safety," they added. The police further informed that soon after, one of the deers broke free and went away after which the other animal was left behind to recover. "One deer broke free and left the area. The other was left to recover with no further safety concerns," the spokesperson said. Stags are known to get into a fight with each other over territorial issues. It is currently deer rutting season in the country and stags are on the lookout for females. In their quest, they grow territorial and sometimes engage in violent fights with other males. Stags lock antlers to win females According to Forestry England, stags often decide the winner based on their size and other things. They put on a full display of "a series of behaviours aimed at showing off to the hinds (female red deer)". They stamp the ground and roar ferociously to establish dominance. However, if this fails to establish a winner, they fight it out by locking horns. "If two stags are of a similar size, and these behaviours don't sufficiently establish a winner, they will literally 'lock antlers' and fight for dominance. The fights are ferocious and decisive and the winner takes all," it states. The deer rutting season begins in September and lasts until around early November. It further states that the master stag mates with all the female deers, and the number can sometimes go up to 20.

Kelly did a series of audio interviews with the NYT and raised concerns that Trump would rule like a dictator if he is re-elected to the White House in November. He told the publication that Trump told him, "Hitler did some good things".&nbsp;

He further confirmed reports that he spoke well of the Nazi leader more than once.

Kelly further stated that the former president fits the definition of a "fascist".

"Certainly the former president is in the far-right area, he's certainly an authoritarian, admires people who are dictators — he has said that. So he certainly falls into the general definition of fascist, for sure," Kelly told the NYT.

Kelly held the post of Homeland Security Secretary under Trump and later moved to the White House in July 2017.&nbsp;

He also alleged that Trump holds no understanding of the Constitution. Kelly told NYT that after taking over as Trump's chief of staff in 2017, he had to explain to him that government officials had taken an oath to the Constitution and it was bigger than loyalty to a person.

Kelly said that Trump was left surprised when he was told about it, and could not believe that "those of us who were former generals and certainly people still on active duty — that the commitment, the loyalty was to the Constitution, without question, without a second thought."

He went on to worsen things for Trump by reiterating his earlier comments made to CNN about reports that Trump had labelled Americans who died in World War I "suckers" and "losers". He stressed that he said this on more than one occasion.&nbsp;
