He warned that the rescue process would be "slow" given the amount of debris but stressed that survivors were sometimes found under rubble up to a week after such collapses.

The body of a man in his eighties was found in the debris.

Between seven and nine people were believed to still be trapped, said the head of the fire service operation, Hugo Piriz.

"It was like a missile fell and split the building in two," a neighbor told the TN television channel.

A 79-year-old woman from the building next door was rescued alive with injuries after she was heard knocking on a pipe.&nbsp;

"We got closer to the noise and managed to hear the voice. It was hard work, it took several hours," Piriz told reporters.

More than 300 rescuers, using drones, sniffer dogs and probes with cameras and microphones, were searching for other survivors.

The hotel was built in 1986.

Villa Gesell municipality said that work was being carried out at the facility "clandestinely, without complying with municipal regulations" and that it had already been halted by the authorities in August.

The foreman and three bricklayers were detained for questioning.

Relatives of the victims gathered near the building to await news of their loved ones as a bulldozer removed debris.

"Time is going by and I want my son alive. I want my son alive and I want him whole," Silvana Perhauc, the mother of one of the missing people, said.

In 2020, the United States-based tech giant was originally penalised 100,000 rubles ($1,029.35) after it lost lawsuits filed by media outlets Tsargrad and RIA FAN challenging the restrictions on their YouTube channels.

<h2>How did Google accumulate the huge fine?</h2>

The massive fine was first reported by state-run news site RBC on Tuesday (Oct 29) and it said that Google had banned other media outlets in 2022 because they supported the invasion of Ukraine by Russia which resulted in more fines.

Last year, Google reported revenue of $306 billion and placed a restriction on the creation of new accounts for Russian people last month. The company also deactivated AdSense accounts present in Russia in August.

Since March 2022, online ads have not been shown to Google users in Russia as part of broader sanctions against the country.

Because of the restrictions, Russian authorities seized the bank accounts of Google and forced the Russian subsidiary of the US firm to file for bankruptcy.&nbsp;

However, Google's free services, which include YouTube and Search, have been operating in Russia.

In the latest quarterly results published on Tuesday evening, Google acknowledged facing legal issues in Russia.

“We have ongoing legal matters relating to Russia,” said the company, in&nbsp;the report.&nbsp;

“For example, civil judgments that include compounding penalties have been imposed upon us in connection with disputes regarding the termination of accounts, including those of sanctioned parties. We do not believe these ongoing legal matters will have a material adverse effect,” it added.

"Google was called by a Russian court to administrative liability under Art. 13.41 of the Administrative Offenses Code for removing channels on the YouTube platform. The court ordered the company to restore these channels," said lawyer Ivan Morozov, while speaking to state-run media&nbsp;TASS.

The fine did not seem to have any impact on Google parent company&nbsp;Alphabet as its shares rose by more than five&nbsp;per cent in after-market trading on Tuesday (Oct 29).

In a new study, researchers have found that there has been a decline in the use of marijuana among teens, however, girls have been using it more in comparison to boys.&nbsp;

The researchers from Florida Atlantic University published the new research in Pediatric Reports which showed that even though there have been growing concerns about the usage of marijuana increasing among teens after its legalisation in the US, it has actually decreased.&nbsp;

In the study, researchers analysed the trend of marijuana use among US teens from 2011 to 2021 with the use of data collected from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey of students from grades 9 to 12.

<h2>Here's what the study revealed</h2>

The study included a total sample of 88,183 US&nbsp;high school students who submitted their self-reports on their marijuana use.

In the time duration studied, the use of marijuana among teens was seen to have a significant decline.

The number of teens who had tried marijuana saw a decrease from 39.9 per cent in 2011 to 27.8 per cent in 2021 and the percentage of students who had reported marijuana use in the last 30 days fell from 23.1 per cent to 15.8 per cent.

There was also a decrease in the percentage of students who had used marijuana for the first time before the age of 13.&nbsp;

Overall the study shows that fewer teens were using marijuana.

“This finding aligns with previous research indicating that minority groups, particularly Black adolescents, may perceive lower risks associated with marijuana use, which could contribute to higher usage rates,” read the study.

An increase was noticed in the rate of marijuana use with each grade level which reached its highest rate among students of class 12.

“While we found a net decline in the percentage of marijuana use among students between 2011 and 2021 for all grade levels, there was consistently higher usage for older grades throughout all years, especially among 12th graders,” the authors stated.

The new trend which was seen in the study was girls were using marijuana more than boys by 2021. “This change is consistent with earlier reports suggesting a narrowing of the gender gap in substance use,” stated the study.&nbsp;

The grassroots government workers in China, after spending decades in the imposition of birth control policies, have now started ringing women and appealing to them to get pregnant amid the country's dwindling demography.

According to a report published in the South China Morning Post, a woman - identified as Jane Huang - received a call from a government official who asked her a very unexpected question, “[Hello!] Is that Ms Huang? Sorry to disturb you. I am from your sub-district office, are you pregnant now?”

The 35-year-old working mother said that the worker went to the extent of asking her when she had her last period and gave her a reminder about now being "the right time” to conceive another baby.

“I laughed so hard when I told my husband about it. The surveyor must be from the previous generation, who did not realise that she was talking to a whole different generation that values privacy, quality of life and choices much more,” said Huang.

China’s Population and Development Research Centre recently announced that a nationwide survey will be conducted to “obtain new data on views on marriage and fertility and key influencing factors”.

The National Bureau of Statistics has approved the Sample Survey on Population and Family Development in China which is targeting women of child-bearing age.&nbsp;

According to the centre, the survey will focus on understanding “the actual difficulties and needs of families in birth and parenting”, as well as the reasons for “not wanting or not daring to have children”, for providing a scientific basis to improve incentives and fertility support policies.
