North Korea said it tested an intercontinental ballistic missile on Thursday, upgrading what it called the "world's most powerful strategic weapon", as Seoul warned Pyongyang could get missile technology from Russia for help with the war in Ukraine.

Shin Seung-ki, head of research on North Korea's military at the state-run Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, said the launch was likely to test improved booster performance of an existing ICBM - possibly with Russia's help.

"North Korea will want to keep getting help like this because it saves times and costs while improving performance and upgrading the stability of weapons system," he said.

The launch early on Thursday was the longest ballistic missile test by the North with a flight-time of 87 minutes, according to South Korea.&nbsp;

KCNA said the test set new records for its missile capabilities.

The missile took off on a sharply lofted trajectory from an area near the North's capital and splashed down about 200 km (125 miles) west of Japan's Okushiri island, off Hokkaido.

It reached an altitude of 7,000 km (4,350 miles)and flew a distance of 1,000 km, the Japanese government said.

The so-called lofted trajectory of a projectile flying at a sharply raised angle is intended to test its thrust and stability over much shorter distances relative to the designed range, partly for safety and to avoid the political fallout of sending a missile far into the Pacific.

North Korea's last ICBM, dubbed the Hwasong-18, was tested in December 2023. Fuelled by solid-propellant and fired from a road launcher, it was also launched at a sharply raised angle and flew for 73 minutes, translating to a potential range of 15,000 km on a normal trajectory.

That is a distance that puts anywhere in the mainland United States within range.

Asked about the missile launch, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said China "has always believed that peace and stability, and promoting a political solution to the peninsula issue is in accordance with the common interests of all sides."

Well into the last days of campaign, Obama appeared to be on a weak position but his emotional and rousing speeches and Demcratic party's massive ground-level surge campaign managed to convince most voters to give him four more years.&nbsp;

The 2012 election also cemented the role of technology, which was already used in the previous one. Data analytics was used as effectively by Obama campaign as grassroot voter mobilisation.

Romeny somehow did not have the same arsenal when it came to using technology, particularly social media outreach to young voters.

There was also an increase in early voting, which is believed to have helped Obama.

If you look at the results map in this story, it is clear that red states and blue states were practically split through the middle of the nation. Obama won the more populous and coastal states where miniorities and immigrants live in large numbers. The pageant queen said that Donald J. Trump American Dream Pageant had sent her an invitation and offered her an all-expense-paid trip to New York and Atlantic City for taking part in the contest.

"Trump, as a brand, was quite something at that time. You could be blinded by all that. I didn't know it's a jungle there," she said.

Speaking about her meeting with Trump, Keul said, "He said, 'Ah we finally meet, Miss Keul. How nice to meet you finally.' He was definitely excited. He stayed a long time. We talked for so long that everybody was staring at us. A good 10 minutes if not 15. I couldn't believe he was so fond of me."

"He took me to the upper floors. It was one of the big suites. I thought Trump wanted to talk, as the other guy told me. I was confident, but I went with closed eyes. When I entered, he jumped on me. I just had time to turn. I was not prepared. I tried to do what I could to get rid of him," she added.

Keul said that Trump groped her while she tried to stop him. "He kissed me on the lips and on the neck. He tried to lift my dress. He was grabbing and touching my body everywhere he could," she said.

Keeping things in a safe place often means forgetting about them entirely. We are all guilty of doing it and often feel frustrated when we realise that safekeeping didn't help.

Something similar happened to a woman in Italy who packed up her entire life savings inside a mattress and years later threw it away, and only remembered about the money after it was taken away.

The woman in her 80s had saved up a total of $53,089 (nearly Rs 45 lakh) and was afraid that thieves might steal her money, The Mirror reported.&nbsp;She didn't trust the banks either and didn't want to keep the money there either. So she tore open a mattress, put it all inside it and sewed it back up.

However, when the mattress became old she threw it out and at the time had forgotten about the money inside it. After she realised her mistake, she started panicking and was left distraught.

She called the police in Montebelluna, and told them about everything, asking them for help to find her mattress. The police wasted no time and got to work right away and were successfully able to locate it. It was returned to the woman who heaved a sigh of relief after finding all the money was still there.

A US woman, 24, was found guilty of murdering her 20-month-old son and dumping him in the Georgia landfill, according to The Associated Press. Leilani Simon killed his son Quinton Simon in 2022 and on 5 Oct 2022, she reported her son missing at the Savannah’s Chatham County Police Department.

After two years of investigation, Leilani was found guilty of the murder on Monday (Oct 28), along with a series of other charges, including concealing a death and making false statements.

The child’s remains were found in a landfill on 18 Nov 2022. Two days later, Leilani was arrested. She was accused of murdering her son and disposing of his body in a dumpster. The mother could face life in prison.

During the court ruling, Leilani was seen crying and wiping off her tears, as the unanimous verdict charged the mother with 19 charges, as per WTOC.
