'Understand the anger': Spanish king reacts after facing furious locals at flood-hit region

<p>Ujjal Dosanjh, a Sikh resident of Canada's Vancouver, B.C, stressed that a silent majority of the Sikhs does not want to have anything to do with Khalistan, adding that less than five per cent of the total Canadian Sikhs support the Khalistani movement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ujjal, 78, a former NDP premier of British Columbia and a former federal cabinet minister under Liberal prime minister Paul Martin, has been extremely vocal about this issue since 1985, when Khalistani extremists bombed Air India Flight 182, killing 329 people and brought the separatist movement to Canada.</p>

<p>He has been determined to convince his fellow Canadians that the overwhelming majority of the nearly 800,000 Sikhs in Canada does not support the Khalistani movement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I’d say less than five per cent, less than five per cent,” he told the Canadian English-language newspaper National Post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A group of men were seen holding Khalistani flags and beating people inside the temple with sticks, according to the viral videos. They hid at the temple gate first and then entered the premises with flags in their hands, while devotees inside the temple could be seen running. Meanwhile, some of the devotees also retaliated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Further, Ujjal said that the "majority of Sikhs don't speak out because they are afraid of violence and violent repercussions."</p>

<p>Ujjal has also received death threats from these extremists, however, he has remained undeterred to stand against it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, he also did not deny the recent events on North American soil, including the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, and the foiled murder plot in the United States against another Sikh separatist, dual US-Canadian citizen, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.</p>

<p>Experts say that the swarm of quakes in the region is not unusual. However, their sheer number has&nbsp;raised concerns that a bigger, more powerful quake might soon occur.</p>

<p>The Las Vegas Valley is at significant risk of being impacted by this level of shaking, and so Christie Rowe, Director of the Nevada Seismological Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno, told KTNV Las Vegas that they are carefully monitoring these swarms.</p>

The research, led by Dr. Alexander Farnsworth, a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol, points to a supercontinent that would one day wipe out life from the planet.</p>

<p>According to the study, in the coming years all the continents on Earth, which they say are slowly drifting, will come together to form a single massive landmass, called Pangea Ultima. This will lead to climate change on a huge scale.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Published in Nature Geoscience, it further says that it would become too hot and dry for most life forms on Earth, making it difficult for them to survive.</p>

<p>The extreme heat will be the result of three main factors, as per Dr Farnsworth.</p>

<p>“The newly-emerged supercontinent would effectively create a triple whammy, comprising the continentality effect, hotter sun and more CO₂ in the atmosphere, of increasing heat for much of the planet,” he says.</p>

<p>The continentality effect is when more land area goes away from the cooling effects of the ocean. A hotter sun will happen at some point in the future, becoming brighter and shooting out more energy that will cause Earth to heat up.</p>

<p>The increased carbon dioxide will be the result of widespread volcanic activity due to tectonic movements. “Widespread temperatures of between 40 to 50 degrees Celsius, and even greater daily extremes, compounded by high levels of humidity would ultimately seal our fate,” Dr Farnsworth added.</p>

<p>The supercontinent is still millions of years away. However, a climate crisis is already looming large over humanity. Scientists say we should remain mindful of the problem at hand.</p>

<p>“It is vitally important not to lose sight of our current Climate Crisis, which is a result of human emissions of greenhouse gases,” co-author Dr Eunice Lo, Research Fellow in Climate Change and Health at the University of Bristol, said.</p>

<p>He added that an "uninhabitable planet" is still 250 million years away, but extreme heat is already wreaking havoc and is detrimental to human health. "This is why it is crucial to reach net-zero emissions as soon as possible.”</p>

<p>But any boost to oil prices would "unlikely" last unless OPEC+ "takes further measures to restrict production", Ozkardeskaya told AFP.</p>

<p>And even then, "their restriction strategy hasn't led to a sustainable rise of oil prices," she said, adding the grouping now accounted for less than half of the global oil output.</p>

<p>Jorge Leon, an analyst with Rystad Energy, said OPEC+ was awaiting the results of the November 5 US presidential election, which "will have a significant impact on the oil market".</p>

<p>"I am not so sure who would Opec prefer, but a trade war would mean lower demand," Leon told AFP, adding a trade war was "likely" if Republican Donald Trump wins.</p>

<p>OPEC+ ministers are due to meet in early December in Vienna at the group's headquarters, but with Sunday's announcement, the eight countries have already decided not to reopen the taps until at least early 2025.</p>

<p>During the last ministerial meeting in June, OPEC+ had still announced they wanted to increase their production from October, though it has stressed that this decision could be reviewed at any time.</p>
