Guyanese president Mohamed Irfan Ali met his Venezuelan counterpart on Thursday. Fresh tensions erupted after Venezuela released a map on the 8th of December showing the disputed area as a part of its territory. This after Venezuelans voted for the creation of a new state in a referendum defying the international court of justice's jurisdiction.
