South Korea has announced a massive expansion of its unmanned aerial capabilities as part of a strategic shift to counter growing threats from North Korea. Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back confirmed that the military aims to procure approximately 11,000 commercial drones by the end of 2026 to serve as training platforms for the country’s ambitious "500,000 Drone Warriors" program.
