In election season, the Bharatiya Janata Party looks to revive the row around handing over of Katchatheevu island in the Palk Strait to Sri Lanka in 1974 and removal of fishing rights for Indian fishermen two years later. An RTI finding reveals the island was signed off to Sri Lanka by the then-Congress government of Indira Gandhi.
