Japan executes ‘Twitter killer’ who lured 9 victims online

Japan has executed Takahiro Shiraishi, known as the “Twitter Killer,” for murdering and dismembering nine people he targeted through social media in 2017. Using his Twitter handle “hangman,” he contacted suicidal victims, promising to help them die. Instead, he killed them and hid their bodies in his apartment near Tokyo. This was Japan’s first execution in nearly three years, carried out by hanging in complete secrecy. Families and lawyers were informed only after his death.
