Haitian PM to step down following gang violence

The Caribbean nation of Haiti is in the grip of its most acute humanitarian crisis since the devastating earthquake in 2010, which took lives of hundreds of thousands. Politically as well, it isn't faring much better. Elections have not been held since 2016 and the presidency remains vacant. Security situation here has plummeted since the assassination of former president, Jovenel Moise, in July 2021 and is today comparable to countries at war. Gangs have launched coordinated attacks on key facilities over the past couple of weeks, ultimately forcing the country's prime minister, Ariel Henry, to pledge that he would step down.
