US Election Result 2024: It is highly likely that the election results will be delayed well after the night of November 5 in the US, or into the next morning, as Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump are locked in what pollsters predicted would be a supertight race for president.

The counting of absentee ballots is going to be long and tedious, as identity checking and verification is going to take time.&nbsp;

In both in-person and postal ballots, there are chances of legal challenges too, complicating and delaying the process futher.

West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins has resigned from the job a day after his arrest in a 'Driving Under Influence' case. Huggins put down his papers Saturday after he was charged with DUI In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.&nbsp;

Notably, the 69-year-old, who has been with his Alma Mater since last 16 years as coach, was also suspended last month by the school for first three games of the upcoming 2023-24. The suspension came after Huggins used a homophobic slur multiple times during a radio interview. Apart from the suspension, $1 million has also been docked from his salary for the upcoming college basketball season. The school also altered his multiyear contract to a year-by-year agreement. The coach was also asked to attend sensitivity training mandatorily.

As for the DUI case, Huggins issued a statement following the incident and accepted letting himself and everybody else down.

"Today, I have submitted a letter to President Gordon Gee and Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker informing them of my resignation and intention to retire as head men's basketball coach at West Virginia University effective immediately," said Huggins in a statement.

<h2>Huggins DUI case</h2>

The West Virginia basketball coach was driving a black SUV in Pittsburgh on Friday night when the police found it blocking the traffic, as reported by the media outlet USA Today citing a police report it had obtained. The car had a flat and shredded tire and the driver side door was open.

The coach found it difficult to move his car to let others pass and police believed 'the male to be intoxicated.' Huggins failed the standard sobriety case performed by the officers, who also found multiple empty metal beer cans inside the car and in the trunk as well in a white garbage bag.

A breathalyzer test showed a reading of .210 upon testing Huggins after he was taken into custody. The reading meant that he had two times more alcohol then permissible limit while driving in the state of Pennsylvania. Huggins, however, was released and will appear for a hearing at a later date.

This may become an important political issue as mid-term elections approach. Result of these elections will decide who controls US Congress.

Republican Party, largely a conservative political force in the US, has for years campaigned to limit access to abortion. However, defeat of a ballot initiative to ban abortions in deeply conservative Kansas has made some Republicans to back away from the issue due to fear of alienating women voters.

The landmark Roe v Wade judgment had given American women constitutional access to abortion. But the judgment was overturned by conservative-majority US Supreme Court in June this year. Number of states in the US have since moved to severely restrict or ban access to abortion.

In yet another coronavirus vaccine-related accident, a&nbsp;West Virginia clinic accidentally injected antibodies to 44 people&nbsp;instead of&nbsp;Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine, the&nbsp;West Virginia National Guard reported.

People were administered with&nbsp;a Regeneron antibody product, instead of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.&nbsp;This incident was soon identified and reported to the higher authorities.&nbsp;

"The moment that we were notified of what happened, we acted right away to correct it, and we immediately reviewed and strengthened our protocols to enhance our distribution process to prevent this from happening again,"&nbsp;said Maj. After the incident was identified, the Boone County Health Department reached out to 42 people who had been wrongfully injected with antibodies and has now given them the option of rescheduling for their shot of the vaccine on Thursday.

The experts have also assured that since the drug was administered as a shot, it will not come up as a hurdle in the process of&nbsp;inoculation of the affected people.

The US state of West Virginia on Tuesday sued a Catholic diocese and a bishop over allegations they knowingly employed paedophiles in schools.

State attorney general Patrick Morrisey announced he had filed suit against the diocese of Wheeling/Charleston -- located over 250 miles (400 kilometers) west of Washington -- and against its former bishop Michael Bransfield.

Bransfield was himself dismissed in September following allegations of sexual harassment against adults. He had been bishop since 2005.

Now, he and the diocese face a consumer protection suit.

"The bishops and diocese knew the diocese employed priests who had been credibly accused of sexually abusing children in schools and camps and intentionally failed to warn the purchasers of educational and recreational services, parents," the suit claims.

According to the complaint, one priest confessed to assaulting a student at a high school in the 1980s, and was laid off before returning to a job at a primary school in the diocese between 1998 and 2001.

Another disclosed while applying for a job in 2002 that he had been accused of assaulting a minor in 1979. Nevertheless, he went on to work at a primary school in the diocese for four years.

Morrisey also accused the diocese of lying on its website, which claimed that school employees were subject to background checks. A man convicted of rape in Washington was hired to teach in a diocese high school, with his contract terminated in 2013, the complaint said.

The American Catholic Church was shaken last year by revelations of sexual abuse by some 300 priests over decades in Pennsylvania.

In October, Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, who was suspected of covering up the scandal.
