Ooty and Coorg are almost a 6-hour drive from each other but you can break it with lunch. The closest airport to Coorg is Kannur, which is almost a four-hour drive away. Iran has initiated its visa-free policy for Indian tourists visiting the West Asian nation, effective from February 4, as per a press release by the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Indian capital of Delhi. Following the approval of the Government of Iran, Indian citizens holding ordinary passports will now be able to enter Iran without a visa once every six months, with a maximum stay of 15 days per visit. The 15 days will not be extended, as per the official statement. Moreover, this visa-free arrangement applies exclusively to individuals entering Iran for tourism purposes.

"If Indian nationals wish to stay for a longer period or make multiple entries within a six-month period or require other types of visas, they must obtain the necessary visas through the respective representations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India," the statement read.&nbsp;

Iran had visa waiver programmes in place for visitors from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Oman, China, Lebanon, and Syria.

This comes as, in a bid to enhance tourism, various countries have recently implemented similar visa waiver policies for Indian citizens. Thailand waived visa requirements for Indian travellers until May 2024. Similarly, Sri Lanka announced visa-free entry for India and six other countries, including China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand, until March 21, 2024.

Japan topped the list with top rank for the fifth consecutive year and India ranked 85th out of 199 countries. Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan were at the lowest rankings in the Henley Passport Index.&nbsp;

The London-based global citizenship and residence advice firm Henley &amp; Partners issues the Henley Passport Index every year and for the year 2023, they have taken the data from International Air Transport Association (IATA) to make the list.&nbsp;

According to Henley Passport Index 2023, Indian passports have access to travel visa-free to 59 countries.&nbsp; 
The index said, "The index includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations, giving users the most extensive and reliable information about their global access and mobility". Each passport is scored on the total number of destinations that the holder can access visa-free, it said.

As per Henley Passport power scores, only 6 per cent of the world's countries gives you access to more than 70 per cent of the global economy. And only 17 per cent of the countries grant you visa-free access to more than four-fifths of the world's 227 destinations.&nbsp;

The Government of Serbia has decided to end visa-free travel for Indians. From January 1, 2023, Indian passport holders will no longer be able to enter Serbia without a visa. The latest decision has been taken by the central European nation keeping in mind the requirements of European Union visa policy.

“The existing arrangement of visa-free entry into Serbia for all Indian passport holders for staying in Serbia up to 30 days has been withdrawn by the Government of Serbia,” said the government in a statement.

Previously, Indian passport holders were able to enter the country without visa. Indians could live visa-free for a period of 30 days in a year. But this facility will be withdrawn in the new year.

The Indian embassy in Serbian capital Belgrade has issued a travel advisory for Indians. The embassy has asked holders of ordinary Indian passports to obtain visa from Serbian Embassy in Belgrade prior to travel to the country after January 1.

Indians who currently hold a valid UK, US or Schengen visa would still be able to enter Serbia visa-free for a period of 90 days.

In addition to Indians, Serbia has terminated visa-free travel facility to citizens of Guinea-Bissau, Tunisia and Burundi. For these countries, however, the facility has been withdrawn from November 20.
