Taiwan, which has since been governed independently, is officially known as the ''Republic of China'' while the mainland is called the ''People's Republic of China". Despite this, however, China considers Taiwan as its part and advocates gaining control over it by any means necessary.&nbsp;

In the 1980s, when China-Taiwan relations showed potential for improvement, China proposed a 'one country, two systems approach. Under which Taiwan will be given autonomy if it accepts reunification with China. However, Taiwan turned down this offer.&nbsp;

In 2000, Chen Shui-bian was elected President of Taiwan who openly supported Taiwan's independence. This thing left China exasperated. Since then relations between Taiwan and China have remained tense.&nbsp;

Overall, Taiwan sees itself as a separate country, while China considers Taiwan as its part. The same fight is still going on between China and Taiwan for their rights, which can also take the form of war in the coming times.&nbsp;

What is the role of the US ?

America is considered Taiwan's most important and only friend. From the Second World War until 1979, the relations between the two countries remained very close. Then in the year 1979, the then US President Jimmy Carter broke his diplomatic relations with Taiwan, taking the initiative to strengthen relations with China.&nbsp;

However, then the US Congress passed the 'Taiwan Relations Act' in response, under which it was decided that America would supply military weapons to Taiwan and if China attacks Taiwan in any way, America will take it very seriously.

The greatest tension between the US and China over Taiwan was seen when China conducted missile tests in 1996 to influence Taiwan's presidential election in its way, in response to which the then US President Bill Clinton launched massive US military power. It was called the largest US military demonstration in Asia since the Vietnam War.

Former U.S President Donald Trump has always been in support of Taiwan and now US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s move to visit Taipei has also shown President Biden's support too. Biden confirmed that the US would come to Taiwan’s defence if China attacked.

What is One-China Policy?

Under China's "One-China Policy", China considers Taiwan as its part. It refers to the United States' policy of strategic ambiguity which accepts that all "Chinese on either side of the Taiwan Strait is only one China and that Taiwan is a part of China."

The policy says that if a country wants to establish diplomatic relations with China(People's Republic of China), then it will have to end its diplomatic relations with Taiwan(Republic of China).

Beijing considers Taiwan its part and will do everything possible for this. Now it has to be seen that like the Russia-Ukraine war, this matter also does not take a terrible form.&nbsp;

"My messages were stark," Guterres told reporters at the&nbsp;UN&nbsp;General Assembly following the meeting.

"On the&nbsp;climate&nbsp;emergency:&nbsp;The 1.5-degrees limit is on life support –- and it is fading fast," he said, referring to the Paris accord goal of limiting long-term warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels.&nbsp;

"You have all seen the appalling images from (flooding in) Pakistan. This is happening at just 1.2 degrees of global warming, and we are headed for over three degrees."&nbsp;

He called on governments to tackle "four burning issues" between now and COP27: greater ambition to keep the 1.5C possible; meeting financial commitments to the developing world; increasing support for adaptation measures, and the issue of "loss&nbsp;and&nbsp;damage".

This last point has become a critical area in&nbsp;climate&nbsp;negotiations. It concerns&nbsp;damage&nbsp;already caused by multiplying extreme weather events, which neither the measures to mitigate global warming nor those to adapt to its impacts have been able to prevent.&nbsp;

Developing nations argue that historic polluters have a moral imperative to pay for the&nbsp;loss&nbsp;and&nbsp;damage, but the idea was shot down by rich nations at COP26, who offered only to start talking about the issue at COP27.

A few days ago, the group of least developed countries meeting in Dakar once more pushed on the issue, calling for the establishment of a "funding mechanism" to deal with the&nbsp;damage&nbsp;caused by global warming.

"I hope COP27 in Egypt will take it up, as a matter of&nbsp;climate&nbsp;justice, international solidarity and building trust," said Guterres.

Adnan's case came to attention in 2014, after Sarah Koeing, an American journalist, started her investigation of the case. However, Sarah never concluded whether Adnan was 'innocent.'

Lee's family faced problems as the case was discussed widely amongst most everyone whether her family liked it or not.

US: Crime podcasts can sometimes change the course of justice

NASA said Wednesday it had successfully trialed the fueling process for its new rocket, after technical issues a few weeks ago halted two attempts to get the behemoth off the ground and headed towards the Moon.

"All of the objectives that we set out to do we were able to accomplish today," said Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, launch director of the program called Artemis 1.

The unmanned mission hopes to test the new 30-story SLS rocket as well as the unmanned Orion capsule that sits atop it, in preparation for future Moon-bound journeys with humans aboard.

The last attempt in early September to launch <a href="https://www.wionews.com/technology/elon-musk-faces-skeptics-as-tesla-gets-ready-to-unveil-optimus-robot-518458">NASA's</a> most powerful rocket yet had to be aborted because of a leak while its cryogenic fuels -- liquid hydrogen and oxygen -- were being pumped into the rocket's tanks.

Repairs were carried out and Wednesday's test involved filling those tanks again.

Though a small hydrogen leak was detected during the test, NASA engineers were able to get it under control.
