Talking about the prospects after the conflict ends, the Ukrainian President said that the country needs a new tax system and new financial regulations to keep the economy going during wartime and to rebuild it after the war.&nbsp;

"The weather is beautiful alas we hardly ever notice it anymore. The skies are clear but not above Kyiv. Not above Kyiv and other cities of our country," Zelensky said at the start of his address as he spoke from the outside presidential palace in Kyiv while referring to the morning bombardment of targets in the capital by the Russian forces.&nbsp;

News agencies have reported quoting authorities that at least one person was killed when a Russian shell smashed into an apartment block in Kyiv on Monday (March 14).&nbsp;

A second person was killed by falling debris after a missile strike on another part of the Ukrainian capital.&nbsp;

Three Russian rockets also hit the Antonov aircraft factory in Kyiv. There were no immediate reports of any deaths at the factory.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Zelensky is set to a virtual address to US Congress on Wednesday (March 16) as the western ally comes under intense shelling from Russia.&nbsp;

House leader Nancy Pelosi and her Senate counterpart Chuck Schumer said in a joint letter to lawmakers said, "We look forward to the privilege of welcoming President Zelensky's address to the House and Senate and to convey our support to the people of Ukraine as they bravely defend democracy."&nbsp;

In the video, he showed a city bus that just got hit by a rocket. "Lives are getting lost. There's the war that Russia started," he said. He also said that just like Kyiv, many other Ukrainian cities were destroyed.&nbsp;

"That's the truth. These images are the truth of Russian war against Ukraine. That's what it looks like," he said.

"Putin's dream of creating a Greater Russia is my country's nightmare," he wrote in the caption.

After laying siege to southern port city Mariupol, Russian forces are reportedly heading towards the capital Kyiv city even as Ukrainian officials have said that they are “ready to fight”.

On early Saturday morning, air raid sirens and shellings were heard over Kyiv and other major Ukrainian cities, local media reported.&nbsp;

President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine had “already reached a strategic turning point”.

“It is impossible to say how many days we still have (ahead of us) to free Ukrainian land. But we can say we will do it,” he said. "We are already moving towards our goal, our victory."

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has announced that around 12,000 US troops have been moved along the borders with Russia such as Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Romania, even as he ruled out sending forces to Ukraine.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry on Monday said that a pregnant woman who was pictured being carried from a Ukrainian maternity hospital after it was bombed by Russian forces has died along with her unborn baby. The heart-wrenching image by The Associated Press shows the woman stroking her lower abdomen which is full of blood.

Last week, Russia bombed a children's hospital in the port city of Mariupol. As per Ukraine, the bombing in the besieged city took place during a supposed ceasefire that was meant to facilitate the escape of hundreds of civilians in the city.

President Volodymr Zelenskiy called it an "atrocity".

The woman in the picture was immediately rushed to another hospital. When she realised that her baby had died, the medics said, she cried out, "Kill me now!"

She has not been named.&nbsp;

The Associated Press spoke to surgeon Timur Marin, who found the woman's pelvis crushed and hip detached. Medics delivered the baby through cesarean section. However, it showed "no signs of life," the surgeon said.

"More than 30 minutes of resuscitation of the mother didn't produce results. Both died," Marin added.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry posted video footage of what appeared to be the badly damaged building of what it said was the children's and maternity hospital.

The footage showed holes where windows should have been in a three-storey building at the hospital, and huge piles of rubble, some of it smouldering.&nbsp;

According to the Russian defence ministry, it had targeted weapons depots which were reportedly supplied by foreign nations. The Russian ministry claimed it had killed "180 foreign mercenaries".

The attack took place at the Yavoriv International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security which is just 25 km from the Polish border. US Secretary of state Anthony Blinken condemned the attack saying the "brutality must stop".

After the attack, President Zelensky warned NATO nations saying that it was "only a matter of time before Russian rockets" would fall on NATO territory while repeating his call for a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
