“If you were preparing for the 2015 World Cup, then you shouldn’t have thought if you’re going to win this CV series or the one after this. It shouldn’t be like this. You began the policy but after four matches, when the results didn’t come, when questions began to be asked, then you start playing all three. That’s why I believe it was a complete waste of time If you play for your country, you should play your best team," the former batter added.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan locked horns with Bangladesh in the last group stage encounter of the ongoing T20I tri-series in New Zealand on Thursday (October 13). With both Pakistan and hosts New Zealand set to lock horns in the summit clash on Friday (October 14), the Men in Green aimed to finish off the group stage on a high and managed to do that with a convincing seven-wicket win over the Bangla Tigers at the&nbsp;Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

During the clash, skipper Babar Azam impressed with a 40-ball 55, laced with nine fours, to play a key role in his side's big win. By virtue of his knock, the right-hander also broke former Indian captain Virat Kohli's record to become the fastest Asian batter to reach the 11,000-run club at the international level. Babar took 251 innings to reach the 11k-run club whereas Kohli achieved the feat in 261 innings.

Rohit Sharma, who is leading the Indian cricket team in the tri-series T20 tournament, was trolled on Twitter after he failed for the second time in the Nidahas Trophy on Friday.

Over the years, Rohit has managed to win the trust of cricket fans on the back of consistent performances in limited-overs cricket.&nbsp;

With his ability to score big hundreds, the 30-year-old has earned a new nickname &ndash; hitman -- and became a darling of the social media since then.

However, after a streak of low scores in the recently concluded T20 series in South Africa, and two back-to-back failures in the ongoing tri-series T20 tournament in Sri Lanka, the Mumbai batsman has come under attack once again on Twitter.

The Twitterati took a jibe at Rohit&rsquo;s recent promotion into Grade A+ category in BCCI&rsquo;s list of centrally contracted players, which entitled him for a payment of Rs 7 crore per year.

While taking a jibe at Rohit for receiving highest salary despite lowest performance, one fan went on to compare Rohit with an office employee who doesn&rsquo;t perform after a pay hike.

Kohli missed Saturday&#39;s final Twenty20 against South Africa in Cape Town with a stiff back as India won the three-match series 2-1 which followed their 5-1 triumph in the one-dayers against the Proteas.

Rohit led India during the final T20I against South Africa in Cape Town which his side won, and also captained India in the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka in December, both of which India won.

India have a long season ahead starting with the IPL before the team embarks on a long sojourn of England followed by a tour Down Under in December.

Former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also rested, which allowed Delhi`s Rishabh Pant to join the squad as the second wicketkeeper, along with Dinesh Karthik.

The selectors also decided to leave out the pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah and named a largely young 15-member squad for the Nidahas Trophy, which also features Bangladesh, beginning on March 6 in Colombo.

&quot;We`ve kept in mind the workload and upcoming schedule while finalising the team for Nidahas Trophy,&quot; selection committee chairman MSK Prasad said in a statement.

Earlier, Hashim Amla scored 110 off 99 balls to notch his 23rd career ODI century, sharing an opening partnership of 182 with Quinton de Kock (71) to set the visitors on their way to a formidable 343-4.
