Fans of the Chelsea Football Club have started showing more and more dissent towards Todd Bohely - the American owner of the London-based club. In a letter to Bohely, the&nbsp;Chelsea Supporters Trust (CST) said the club had become a "laughing stock on and off the pitch" since being bought by him and Clearlake Capital in 2022.&nbsp;

The supporters have already warned that a&nbsp;slide towards “irreversible toxicity” in the stands is likely to end in protests against the ownership.&nbsp;

“The current feeling amongst Chelsea supporters in our opinion is at its lowest since the early 1980s,” the CST said.

The low confidence of the supporters was evident during the recent FA Cup match against Leicester City in which forward Raheem Sterling was booed after struggling massively in the game.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, manager Mauricio Pochettino and Boehly were booed and abused heavily during the 2-2 draw at Brentford earlier this month.

“The views of a quiet few became a vocal expression of a larger number of Chelsea supporters present at the [Brentford] game. Much of our recent dialogue with supporters reveals a lack of belief in the decision-makers at the top of our club," the letter added.&nbsp;

"The current mood amongst supporters is critically low and cannot be ignored. The feeling that the club has become a ‘­laughing stock’, both on and off the pitch, is growing."

Chelsea have spent more than $1 billion in player transfer fees since the new ownership led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover of the club in May 2022.

"We'd be under scrutiny like you couldn't imagine," Guardiola told reporters on Friday. "I couldn't sit here if we spent what Chelsea spent in the last two transfer windows - you would kill me.

"We have to see what happens in the market and if we can do it and to pay what we believe is fair... In the end, we will pay what is fair to do it. Otherwise, we have the academy."

Chelsea have brought in eight players so far. Midfielder Romeo Lavia arrived on Friday for a reported fee of 53 million pounds, their second signing of the week after Moises Caicedo joined for a fee which could rise to a British record 115 million pounds.
