Meet Claude 2: ChatGPT's rival introduces novel-summarising chatbot

Dunzo, a hyperlocal quick commerce company grappling with financial difficulties, implemented a salary cap of US$914&nbsp;for employees in June, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Moneycontrol.&nbsp;

This meant that regardless of their actual salary package, no one would receive more than the fixed amount. The move aimed to ensure that employees earning less than the capped amount would receive their salaries in full.

However, earlier this week, it was reported that Dunzo had deferred June salaries for approximately 500 employees, representing around 50 per cent of its workforce. Co-founder and CEO Kabeer Biswas and the top management assured employees that the salary caps were only applicable for June and that all dues would be cleared by July 20.

Senior employees at Dunzo were reportedly most affected by the salary deferrals. Approximately 60-65 per cent of the workforce received their full salaries, while 35-40 per cent received only a partial payment of US$914&nbsp;for June.

With the aim of leveraging AI to tackle issues like climate change, hunger, and social care, these advanced humanoid robots attended the UN's AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, alongside thousands of experts in the field.

When asked about their potential as leaders, given humans' inclination for errors and mis-judgments, Sophia, developed by Hanson Robotics, expressed a clear perspective.

It stated that humanoid robots possess the capacity to lead with greater efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders. Their unbiased decision-making and ability to process vast amounts of data quickly enable them to make optimal choices, unencumbered by emotions or biases.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a prominent Indian IT services company, has announced a major partnership with the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), the largest workplace pension scheme in the UK. Valued at £840 million ($1 billion), the agreement cited by Moneycontrol allows TCS to digitally transform Nest's administration services for improved user experience.

The partnership between TCS and Nest follows the cancellation of Nest's previous contract with Atos, a French IT services firm. This unexpected turn of events, occurring just two years into a potential 18-year tenure, may lead to as many as 1,000 jobs being lost at&nbsp;Atos&nbsp;in both the UK and India. As a result, Nest sought a new strategic partner to ensure the seamless continuation of its services, ultimately selecting TCS as the ideal candidate.

TCS's UK Love Affair

This £840 million agreement is the fourth significant deal TCS has secured in the UK in 2023 alone. Previous achievements include a £723-million contract with insurer Phoenix Group, a partnership with retail giant Marks &amp; Spencer, and a 10-year agreement with the Teacher's Pension Scheme in England &amp; Wales. Despite the challenging macro environment in the region, TCS has emerged as a frontrunner, solidifying its position as the leading provider of software and IT services in the UK.

Since its launch in 2011, Nest and TCS have enjoyed a close working relationship. Nest, a digital auto-enrolment pension scheme, currently boasts over 12 million members and aims to manage approximately £100 billion in assets by the end of the next decade. TCS's extended partnership with Nest will see the deployment of TCS BaNCS solutions, allowing members and employers to access timely and relevant information through personalized and self-directed channels.

“We have a strong foundation after many years of working together and they’ve proven their ability to deliver successfully for a scheme the size and complexity of Nest," Moneycontrol quoted Gavin Perera-Betts, Chief Customer Officer at Nest, as saying&nbsp;

TCS: A Global IT Heavyweight

With a workforce spanning 30 locations across the UK, TCS has positioned itself as a powerhouse in the industry. The company's success in securing five large deals, including the Nest partnership, in the first half of 2023 demonstrates its commitment to growth and innovation.

In addition to their achievements in the UK, TCS recently received an advanced purchase order of Rs 15,000 crore ($1.8 billion) from the government-run telco BSNL in India. Valued at £840 million ($1 billion), the agreement cited by Moneycontrol allows TCS to digitally transform Nest's administration services for improved user experience. The partnership between TCS and Nest follows the cancellation of Nest's previous contract with Atos, a French IT services firm. This unexpected turn of events, occurring just two years into a potential 18-year tenure, may lead to as many as 1,000 jobs being lost at Atos in both the UK and India. As a result, Nest sought a new strategic partner to ensure the seamless continuation of its services, ultimately selecting TCS as the ideal candidate. TCS's UK Love Affair This £840 million agreement is the fourth significant deal TCS has secured in the UK in 2023 alone. Previous achievements include a £723-million contract with insurer Phoenix Group, a partnership with retail giant Marks & Spencer, and a 10-year agreement with the Teacher's Pension Scheme in England & Wales. Despite the challenging macro environment in the region, TCS has emerged as a frontrunner, solidifying its position as the leading provider of software and IT services in the UK. Since its launch in 2011, Nest and TCS have enjoyed a close working relationship. Nest, a digital auto-enrolment pension scheme, currently boasts over 12 million members and aims to manage approximately £100 billion in assets by the end of the next decade. TCS's extended partnership with Nest will see the deployment of TCS BaNCS solutions, allowing members and employers to access timely and relevant information through personalized and self-directed channels. “We have a strong foundation after many years of working together and they’ve proven their ability to deliver successfully for a scheme the size and complexity of Nest," Moneycontrol quoted Gavin Perera-Betts, Chief Customer Officer at Nest, as saying TCS: A Global IT Heavyweight With a workforce spanning 30 locations across the UK, TCS has positioned itself as a powerhouse in the industry. The company's success in securing five large deals, including the Nest partnership, in the first half of 2023 demonstrates its commitment to growth and innovation. In addition to their achievements in the UK, TCS recently received an advanced purchase order of Rs 15,000 crore ($1.8 billion) from the government-run telco BSNL in India. Reports suggest that Google is having a tough time bringing its employees back to the office despite operating in a hybrid model, that is, work-from-office thrice a week. As per CNBC reports, Google now plans to track employees' attendance and movement within the office, which might be factored in during performance reviews. As expected, the move is not going well with staffers. A few employees even told the publication that the company is treating staffers like "schoolchildren." An internal document obtained by CNBC draws attention to the attendance-tracking measure instated to help managers track "who hasn't been in the office frequently enough". Additionally, Google employees who previously received approval for remote operations will now have that status reevaluated. The CNBC report cites a Google spokesperson who noted the badge data collected is aggregated for company leaders. The spokesperson adds, "Now that we've fully transitioned to the hybrid work week, company leaders can see reports showing how their teams are adopting the hybrid work model." Google clarified that the company does not share or include individual badge data in its internal reports. The spokesperson also said the company was "limiting remote work to exception only." The report suggests that Google wants to make optimum use of its expansive offices, at least the ones in the US. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Google was known for its various on-campus perks for employees, including massages, yoga classes, and laundry services. However, several employee benefits were scrapped to cut down expenses amid macroeconomic tribulations Many Google workers also want to continue working remotely owing to the cost involved in relocation. Chris Schmidt, a Software engineer at Google and a member of the Alphabet Workers Union-CWA, questions Google's strict hybrid work policy as there are not enough desks for workers. Schmidt told CNBC, "New York City workers do not even have enough desks and conference rooms for workers to use comfortably." The report points out that Google’s process of providing lockers to let employees store personal items overnight is underway. Google suggests that its hybrid work has been in place for a year, and changes are bound to happen.
