<p>Former England wicket-keeper batter Sarah Taylor has become the first woman coach in men's professional franchise cricket after she was named assistant coach of Team Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi T10 league beginning November 19.</p>

<p>Widely regarded as one of the best ever wicket-keepers, Taylor became the first woman specialist coach at a men's county side with Sussex in the United Kingdom.</p>

<p>She now builds on that by again treading a new path with Team Abu Dhabi, and Taylor hopes that her involvement with the T10 league will inspire women all over the world.</p>

<p>"Coming into this franchise world, you get players and coaches coming in from all around the world where it may not necessarily be the norm," said Taylor.</p>

<p>"But I'd love to think that some young girl or some woman watching can see me in the coaching team and realise that's an opportunity and they can push for it, saying ?If she can do it, why can't I?"</p>

<p>After making her debut in 2006, the 32-year-old Taylor played in 10 Tests, 126 ODIs and 90 T20Is before announcing her international retirement in 2019. She returned to professional cricket this summer to feature in The Hundred and the 2021 Women's Twenty20 Cup in the U.K.</p>

<p>I've never had issues in male environments and I enjoy the challenge. You always want to prove that you're good enough, but that's the same for any coach going into a new environment.</p>

<p>Taylor, who won two ICC Women's World Cups, the ICC Women's T20 World Cup and represented England 226 times over the course of a stellar playing career, will serve as assistant to head coach Paul Farbrace.</p>

<p>Team Abu Dhabi has secured the services of former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener, who is currently head coach of the Afghanistan team playing at the T20 World Cup.</p>

<p>As well as continuing to work with Sussex, Taylor also coaches at Bede's School in the same county.</p>

<p>While she remains open to more playing opportunities, Taylor turned down a playing gig this winter in order to work with Team Abu Dhabi and she is looking forward to being able to pick the brains of the likes of Farbrace and Klusener.</p>

<p>It came completely out of the blue and it was an amazing surprise. I've been counting down the days until I can get to Abu Dhabi and get going.</p>

<p>David Weise has shown confidence in the players and his team. He stated, "It could be difficult coming into a team, just for two weeks and having to gel, but fortunate for us everybody in the team is good guys, we all get on well."</p>

<p>“T20 game has evolved from a hitting game to a strategical game,” said Yusuf Pathan during virtual media conference.</p>

<p>When asked about the differences between T20 and T10 game, Pathan stated, “It’s the same game played with bat and ball. Only the number of overs and time will be lessened. Earlier the shortest format was T20, now it’s T10. At end of the day, it’s just cricket.”</p>

<p>On being questioned about the way to go in T10s, the former Indian all-rounder said, “The faster you adapt the strategy for game and wicket, the more successful you ought to become. This game is about which player can handle the pressure and who adapts faster according it.”</p>

<p>“One can’t just go out there and hit boundaries just because it’s a T10 game. There are 60 balls and you need to go with strategy”, he added.</p>

<p>If he is looking to bat at a particular batting position during the Abu Dhabi T10, Pathan revealed in this aspect, "I have played at a number of batting positions during my career and I have always adapted to the team`s needs. The T10 format suits my game. However, my batting position will depend on the team`s strategies. I have always been open to batting at any position for the team."</p>

<p>West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who has scored over 10,000 runs in the T20 format, has expressed that the T10 format suits his style of cricket.<br />

"The thrill and excitement of T10 is limitless. But it`s actually not too dissimilar to the kind of cricket I grew up playing. It`s not about see ball hit ball. You need to be able to think on your feet, anticipate and execute plans without pausing too much. It suits me to be honest and my experience stands me in good stead when reading the opposition," Pollard said ahead of the Abu Dhabi T10 beginning January 28 where he will be leading Deccan Gladiators.<br />

The 33-year-old said that he is very excited to play with the likes of Sunil Narine and Imran Tahir in the upcoming season of the T10 tournament.<br />

"I`m most excited about playing with the group that we have assembled at Deccan Gladiators. I can`t wait to go out there with match-winners like Narine, Tahir, Shahzad, Ingram, local UAE star Zahoor and others. We also have a few surprises up our sleeves for our opponents," he said.<br />

Gladiators team owner Gaurav Grover said his side has enough firepower to win the competition.<br />

"The target of Deccan Gladiators this time would definitely be to win the trophy. With the changes in the helm this year, there are high expectations from the Gladiators.
