<p>As the film ‘Super 30’ hit the theatres today, Anand Kumar, the mathematician on whom the biopic is based opened up on his journey and why he wanted to see the film made before it was too late.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anand revealed in an interview that he is not very healthy and in fact, has no idea of life and death. He said, “The film writers wanted that I permit for the film as quickly as possible. You have no idea of life and death, so I wanted this biopic to be made while I am alive.”</p>

<p>He explained, “In 2014, my situation was such that I was unable to hear from my right ear. I underwent a lot of treatments in Patna and it was after some tests that I came to know that 80-90 per cent of the hearing ability of my right ear has been destroyed.”</p>

<p>“Then I checked into Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi and the doctors performed rigorous investigation and did a number of tests. They then called me and told that I had no issues in my ear instead a tumour had been developed in the nerve which runs from ear to the brain. And as soon as I got to know this, I lost consciousness. Currently, I am on medication prescribed by famous neurosurgeon Dr BK Mishra at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai,” he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking on Hrithik being cast as him, Anand said that no one apart from him could have done justice as he showed sheer dedication and hard work towards the character. He added, “I made sure that till the time I am alive, my journey should be narrated in a right manner. So for that, I read the script 13 times so that nothing goes wrong.”</p>

<p>“Hrithik sir is a great star and I used to communicate with him daily. I remember he made a 150 hours video about my daily life including how I interact with people in Patna, going out with my children and all, and he thoroughly tried to practice my style by watching it.”</p>

<p>“We used to sit together and go through the script. He used to ask questions about my life, circumstances I faced and what not for better understanding of the character. Once I remember that he was so engrossed in listening to my story that when he came downstairs from his apartment to drop me, he forgot to wear his slippers. So this just defines how serious and passionate a person is towards his craft,” he added.</p>

As far as language is concerned, we are not talking in Bhojpuri but in Magahi language. Hrithik did work a lot on getting his look and language right. <p>Anand said his aim was to show his true story on screen and the film's team made sure it happened. "I wanted the film to be accurate and as authentic as possible and I am glad the entire team has made sure the story remains true."</p>

<p>The film suffered a delay after director Vikas was accused of sexual harassment. Following the allegations, the producers dropped his credit as a director from the film. It was only after Vikas was given a clean chit, co-producer Reliance Entertainment reinstated him as the director.</p>

<p>"I had met Vikas several times before the controversy happened. I was shocked as he came across as a very helpful person, rather he had helped a lot of people in our village. All I know is he is a good filmmaker and has worked with utmost honesty on this film," Anand said.</p>

<p>He is hopeful the audience will like the film and will be inspired. He believes education is for all as it has the power to build people's lives and career. Kumar said he is grateful for all the love and respect he has got from people for his 'Super 30' programme.</p>

<p>But as per media reports, he has been caught up in controversy for showing inflated success rate, is accused of misleading IIT aspirants and former students claim he takes cut from other coaching centres. Commenting on the same, Anand said, "There are people who are talking negatively about me. When there was no film being made on my life there was no negativity but now there is. I do not take any grant or donation from anyone. Our Prime Minister, corporators, business tycoons like Mukesh Ambani or Anand Mahindra have offered donation but I haven't accepted anything. I meet everyone but I do not take money from anyone. I only want to do good work in the field of education."</p>
