After Grammys postponed their ceremony to March due to surge in cases in Los Angeles, the Sundance Film Festival has decided to cancel its planned drive-in screenings. The film festival will now have online screenings instead due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles. The festival is set to take place from January 28 to February 3 in Park City Utah while the drive-ins were planned across California. Health Officials advised the organisers to cancel the screenings due to surge in cases especially in southern California.&nbsp; 
 
"The safety and well-being of our audiences, community and staff is the most important thing to Sundance Institute and Sundance Film Festival," organizers said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.&nbsp; 
 
"In consideration of the overall public health situation in the Los Angeles area and the trajectory of the spread of the virus there, the health guidelines, and crisis the hospital systems are facing we will be pivoting our planned drive-in screenings to our online platform." 
The outlet also obtained a letter from Sundance sent to filmmakers in which the new coronavirus strain and capacity of hospitals are also mentioned as reasons for the change. 
 
The festival will charge ahead in other states, however, where they are allowed to take place in indie theatres. 
 
Seventy-two feature-length films and several short films will be shown in the seven-day event on a digital platform.

Talking about the film`s addition in the line-up, Ajitpal said, "It`s been a difficult year for all of us and I am so glad that it`s ending on a positive note with hopes of vaccine for everyone and on a personal note, I am super thrilled that my first feature `Fire In The Mountains` is making its World Premiere at the prestigious Sundance in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition."

On the inspiration behind the film, Ajitpal shared, "The idea of `Fire In The Mountains` came from a personal tragedy, when my cousin sister Amarjeet Kaur died because her husband didn`t take her to the hospital thinking she was possessed by a ghost. The film is about the clash of two worldviews- traditional and modern, with a strong woman at the heart of it and I hope my film will make people ask some relevant questions about their blind faiths."

Online screenings and socially-distanced premieres at venues from California to New York "gives us the opportunity to reach new audiences, safely, where they are," she added.

A theatre in the festival's traditional Park City, Utah home, along with two drive-ins in the Los Angeles area, are scheduled to host physical events featuring artists, while online premieres will be followed by live virtual Q&amp;As.

This year, major summer and fall festivals -- with the exception of Venice -- scrapped most of their physical events, or in the case of Cannes and Telluride were cancelled entirely.&nbsp;

Shah, 46, is portraying police officer Vartika Chaturvedi in the series, which will also feature actors Adil Hussain, Denzil Smith, Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang and Yashaswini Dayama. 
 
Over six years of research went into the making of the series, which was shot on location in New Delhi.&nbsp; 
 
Mehta, best known for directing films such as 'Amal' (2007), 'I'll Follow You Down' (2013) and 'Siddharth' (2014), got the idea for the show during a conversation with Neeraj Kumar, a former Commissioner of the Delhi Police.

Meanwhile, the Jackson estate has issued a statement slamming the movie. “Leaving Neverland isn’t a documentary, it is the kind of tabloid character assassination Michael Jackson endured in life, and now in death. The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact,” the estate said in a statement.

The estate also called Robson and Safechuck “admitted liars” who “provided no independent evidence and absolutely no proof in support of their accusations, which means the entire film hinges solely on the word of two perjurers.”

They claim that the motive behind participating in a documentary “has always been about money – millions of dollars – dating back to 2013 when both Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who share the same law firm, launched their unsuccessful claims against Michael’s Estate.”

The documentary focuses on sexual abuse allegations against the late pop legend Michael Jackson, Variety reported.

Produced and directed by Dan Reed, the film describes how Jackson allegedly began relationships with two boys, aged 7 and 10. The two, now in their 30s, claim they were sexually abused by Jackson and reveal how they have come to terms with it years later.

In response to the announcement, representatives for the Jackson estate issues a statement, "This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson."

The 'Neverland' in the film refers to the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County Calif., where the pop legend lived between 1988 and 2003 and was raided by law enforcement officers in 2003 in connection with molestation accusations against Jackson by a 13-year-old boy.

Jackson was acquitted by jurors of all 14 criminal counts against him in state court in 2005.

Former US president Barack Obama's eldest daughter Malia Obama joined the protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline in Utah on Monday. Police have used aggressive tactics against protesters including water cannons in sub-zero temperatures, rubber bullets and attack dogs. But Malia has a White House security detail. Malia flew down from the family holiday at Palm Springs to attend screenings at the festival. It was not clear if she was there as part of her internship with Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. "Divergent" actress Shailene Woodley told Democracy Now, “It was amazing to see Malia. I saw her last night when we did the event with [Standing Rock] chairman Dave Archambault. And it was incredible to see her there.” “To witness a human being and a woman coming into her own outside of her family and outside of the attachments that this country has on her, but someone who’s willing to participate in democracy because she chooses to, because she recognises, regardless of her last name, that if she doesn’t participate in democracy, there will be no world for her future children," she added. After large-scale protests, Obama had decreed that the construction of the pipeline will be stopped. However, Trump reversed the order after taking office. While the amount of stock in Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners is modest compared to the rest of his portfolio, estimated at between $15,000 and $50,000, he also owns between $100,000 and $250,000 in Phillips 66, which has a one-quarter share of Dakota Access, CBS reports.
