In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin said he took "extreme caution" when he was filming the particular scene with Margolyes.&nbsp;<br />

"When I first read Miriam Margolyes pejorative account of our scene in Little Shop of Horrors, I was surprised. My memory is that we had a good communication as professional actors," Martin’s statement read. "But when it is implied that I harmed her or was in some way careless about doing the stunts, I have to object. I remember taking EXTREME caution regarding the fake punch — the same caution I would use with any similar scene."<br />

Further, Martin recalled that he even asked Miriam and made sure that she was fine. "There was never any physical contact between her and me, accidental or otherwise, in this scene or any other we shot," he said.&nbsp;<br />

Defending Martin, director OZ said that he&nbsp;had ''always been professional and respectful of everyone on all of my shoots.''<br />

"I always rehearse physical actions in slow motion," Oz said in his own statement. "The scene was supposed to include a fake punch. It’s puzzling what she’s talking about. It’s not the Steve I know or anyone knows,'' the director said.</p>

Rebutting Miriam Margolyes’ ''horrid'' claims that the actress has made in her new memoir, Oh Miriam: Stories From An Extraordinary Life, veteran actor Steve Martin is putting his side forward! In Frank Oz's film, Martin played the role of a dentist Orin Scrivello D.D.S, while Miriam was his assistant. In her book, Miriam called her co-star ''unlovely'' as she went on to reveal that she was repeatedly ''punched and slapped'' while filming a scene when Martin's character hits her assistant. Mirriam wrote in her book, via The Independent: "I was hit all day by doors opening in my face; repeatedly punched, slapped and knocked down by an unlovely and unapologetic Steve Martin – perhaps he was method acting – and came home grumpy with a splitting headache.'' My memory is that we had a good communication as professional actors," Martin’s statement read. "But when it is implied that I harmed her or was in some way careless about doing the stunts, I have to object. I remember taking EXTREME caution regarding the fake punch — the same caution I would use with any similar scene." Further, Martin recalled that he even asked Miriam and made sure that she was fine. "There was never any physical contact between her and me, accidental or otherwise, in this scene or any other we shot," he said. Defending Martin, director OZ said that he had ''always been professional and respectful of everyone on all of my shoots.'' "I always rehearse physical actions in slow motion," Oz said in his own statement. "The scene was supposed to include a fake punch. It’s puzzling what she’s talking about. <p>For the latest episode of&nbsp;NBC comedy series Saturday Night Live’s 47th season, American singer and actor Selena Gomez took over the hosting duties and entertained her viewers with the help of her 'Only Murders in the Building' co-star Steve Martin and singer Post Malone. Before Selena, Billie Eilish, Kim Kardashian, and Rami Malek among others said yes to the challenging role.</p>

<p>May 14 episode marked Selena’s debut in SNL and it certainly had many noteworthy moments. In her monologue, the pop star shared that she is currently single and looking for her soulmate. Calling SNL “a great place to find romance,” she spoke about Emma Stone,&nbsp;Scarlett Johansson, Colin Jost, Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly. Her Miley Cyrus impression also filled the room with giggles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Since I don’t really want to try the dating apps I just want to put it out in the universe that I’m manifesting love and I would like to say that I’m looking for my soulmate. But at this point I will take anyone,” Selena said in her monologue.</p>

<p>In another segment, Selena played one of the understudies who couldn’t remember her lines and had a weird accent every time she spoke.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Post Malone, meanwhile, was the musical guest of the night. He also performed two skits with Selena. He performed his latest track Cooped Up from his upcoming album Twelve Carat Toothache along with his other tracks and proceeded to stun everyone with his satirical picks.</p>

<p>In one of the skits with Post Malone,&nbsp;Selena played&nbsp;the role of a jealous girlfriend, who suspected&nbsp;him of having another affair. As Malone leaves to get some paper towels, former Disney darling is visited by her intuition (played by Ego Nwodim) who tells her that her better half is out there cheating on her. The whole skit took fans on a fun ride and many got laughter attacks.</p>

As per People magazine, the 28-year-old star opened up about her lengthy career on both TV and in music for Vogue`s April cover story and revealed that she wants to lean into acting and producing more so than music in the future.</p>

<p>"It`s hard to keep doing music when people don`t necessarily take you seriously," she told the magazine candidly.<br />

She added, "I`ve had moments where I`ve been like, `What`s the point? Why do I keep doing this?` `Lose You to Love Me` I felt was the best song I`ve ever released, and for some people, it still wasn`t enough."The hitmaker said she wants to "give it one last try" before maybe retiring from music.<br />

"I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I`m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it`ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music," she said.<br />

The parts that I want are the ones I need help with. I can`t wait for the moment when a director can see that I`m capable of doing something that no one`s ever seen."<br />
