While making contact with biological half-siblings is viewed positively, but when their numbers grew, it "felt unmanageable to have contact and relationships with a growing and indeterminate number of people,” said Prof Lucy Frith of the University of Manchester.

“Once you’ve frozen sperm it doesn’t get any older,” said Prof Jackson Kirkman-Brown, chair of the Association for Reproductive and Clinical Scientists.

This means donor sperm can be used over years or decades.&nbsp;“You can end up with donor siblings older than your parents,” Kirkman-Brown said, giving a hypothetical scenario.

Donations are "presented to donors as a beautiful gift to help someone create a family, not as, ‘We’re going to maximise the number of births from your gametes and make as much money as we can from that,’” said Prof Nicky Hudson, a medical sociologist at De Montford University.&nbsp;

<h2>Who is in control of sperm donation rules in the UK?</h2>

The rules in Britain regarding sperm and egg donations are controlled by Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). “As the HFEA has no remit over donation outside of HFEA licensed clinics, there would be no monitoring of how many times a donor is used in these circumstances,” Rachel Cutting, director of compliance and information at the HFEA, was quoted as saying in the Guardian report.

A recent study has indicated that sperm count in men worldwide is declining due to increasing exposure to pesticides that are used in homes, gardens and sprayed on foods.

The study, published Wednesday (Nov 15) in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, examined 25 studies around the world on the two chemicals and included 20 studies in the meta-analysis.

“Over the course of 50 years, sperm concentration has fallen about 50 per cent around the world,” said senior study author Melissa Perry, dean of the College of Public Health at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

She pointed out that the fall was linked to two common insecticides used around the world: Organophosphates and N-methyl carbamates.

Organophosphates are the main components of nerve gas, herbicides, pesticides and insecticides and are also used to create plastics and solvents.

Air pollution reduces sperm counts through brain inflammation: Research

A report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has stated that the sperm count and quality don't decrease in healthy young men after taking the first or second dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The study examined sperm samples from 45 males aged 25 to 31 who had been pre-screened to ensure they didn't have any reproductive difficulties.

Samples were obtained before the first dose of an mRNA vaccine and again 70 days afterwards.

The volume, concentration, motility, and total sperm count of the sperm were then measured in the sperm.&nbsp;

There were no significant decreases in any sperm parameter among this group of healthy men.

"We found no changes in sperm parameters in the young healthy men that we studied who received both doses of mRNA vaccine," said study author Dr Ranjith Ramasamy, director of male reproductive medicine and surgery at the University of Miami Health System.

Despite the vaccine's great efficacy and low side effects in clinical studies, just 56% of people in the United States said they wanted it.

The risk for vaccination-induced infertility is one of the grounds for vaccine hesitancy.&nbsp;

However, some experts believe&nbsp;that additional larger studies with men of different ages are needed to affirm the study's results.

A report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has stated that the sperm count and quality don't decrease in healthy young men after taking the first or second dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine. The study examined sperm samples from 45 males aged 25 to 31 who had been pre-screened to ensure they didn't have any reproductive difficulties. Samples were obtained before the first dose of an mRNA vaccine and again 70 days afterwards. The volume, concentration, motility, and total sperm count of the sperm were then measured in the sperm. There were no significant decreases in any sperm parameter among this group of healthy men. "We found no changes in sperm parameters in the young healthy men that we studied who received both doses of mRNA vaccine," said study author Dr Ranjith Ramasamy, director of male reproductive medicine and surgery at the University of Miami Health System. Despite the vaccine's great efficacy and low side effects in clinical studies, just 56% of people in the United States said they wanted it. The risk for vaccination-induced infertility is one of the grounds for vaccine hesitancy. However, some experts believe that additional larger studies with men of different ages are needed to affirm the study's results.
