One of the greatest mystery writers of all time, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s manuscript is all set to go up for sale and it could fetch up to a whopping $1.2 million at the auction.&nbsp;

The Sign of Four, Conan Doyle’s second book featuring Sherlock Holmes is now being auctioned by Sotheby’s New York, along with other literature. The manuscript features the raw first look of the book in Conan Doyle’s handwriting. As per Sotheby’s official statement, this is the most valuable Conan Doyle item ever offered at an auction.

Another major literary treasure up for sale at the auction is Conan Doyle’s letters recounting his dinner with Oscar Wilde. In 1889, the two contemporaries sat down for a dinner at the Langham Hotel in London and everything changed.

It is said that soon after this meeting, Wilde went on to write his philosophical novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Conan Doyle agreed to write The Sign of Four.&nbsp;

The auction will be held in New York on June 26 as a live sale.&nbsp;

<h2>That one ‘golden evening’ of 1889</h2>

On 30 August 1889, Joseph Marshall Stoddart, the managing editor of the American publication Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine met two of the greatest writers of the 1890s, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde. The two were invited over a dinner at Langham Hotel in London.

Stoddart was eager to produce the English version of Lippincott’s with a British editor and British contributors. It was this fateful dinner meeting that led to the release of two of the greatest stories by Wilde and Conan Doyle.&nbsp;

In his 1924 autobiography, Memories and Adventures, Conan Doyle called the dinner meeting with Stoddart a “golden evening”, as Stoddart showed interest in commissioning his second novel.&nbsp;

Soon, the novel The Sign of Four made its first appearance in the February 1890 edition of Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine. This was the second novel featuring Sherlock Holmes after the first novel The Study in Scarlet.&nbsp;

The manuscript up for sale is in an immaculate state, with only a few edits by Stoddart to Americanise the spellings and some tweaks here and there by Conan Doyle, told Selby Kiffer to CNN. Kifer is the auction house’s international senior specialist for books and manuscripts.

Almost all of Conan Doyle’s surviving manuscripts are residing in museums with similar little edits.

The manuscript is just one fraction of a collection that was assembled by Dr. Rodney P. Swantko, a Chicago-based collector, who died two years ago.

Other lots include four novels by F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of which is a copy of “The Great Gatsby” he signed from Scott and Zelda, on behalf of his wife, which is expected to fetch up to $250,000.

Sherlock Holmes is a grand affair to start with. The pipe-smoking, mystery-solving, incredibly gifted detective has always been at the center in any movie/ series that features him.

And when another character manages to carry an entire movie on her able shoulders even when he is around, it is quite a feat.

Millie Bobby Brown does just that. Throughout Enola Holmes, she captures your attention and becomes an object of great affection from the very start.

Enola Holmes is Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes' sister. The feisty and as Mycroft Holmes describes, "unbroken" Enola Holmes is not the one to demurely learn embroidery and be ladylike as it was expected of women in older times in England. She fights, she deduces, she gets on top of things and gets them done. But the charm is unmissable. In attitude, she is much like Olenna Tyrrell from Game of Thrones.

Enola has a special bond with her mom (Helena Boham-Carter) who she credits for caring for her and for making her into a tough cooky she is. One fine morning, Enola's mom disappears and her world comes crashing down. Enola's search for her mother forms the basic theme of the movie and there's much more.

Unlike any other female leads in movies, Millie Bobby Brown does not become an object of desire. The movie steers clear of this beaten path maybe, in part, because of Brown's young age (She is 16) but definitely because the movie has a story to tell.

Brown does a fine job. It's hard to dominate a movie and frames when someone like Henry Cavill himself is playing Sherlock Holmes. But Brown does it. Enola Holmes has everything a Sherlock Holmes universe has had including aristocrats, killers, surprises, plot twists, but the focus is on Enola.

Yes, we do get glimpses of Sherlock's genius. The inept Scotland Yard Inspector Lestrade is there as well. For those who have read Sherlock Holmes stories, it's fun to spot nuances only they would get.

It's a delight to observe Henry Cavill get into the shoes of the detective, a role played by greats such as Jeremy Brett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr to name a few. In Enola Holmes, he takes a backseat but remains a commanding presence in control of things he does. He is outwitted by Enola eventually but doesn't mind losing to his sister.

Sweet execution of it all is what makes Enola Holmes a charming watch. The beauty of each frame brings out the dusty streets of 19th century London as it does the grandeur of aristocratic mansions and English countryside.

Louis Partridge adds a dash of interest to the mix as Lord Viscount Tewkesbury of Meriwether (Enola prefers 'Nincompoop'). The adorable teenage infatuation is unmissable but even here the movie doesn't go all-American way and plays it very very subtly.

Enola Holmes may not get considered the greatest movie featuring Sherlock Holmes. But it doesn't attempt to be in the first place. It surely comes as a sweet surprise and a pleasant watch.

Clocking in at two-minute and 43-second, the trailer shows the free-spirited childhood Enola had but suddenly finds herself under the care of her brothers Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin).

The protective brothers insist her to carry forward her schooling, so as to help her to become a fine young lady. However, Enola refuses to follow their wishes and escapes from their hooks to search for her mother in London and subsequently becomes a super-sleuth in her own right.

The threequel will see the return of actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as they reprise their roles.&nbsp;

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are partnering on the film, which is set to once again feature Downey as the iconic British detective, while Law will play his famous sidekick, Dr Watson.

The threequel will hit the theaters 10 years after the first sequel, ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ as it debuted in December 2011. The film went on to earn $545.4 million at the worldwide box office.&nbsp;

The film that was earlier scheduled for Christmas 2020 release will now come out on Christmas 2021, as announced by the Warner Bros. on Monday. The threequel will see the return of actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as they reprise their roles. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are partnering on the film, which is set to once again feature Downey as the iconic British detective, while Law will play his famous sidekick, Dr Watson. The threequel will hit the theaters 10 years after the first sequel, ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ as it debuted in December 2011. The film went on to earn $545.4 million at the worldwide box office.

"We have developed an algorithm that uses references between movies as a measure for success, and which can also be used to evaluate the career of directors, actors and actresses, by considering their participation in top-scoring movies," Bioglio said. 
 
Applying the algorithm to directors, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick ranked third, fifth and sixth respectively. 
 
When the researchers used another approach to remove the bias of older movies --which, because they were produced earlier, can potentially influence a greater number of subsequent films -- Hitchcock, Spielberg and Brian De Palma occupied the top spots instead. 
 
When applied to actors, the algorithm ranked Samuel L Jackson, Clint Eastwood and Tom Cruise as the top three. 
 
The researchers noticed a strong gender bias towards male actors; the only female in the top ten was Lois Maxwell, who played the recurring role of Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise. 
 
"The scores of top-ranked actresses tend to be lower compared to their male colleagues," Bioglio said. 
 
"The only exceptions were musical movies, where results show moderate gender equality, and movies produced in Sweden, where actresses ranked better compared to actors," Bioglio said. 
 
To calculate the influence score for the 47,000 films investigated in this study, the researchers treated the films as nodes in a network and measured the number of connections each film has to other films and how influential the films connected to it are. 
 
Similar methods have already been widely applied to measuring the impact of work in other fields, such as scientific publications. 
 
"The idea of using network analysis for ranking films is not completely new, but to our knowledge, this is the first study that uses these techniques to also rank personalities involved in film production," Bioglio said. 
 
The researchers suggest that their method could be used for research in the arts and by film historians. 
 
However, they caution that the results can only be applied to Western cinema as the data on IMDb are strongly biased towards films produced in Western countries.&nbsp;
