‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ will come to the theatres later than expected as makers are yet to get a director on the project.

The film that was earlier scheduled for Christmas 2020 release will now come out on Christmas 2021, as announced by the Warner Bros. on Monday.

The threequel will see the return of actors Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as they reprise their roles.

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are partnering on the film, which is set to once again feature Downey as the iconic British detective, while Law will play his famous sidekick, Dr Watson.

The threequel will hit the theaters 10 years after the first sequel, ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ as it debuted in December 2011. The film went on to earn $545.4 million at the worldwide box office.
