Speaking to reporters after holding talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, Lavrov said "We have long been advocating to resume the multilateral process for the Israeli-Palestinian settlement, as there is a universally recognized collective mediator, which is the Quartet comprising Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations."

"It is in this very framework, with the mandatory involvement of the Arab League, that we can, in practice and with hope for some kind of result, search for agreements that should be based on the principles of the two-state solution, as they are formulated in documents," he added.&nbsp;

The Russian foreign minister said the Quartet has not been convened for some time and its meetings are being blocked by the United States.&nbsp;

Lavrov further told reporters that regrettably, the UN Secretary-General, who is supposed to initiate such meetings, &nbsp;faded into the woodwork, as apparently, he is unwilling to irritate American colleagues, since Washington has outspokenly declared its course of handling this by itself and of getting the Palestinians and Israelis to reconcile, TASS reported.&nbsp;

The Israeli army said it launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the shooting, adding that the women were fired on in a car as they passed through Hamra junction, in the northern part of the Jordan Valley.

Russia calls for multilateral negotiations to resolve Israel-Palestine conflict: Lavrov

Russia invaded Ukraine as it wanted to throw out the “neo-Nazi” regime, foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday, adding that Kremlin is ready for talks if the Ukraine military surrenders.

“Putin took the decision to conduct a special military operation to demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine so that, freed from oppression, Ukrainians themselves could freely determine their future,” Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow.&nbsp;

The comments suggested that Russia intends to throw out Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s regime.

The remark came hours after Kyiv said it was ready for talks with Putin.

"If talks are possible, they should be held. If in Moscow they say they want to hold talks, including on neutral status, we are not afraid of this," advisor to the Ukrainian Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak told Reuters on Friday.

The soldiers are trying to “bypass” the northern city of Chernigiv -- where they were “rebuffed” -- to attack Kyiv, the Ukrainian army said on Facebook.

Want to throw out ‘neo-Nazi’ regime in Ukraine, says Russian foreign minister Lavrov

Russia will be forced to take necessary measures to eliminate unacceptable threats if the United States and NATO don’t respond to Moscow’s security proposals, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

“If a constructive response does not follow within a reasonable time and the West continues its aggressive line, then Russia will be forced to take all necessary measures to ensure a strategic balance and eliminate unacceptable threats to our security,” Lavrov told news agency Sputnik.

The remarks came hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden spoke over phone, where the two focused on the security guarantee talks set for early January 2022 amid simmering tensions over Ukraine.

The security guarantees talks will be held in three formats: between Russia and the US in Geneva on 10 January, followed by a Russia-NATO Council meeting on 12 January, and Russia-OSCE consultations on 13 January.

Lybia is currently a divided country, &#39;hostage&#39; of a power struggle between several factions.&nbsp;

Moscow declared to be ready to mediate between the rivals in order to find a common solution and bring back peace in a strategically oil and gas-rich country. &quot;Moscow confirmed its readiness to work closely with all sides in Libya with the aim of seeking mutually acceptable solutions to create the grounds for the stable development of Libya as a united, sovereign and independent state,&quot; the ministry said in a statement.&nbsp;

The Libyan political delegation had been accompanied by officials representing the National Oil Corporation and the defense ministry.&nbsp;

Al-Seraj&#39;s major rival is Khalifa Aftar, a military commander who enjoys support by many factions active in the east of the country. Seraj visit to Moscow could be seen as an effort to overcome this rivalry which is paralysing Lybia.&nbsp;
