“Swiggy support was shameless including their escalation team as they were not ready to replace the items and were trying to play smart with words for a partial refund (sic.),” he added.

“Finally reported the issue to govt's Ingram consumer helpline and also mailed my bank to reverse credit the amount,” he said.

“I have a digital scale. Got underweight products,” a user said, sharing their experience with Swiggy Instamart. “Same story gave me a 50% refund and I agreed. Then I realised, what about the others who don't have a scale? How widespread this practice is?”

“Think about how many orders they deliver every single day and how often they underweight stuff compared to what’s printed on the stickers. It’s not some innocent mistake; it’s a system,” a user commented on the post.

Another agreed, “This should be a direct consumer court case, they should be fined and you can follow the case with cheating.”

In response to the incident, Swiggy has issued a statement: “At Swiggy Instamart, merchants undergo a thorough vetting process before they are onboarded, which includes verifying certifications such as FSSAI. Once onboarded, they are mandated to ensure that all supplies are subjected to rigorous quality checks and any shipment that doesn’t meet the criteria is completely rejected.”

“This particular instance is an anomaly by the merchant, and we are investigating how it happened. We take customer feedback seriously, and the issue has been resolved with the customer. Customer trust is our top priority, and we remain fully committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency to ensure such instances do not occur,”&nbsp;said a Swiggy Instamart spokesperson.

The duo expanded their operations by setting up call centres in cities across Malaysia, Thailand, the UAE, and India to create subsidiary apps for online betting.&nbsp;

They opened about 30 call centres in Chhattisgarh and other Indian states, with the support of Sunil Damani and Anil Damani, who were the trusted associates of Chandrakar and Uppal.&nbsp;

Through this, they both allegedly earned at least $23 million, allowing them to establish a criminal empire in the UAE.&nbsp;

Moreover, Chandrakar got married in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, in February 2023, and allegedly spent around $23.7 million&nbsp;in cash on the event, according to the ED's chargesheet.&nbsp;

Rutherford made up a story of a fatal accident at his construction site and said he needed funds to prevent deportation back to the United States, reported Hindustan Times. The woman sent him Rs 70 lakh ($83,365) in Bitcoin between April and June 2023 to help him. She also borrowed some money from her relatives to pay the fraudster, who&nbsp;promised to pay her back.

In June last year, Rutherford claimed that he sent her&nbsp;a parcel containing $2 million after which she received a call from one Priya Sharma, who claimed to be a Delhi airport official.&nbsp;

Sharma said that the parcel addressed to her had been intercepted by the Customs department. She asked the victim to pay various charges to receive the parcel. The victim complied with the demands and transferred funds to different bank accounts between June 2023 and March 2024.

"The fraud didn't end there," said a police officer involved in the probe. The fraudsters tried to extort more money from the victim and posed as executives from Bank of America, who claimed to have received the funds and had sent her an ATM card.

They demanded further payments from her amounting to Rs 17 crore ($2.02 million) into various accounts as the cost of exchanging the currency from dollars to rupees.

Even after making several payments amounting to Rs 1,29,43,661 ($154,149) in total, the woman kept receiving calls from several&nbsp;people claiming to be from various agencies or authorities. It was only then that the woman finally grew suspicious and realised that she had been scammed. The woman&nbsp;then filed an FIR at the West Region Cyber police station about the incident.

"We have initiated investigation but have yet to uncover any leads to trace the fraudsters," the police officer said.

From the recent budget of 2023, the government increased the customs duty on silver imports from China to 15 per cent, which greatly saw the imports from that country drop significantly.

Opposition leaders base those scam allegations on a GTRI report titled "FTA Led Spike in Gold and Silver Imports from UAE."

Noting that there may be possibilities of "tariff arbitrage" by which a few importers could make undue gains by taking advantage of the difference in duty, the GTRI report is stressed.

However, experts counter that this report fails to consider the overall geopolitical perspective and the gainful provisions CEPA granted.

It is the highlight of the experts that it is not one-way traffic.

India has also gotten concessions on its exports to the UAE, which include jewellery that attracts a 5 per cent waiver on import duty.

This is a bilateral trade agreement, an opportunity for Indian manufacturers to take on China in the global market.

Further, experts highlight that the GTRI report does not account for the loss in revenue India would have incurred by continuing to rely on China for silver imports.

They believe the report is one-sided and the research methodology or skills of the people who put together it were never made transparent.

An aspiring bureaucrat was extorted of Rs 1.2 lakh when he went on a “dinner date” with a woman he matched on the dating app Tinder, not knowing it was a well-planned plot to scam him. The man was lured&nbsp;to meet at Delhi's Black Mirror Cafe in the Vikas Marg area on the pretext of celebrating her birthday on June 23.&nbsp;

According to&nbsp;NDTV, they had ordered two cakes, four non-alcoholic shots, and some snacks. The date was going well until the woman had to leave urgently due to a family emergency. When asked for the check, he was shocked to see the amount written on the bill – Rs 1,21,917.70.

The victim argued with the cafe for the unreasonable amount as the food he ordered should have cost him only a few thousand normally. However, he was threatened and forced to pay the full amount, which he paid online to one of the cafe owners, Akshay Pahwa. After he left the cafe, he promptly filed a case with the police.

A team of four has been formed led by Inspector Sanjay Gupta to look into the case. The police took 32-year-old Akshay Pahwa, a resident of Shahdara in East Delhi, into custody.

During the investigation, he gave up information about the woman 25-year-old Versha, whose real name is revealed as Afsan Parveen. She also goes by the names Noor and Ayesha. She was on another "date" with a Mumbai man she met on Shaadi.com when police caught her.&nbsp;

The Black Mirror cafe is owned by Akshay Pahwa, Vansh Pahwa, and Ansh Grover. While Akshay and Vansh are cousins, Ansh is their friend. The other people involved in this sinister plot were the manager, Digranshu and the table manager, Aryan, a class 7 dropout. The money extorted from the victims gets divided between the players involved.

Aryan posed as Parveen and communicated with the victim on the dating app. Soon he invited him to the cafe to celebrate her birthday, where the victim met Parveen.&nbsp;

Parveen and Pahwa have been arrested by the police as the investigation continues. The cafe's register and their phones have also been impounded by the police. Measures are being taken to make further arrests of the people involved in the scam.
