Caught unware, Shakeel reached the crease beyond the stipulated time of three minutes. As soon as he arrived, opposition captain Amad Butt appealed and Shakeel was given time out. He became only the seventh batter to be given time out in history of first-class cricket.
After Shakeel departed, Shahzad dismissed Irfan Khan on the fist ball and completed his hat-trick as SBP were reduced to 128/5 from 128/1 in space of three balls.
The game was also played in unique situation - in overnight format. The final began on Mar 4 - after the holy month of Ramazan started. During the month, devout Muslims keep fast (no food or water) throughout the day for 30 days and only eat post sunset and before sunrise.
Keeping in mind the heat during the day time coupled with no food or water situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kept the timings of the game from 7:30 pm to 2:30 am (next day).
As for the match, PTV bowled out SBP for 205 in the first innings after getting an opening. For SBP, Imran Butt top scored with 89 while his opening partner Rameez Aziz contributed 40 runs. For PTV, Shahzad took 5/22 and Ali Usman took 2/10.

Pakistan's Saud Shakeel equalled 65-year-old record in country's Test batting history on day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Wednesday (Aug 21). Shakeel reached 1000 runs in Test cricket in his 20th innings of 11th Test - the joint fastest for Pakistan along with Saeed Ahmed who had made the record back in 1959 in same number of innings of 11 Tests.

On his way to equalling history, Shakeel crossed Pak great Javed Miandad who had scored 1000 Test runs in 23 innings of 14 Tests. He also surpassed second-placed Sadiq Mohammad who had reached 1000 test runs in 22 innings of first 13 games he had played.

Pakistan has strengthened their batting lineup by adding rising Test star Saud Shakeel to the 17-man squad for the Asia Cup 2023. The left-handed batter has replaced Tayyab Tahir in the team, who will now travel with the side for the six-team tournament as a reserve player.

In his brief career, Shakeel has played just five ODIs, including the recently concluded final One-Day against Afghanistan in Colombo, which Pakistan won by 59 runs. Shakeel scored nine off six balls before getting run out.&nbsp;

<h2>Pakistan players to assemble in Multan before Asia Cup</h2>

The Asia Cup-bound Pakistan players, who were part of the ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka, will reach Multan on Sunday. Per a PCB release, three players – Imam-ul-Haq, Captain Babar Azam and seamer Naseem Shah will first travel to Lahore on Sunday and join the team in Multan on Monday.

Upon attaining the number one status in ODIs following the Afghanistan series, the Pakistan Team looks to take the cricket world by storm in the two upcoming multi-team events – Asia Cup 2023 and Cricket World Cup 2023. Babar Azam-led side will face Nepal in the opening game of the Asia Cup on August 30 in Multan.

The team will then travel to Pallekele in Sri Lanka for the marquee clash against arch-rivals India on Saturday, September 2. If India and Pakistan qualify for the next round, they will face off again in the tournament.&nbsp;

Both teams will see each other next in the Cricket World Cup on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.&nbsp;

Heading into the mega event, India and Pakistan are favourites to reach the semis, given their hold in the subcontinent conditions and with the squad at the helm.

<h2>Saud Shakeel hits double century</h2>

Middle order batsman Saud Shakeel did wonders for Pakistan. Shakeel remained unbeaten after scoring 208 runs in 361 balls with the help of 19 fours. He has become the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century while batting at number five.

Saud Shakeel has also become the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century in Sri Lanka. Earlier, the highest score in Sri Lanka was 196 by Mohammad Hafeez. This was Shakeel’s first away Test, and the 24-year-old left-handed batsman left no stone unturned to make it a special one.

At one point, Pakistan lost five wickets for just 101 runs. After this, Saud Shakeel, along with the lower-order players, took his team to 461. Apart from Shakeel, Agha Salman scored 83, Nauman Ali scored 25, Shahin Afridi scored 09, Naseem Shah scored 06 and Abrar Ahmed scored 10 not out.
