<p>"I'm going to have to make a big adjustment. I might be 0-1 down a lot this year," said the Padres' star. "It's super fast. There's definitely going to be an adjustment period, but going down in the history books," added Machado.</p>

<p>Machado's strike out decision clearly didn't go down well with Padres manager Bob Melvin has he got into the argument with umpire Kulpa as well. Melvin was also escorted out of the ballpark by another umpire in his 10th Major League ejection of his career.</p>

<p>The day got even worse for the Padres as they blew a four-run lead and lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-6. The loss, however can be attributed to bullpen which just could not handle the pressure while trying to preserve Yu Darvish on debut.</p>

<p>In some good news for Padres, however, Fernando Tatis Jr. will soon be ending his 80-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. Tatis Jr. has 14 games left in his suspension and will soon be starting training with Triple-A El Paso.</p>

<p>Third baseman Manny Machado is reportedly going to sign a 11-year, $350 million extension deal with his current team, the San Diego Padres, as per ESPN. Machado has been with the Padres since 2019 after signing 10-year, $300 million deal.</p>

<p>The 30-year-old star third baseman, however, had said last week that he wanted to let go five years and $150 million of his current deal after the initial extension negotiations didn't work out. However, with this new deal in sight, Machado staying with the Padres for a long-time remains an actual possibility.</p>

<p>In the last season, the third baseman had one his best years in the Major League Baseball (MLB) with 32 home runs and 102 RBIs. He also was second on the list of National League (NL) MVP voting. The Padres, who are trying to win their maiden World Series, would be very happy to keep Machado.</p>

<p>Notably, the Padres reached the National League Championship Series last season but lost to the Philadelphia Phillies.
