District and Sessions&nbsp;Judge of Patiala House Court on Monday approved <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/nirbhaya-rape-case-court-seeks-status-report-from-tihar-jail-authorities-224277">Nirbhaya</a>`s parents` application seeking transfer of the case to Additional Sessions Judge Satish Arora.

Advocate Seema Samriddhi Kushwaha, who is representing Nirbhaya`s parents in the case, said, "We had approached the court when legal remedies of the convicts got exhausted. We are seeking the court`s direction to the Tihar Jail authorities to expedite the execution of the rape convicts."

On December 16 in 2012, a 23-year-old paramedic student was gang-raped inside a running bus by six persons in the national capital.

The victim, who was severely assaulted and thrown out on the road along with her male friend, succumbed to injuries a few days later.

Out of the six perpetrators, one committed suicide by hanging himself in prison, while another, a juvenile, served maximum punishment of three years in a reform home and was set free in 2015.

The remaining four rapists were convicted and handed death sentence by a trial court in 2013, which was confirmed by the Delhi High Court in March 2014.

The <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/ncp-congress-shiv-sena-petition-supreme-court-to-pass-order-tomorrow-1030-am-264329">Supreme Court</a> upheld the Delhi High Court`s verdict in 2017.

On October 31 earlier this year, the Tihar Jail administration had issued a notice to the convicts asking them to file a mercy plea before the president.

As per law, the convicts can plead for mercy from the President and seek commutation of death sentence to life imprisonment. If the President allows the mercy petition, then the convicts may escape the gallows.

Goel, his aide and a woman conspired to extort money from the complainants after implicating them in a gang-rape case in Rajasthan's Alwar.

Earlier, the woman, involved in the conspiracy, had filed a complaint that she was gang-raped by five people in a hotel in Alwar. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the woman had been threatening the complainant and asking him for money.

Later, the police laid a trap to arrest the accused when they came to take the extortion amount.

"My relatives were being honey-trapped. First, the accused asked for Rs 11 core and then they settled the matter for Rs 2.5 crore. They took Rs 1 crore 15 lakh earlier and today they came to take Rs 30 lakh when they were arrested," said a family member of a complainant.

Earlier, Mohit Goel had spent more than three months in jail on allegations of fraud. However, on May 31, Ringing Bells Managing Director got bail from the Allahabad High Court. Ghaziabad-based Ayam Enterprises alleged that Goel ‘defrauded’ the company of Rs 16 lakh. Goel was arrested in February in Uttar Pradesh.

Charges against Goel and four other directors of Ringing Bells were framed on February 22 under Indian Penal Code’s Sections 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 120b (criminal conspiracy).

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud today agreed to hear on Wednesday the plea of Sahil Sharma and two others, who are college friends of the juvenile accused in the case.

According to their plea, they had already recorded their statements before the police and the magistrate.&nbsp

The three witnesses had in their statement before the magistrate said they gave their statement to the police under coercion.

The petition today alleged that the state police was now asking them to re-appear and re-record their statements and exerting pressure in their families.

The apex court had on May 7 transferred the trial in the sensational Kathua gangrape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl from Jammu and Kashmir to Pathankot in Punjab, but refrained from handing over the probe to CBI saying there was no need as the investigation has been conducted and the chargesheet filed.

The victim, from a minority nomadic community, had disappeared from near her home in a village close to Kathua in the Jammu region on January 10. Her body was found in the same area a week later.

The state police has filed the main chargesheet against seven persons and a separate chargesheet against a juvenile in a court in Kathua district.&nbsp

Supreme Court to hear Kathua witnesses plea alleging police harassment on May 16

The Jodhpur Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Court will pronounce its verdict today in a rape case against Asaram Bapu, a self-styled godman.&nbsp;

The judgement in the case will be pronounced inside the Jodhpur Central Jail.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Jodhpur court dismissed a petition seeking entry of media persons in Central Jail of Jodhpur for the coverage of Asaram Bapu rape case judgdment.&nbsp;

Security has also been beefed up outside Asaram rape case victim`s residence. "We have provided full security and safety to the victim and her family members and are alert," KB Singh, CO, Shahjahanpur said.

Delhi Police CPRO Deepender Pathak said that the police is alert and is in constant touch with concerned states and that adequate forces will immediately be deployed if required.&nbsp;

Jodhpur East (DCP) Amandeep Singh Kapoor said that all precautionary measures have been taken by the police to handle law and order ahead of the verdict tomorrow.&nbsp;

"We will not tolerate any kind of nonsense. We have taken all precautionary measures. We are confident that we will be able to handle law and order," Kapoor said.&nbsp;

A flag-march was also conducted by the security forces in Rajasthan`s Jodhpur ahead of the verdict.&nbsp;

Earlier in the day, the Union Home Ministry had reportedly asked Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana to tighten security and deploy additional forces.&nbsp;

These three states have a large number of followers of the self-styled godman.&nbsp;

Asaram rape case verdict on April 25: Security beefed up in 3 states, media entry banned

The crime branch which is investigating the alleged rape and killing of a minor girl in Kathua district, is in the process of submitting a supplementary charge sheet in the case, a spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Police said today.

However, the spokesperson did not mention the date when the supplementary charge sheet would be filed.

The crime branch submitted a charge sheet in the case against seven of the eight accused in the case at a court in Kathua on April 9, amid protest by local lawyers. The next day it filed a separate charge sheet against another accused, who was earlier said to be a juvenile.

"After completion of all legal formalities of investigation, a charge sheet was produced in the competent court of law and the investigating agency is in the process of submitting a supplementary charge sheet,? the spokesperson was quoted as saying in a statement here.

He also said there are no truth in reports that the girl was not subjected to rape before her killing.

"On the strength of opinion furnished by medical experts, it has been confirmed that the victim was found subjected to sexual assault by the accused,? the spokesperson said, adding the medical expert has also opined that the hymen of the victim was not found intact.

On the basis of medical opinion, Section 376 (D) Ranbir Penal Code was added in the case. Medical opinion has established beyond doubt that the victim was held in captivity and administered sedatives and her cause of death was asphyxia leading to cardio pulmonary arrest, he said.

The body of the girl was recovered from a forest in the district on January 17, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area.

On January 23, the government had handed over the case to the crime branch of the state police which formed a Special Investigation Team and arrested eight people including two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a head constable, who was charged with destruction of evidence.

PM Modi should follow his own advice and speak more often: Manmohan Singh

The resignations of two BJP ministers, who courted controversy by attending a rally supporting those accused of raping and killing a young girl in Kathua, will be handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for further action, said senior BJP leader Ram Madhav.

The senior BJP leader said the resignation of the ministers was to address the fears of not only its ally PDP and the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also the entire nation.

Madhav, who is the party's general secretary in-charge of the state, also said that the state government was told to withdraw the directive of the tribal affairs department on encroachments by nomads in forest land.

Madhav, who attened the legislative party meeting of the state BJP MLAs and MLC, said state party president Sat Sharma will send the resignations to the chief minister.

Forest Minister Lal Singh and Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga tendered their resignation in view of a perception being created, he said.

He lashed out at the Congress, alleging that it was trying to politicise the issue which should not be done.

"We, including the BJP which is in the government, will ensure justice for the girl and punishment for the culprits," he said.

Asked about the demand for a CBI probe into the incident, the BJP leader said, "The police have completed the probe and now it is in the court of law. It is for the court to decide."

Ganga and Singh had hit out at the police for arresting "one or the other person at will" in connection with the rape and killing of the 8-year-old girl in January this year.

Asking why the probe was not being handed over to the CBI, Lal Singh had said, "We too want that the real accused be punished... We have heard you. We will not allow this jungle raj, under which they (police) are picking up people at will, to continue. What kind of investigation are they doing?

The 'Hindu Ekta Manch', from which the BJP distanced itself, had also taken out a rally holding a tricolour to press for their demand.

It was earlier reported that the actress had filed a molestation complaint against the businessman at the Juhu police station. He was arrested for&nbsp;intimidating and stalking the actress.&nbsp;

The woman, a UPSC aspirant and daughter of a police couple, was raped about 200 meters from the Habibganj government railway police (GRP) station. Officials said that the crime scene fell in the MP Nagar police station limits.

The 19-year-old&nbsp;also claimed that the four men tried to strangle her to death after raping her and after thinking that she is dead, they left.

The victim soon after&nbsp;returned home and told her parents.&nbsp;An FIR had been lodged following the incident and the investigation was completed within 15 days.

The accused have been identified as Golu Bihari, Amar Chhantu, Rajesh, and Ramesh who were booked under Section 376 (2) N (raping repeatedly) and other subsequent IPC sections.

A Kerala court today found the accussed Ameerul Islam guilty for the murder and rape of 20-year-old Jisha in April last year.

The dalit law student who hailed from Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district in Kerela was found murdered at her home in Kuruppampadi on April 28th, 2016.

The murder of Jisha had led to large scale protests in Kerala. The police arrested Ameerul Islam after several days, another accussed Sabu who was the initial suspect had hanged himself in July.

The court is yet to announce the quantum of sentence. Jisha&#39;s mother told the media she wanted the &quot;death penalty&quot; for the accussed.

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court found Ameerul guilty of violations under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.&nbsp;

The court said that the charges under Sections 449 (trespass), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) had been proved.

Four police officials have been suspended and the city Superintendent of Police(SP) has been transferred in&nbsp;Bhopal over a gangrape case.

Police said all four accused have been arrested. The state government had suspended the Railway police officer Mohit Saxena earlier.
