I don`t know how much truth is there or how credible this accusation is. Has the proper investigation been done? I don`t know about all that.&nbsp;

"I personally don`t like to jump to conclusions and pass my judgment and suddenly start looking at a person differently. I cannot do that, it`s not right to do that. What I feel about Raju? I think he is a fabulous gentleman. He is a lovely guy. My association with him is so long, and I have never seen one wrong thing about him."

Anupama Chopra had confirmed that the woman had shared an account with her and that Vinod Chopra Films (VCF) has since set up a committee to address complaints of sexual harassment.

"I have offered my full support and recommended that she take the complaint to a legal body or a neutral party since we cannot be arbitrators or judges on this. "We also offered to set up an ICC at VCF (which we have set up since then) even though a VCF ICC could not have taken up the case since she was an RHF (Rajkumar Hirani Films) employee at the time. These are two separate companies," she said in an email dated December 5, 2018.

Anupama said the woman told her she needed time to think about how to take things forward.

She added, "I did not want in any way to pressurise her or steer her in any direction. As Vinod and I told her then, she has our full support and we are fully respectful of whatever decision she has taken."

Bollywood box office king Rajkumar Hirani believes a new golden age is dawning for the Indian movie industry as filmmakers look outside the box to tell more varied stories.

"Before there was a belief that you had to have songs," said Hirani, the man behind a string of Bollywood hits including the global sensation '3 Idiots'.

"Now people are completely experimenting with the subject matter," says Hirani.

Even those directors who continue to include songs are also exploring "much darker themes" -- and still enjoying massive box office success, he said.

A case in point is 55-year-old Hirani's latest offering, 'Sanju', which the director has brought to this year's 23rd Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, the largest of its kind in Asia.

'Sanju'&nbsp;is based on the real-life story of the rise and fall of Indian star Sanjay Dutt, who was born into Bollywood royalty but was jailed after being accused of involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks of 1993.

The director admits the project was a risk given the often grim nature of the story, which includes gritty scenes of drug taking and its lead character's descent into depression.

But the strong box office returns have convinced him that audiences want a wider range of options from Hindi language films.

'Sanju'&nbsp;has so far grossed $80 million, placing it third on Bollywood's all-time global earners' list, according to The Times of India newspaper.

"It's very much a human interest story about battling your demons," said Hirani. "It's a very different kind of film that I have done before.

"While I was making it everybody thought it was a mistake."

But Hirani said he was more confident the film might succeed after seeing the reaction of Dutt, who was released from jail in 2016, at a preview screening.

"He saw it three days before its release and I was watching him," said Hirani. "He was crying and after that, he sat at home and drank for three days, so I knew it had worked."&nbsp;

As a director and producer Hirani has reaped box office gold with a diverse range of films, from comedies including '3 Idiots'&nbsp;(2009) and alien-on-earth hit 'PK'&nbsp;(2014), to the sports drama 'Final Round'&nbsp;(2016) and now on to 'Sanju'.

Experts say the Indian film industry is on track for record earnings in 2018, after surpassing last year's $2.1 billion marks by the end of the first quarter.

Across all languages, India now produces more than 1,000 movies a year –- several hundred more than coming out of Hollywood.

Increasingly these films are finding a global audience.

Hirani's '3 Idiots'&nbsp;–- the tale of three friends struggling with the pressures of getting an education -- was a ground-breaker in terms of international box office success, with around $30 million in international takings.

Hirani said Bollywood filmmakers are expanding their own horizons as their audience grows, both domestically and globally.

But the filmmaker stressed he had found no magic wand for making great cinema.

"I don't think there's ever a formula for success in film," said Hirani. "If there was, everyone would share it. I've been fortunate

"I guess one of the principles I work with is making the film for yourself not an audience. At least then one person will like it."&nbsp;

"You can't judge what the world will like," he added. "If you laugh at the jokes you are writing if you can cry at the emotional scenes, then hopefully the audience will too."

'Sanju' trailer releases, Internet explodes with hilarious memes around the film

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani today said he had offered the part of Sunil Dutt to Aamir Khan for the<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-sanju-trailer-ranbir-kapoor-plays-many-shades-of-sanjay-dutt-in-rajkumar-hiranis-film--140941"> 'Sanju'&nbsp;biopic</a> but the superstar was reluctant to play an older character after 'Dangal'.

Khan recently revealed that he was offered the role of Sunil Dutt in the biopic, but he was more keen to play the lead role, which was already with Ranbir Kapoor.

When asked about this, Hirani said,?"Aamir is a friend and whenever I write a script, I narrate it to him to get a reaction. I had narrated this to him as well, not with the intention of casting him to play any role (but because) he reacts very interestingly to the script. Out of greed, I asked him if he would play Sunil Dutt's role."

The director said Aamir turned down the role but not without giving it some thought.

"He took it seriously and gave it a thought and said let's meet next week. When I met him, he showed me 'Dangal' and said 'I am already playing an older role, if my next film after this is again an older role, people will stop giving me young man's role', which was a valid argument," the director told reporters at the trailer launch of the biopic.

The entire star cast of the film was present at the trailer launch.

Ranbir plays the titular role in 'Sanju'&nbsp;which features Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Sonam Kapoor as one of the girlfriends of Dutt, Dia Mirza as his wife Manyata, Manisha Koirala as his mother Nargis and Vicky Kaushal as his friend.

The movie also features Anushka Sharma, and Hirani revealed that she is actually enacting him and co-writer Abhijat Joshi.

"Anushka is playing the role of me and Abhijat. She is playing a biographer from London who comes here and Sanju wants her to write a book on him but she's reluctant. When he was narrating his story to us, even we were wondering if we should do it or not.

"Sometimes we used to sit with policemen, lawyers, family. We were in two minds whether to do it or not. So she is actually playing us, but not a filmmaker, a biographer," Hirani said.

At the launch, Paresh Rawal revealed that he had once received a birthday letter from Sunil Dutt in 2005 out of the blue and he still has the letter.

"Usually, we discard birthday letters after a while but that particular letter stayed in my drawer. This is a wonderful connection. I think I was meant to play Dutt sahab's role," Rawal said.&nbsp;

Koirala, who plays Nargis Dutt, said when her film 'Bombay' had released, Sunil Dutt sent her a letter saying 'You remind me of Nargis Duttji'.

"I really take that as a huge compliment," Koirala said.

The film is scheduled to release on June 29.

Veteran actor Dharmendra and director Rajkumar Hirani were honoured for their contribution in Hindi cinema at the 55th Marathi Film Ceremony held in Mumbai on Monday.

The ceremony was organised by Maharashtra government. Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and Maharashtra's education and cultural affairs minister Vinod Tawde were the among the guests.

Dharmendra received the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award at the gala event. He had once shared the screen with Raj Kapoor in 'Mera Naam Joker'.

When asked how it felt to receive the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Award he said, "I have received many awards in my life but this honour is special. I am not only happy from the heart but my entire soul is happy. When you take the name of Raj saab (Raj Kapoor), there is an electrifying feeling in the heart and body."

Hirani was honoured with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award while Marathi actors Mrinal Kulkarni and Vijay Chavhan were also awarded for their contribution in the Marathi Cinema. &nbsp;

TV actress Ankita Lokhande, one of the guests present at the ceremony, said, "Today for the first time, I am attending the Marathi Film Awards ceremony. I am thankful for the invitation because I am a Maharashtrian. I like connecting with my Marathi roots because if you see Marathi theatre or films, we have taken our culture way forward so..."

She added, "I really hope to work in Marathi films provided I get a good role."

The actor-producer on Monday launched his friend and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani`s pilot wife-turned-author Manjeet Hirani`s book titled &quot;How To Be Human&quot; here.

The book talks about how people can learn from animals around them. In the book, Manjeet has mentioned how her pet dog Buddy Hirani is very disciplined when it comes to his diet.

On discipline in his own life, Aamir told the media: &quot;Actually, I am not disciplined at all. I am totally indisciplined. The only thing that gets me to be disciplined is my work so if I was not an actor and not in this field, I would have been the most indisciplined person.
