The extra caution&nbsp;stems from the PTI chairperson's claims that there could be another attempt on his life.</p>

<p>In the video, Imran Khan could be seen walking slowly towards the Lahore-based anti-terrorism court's entrance, surrounded by commandos carrying black bullet-resistant shields.&nbsp;</p>

Wait, what? Imran Khan appeared in court with head covered in a 'black bucket' as protection?

<p>Imran Khan, the former Pakistan prime minister, has been granted interim bail until April 13 in three cases by a Lahore-based anti-terrorism court. The cases relate to the clashes between his supporters and the police outside his Lahore residence last month. As per the Pakistan-based newspaper Dawn, the cricketer-turned-politician appeared before the court in a personal capacity. A Twitter video posted by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party showed the party chief arriving at the court with his face covered by black headgear and surrounded by security.</p>

<p>In the last hearing, Imran Khan was directed to ensure his presence at each subsequent hearing and join the police investigation into the cases.</p>

<p>The cases against Khan and his fellow PTI politician are for allegedly attacking police teams and burning official property vehicles outside the PTI chief's Zaman Park residence.</p>

<p>FIRs against them included Section 7 of the 1997 Anti-Terrorism Act and offences under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.</p>

<p>As per Geo News,&nbsp;the PTI Chairman appeared in court seeking bail concerning three instances;&nbsp;the Zille Shah murder case, arson, and interfering with state affairs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The clashes that erupted outside Khan's Zaman Park residence as per the press agency PTI were the result of a police operation to enforce an arrest warrant against Khan.</p>

<p>The warrant was issued by an Islamabad court in the Toshakhana case which alleges that the former PM purchased gifts, including an expensive Graff wristwatch — which he had received during his premiership — at a discounted price from the state depository called Toshakhana, before proceeding to sell them for profit.&nbsp;Khan had repeatedly failed to attend case hearings, which led to the warrant being issued against him.</p>

<p>The development occurred after the Lahore Police claimed that two deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), one station house officer (SHO) and eight constables were injured while maintaining the law and order at Imran Khan's rally on Thursday.</p>

<p>Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Imran Khan hailed the deceased PTI worker as a "special child" and a "passionate worker".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan announced on Saturday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party will dissolve its provincial assemblies next week in a bid to put pressure on the government to call early elections. Imran had urged the Shehbaz Sharif government to hold early elections but the Prime Minister has completely denied the request. With Pakistan going through extreme financial crisis due to natural disasters, the government has come under extreme pressure to organise polls.</p>

<p>"Next Friday (Dec. 23), we will dissolve the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies," Khan said while addressing a gathering of his supporters in the eastern city of Lahore, reported The Dawn.</p>

<p>The PTI currently controls two out of Pakistan’s four provincial assemblies and the decision to dissolve their positions has&nbsp;given rise to a legislative crisis. Local elections are generally held alongside the general elections but the government has not said when they will be conducted.</p>

<p>The general elections are stated to take place in November 2023. Sharif has said earlier that the government will not hold local elections before the stipulated time for the polls.</p>

<p>Punjab is the most populous province of Pakistan right now with a population of over 220 million and with the province in crisis, the political scene in the country is expected to get complicated soon. According to the constitution, the government needs to hold regional elections within 90 days of the legislators submitting their resignation and that puts Sharif in a tight situation.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, Jahangir Tareen, an estranged leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) hosted a dinner for his supporters. It was reportedly held at Jahangir Tareen's residence in Islamabad and a total of 31 PTI lawmakers were present at the dinner.</p>

<p>On the menu was a plan to launch a group of "like-minded lawmakers" both in the lower house of Pakistan's parliament and the Punjab provincial assembly.</p>

<p>Jahangir Tareen is one of the wealthiest politicians in Pakistan. He has assets worth 80 billion Pakistani rupees that's around $500 million. He also owns thousands of acres of farmland and some of the largest sugar mills in Pakistan.</p>

<p>He also lends a few private planes to PTI leaders for travel and in 2017 he was the highest taxpayer in Pakistan. He paid a total of 9 crore rupees in tax which is approximately $600,000 three years ago.</p>

<p>However, Jahangir Tareen has been fighting a corruption case. In March, Tareen and his son Ali Tareen were booked for fraud and money laundering.</p>

<p>Tareen senior was accused of using his position for his family's benefit which is the story of pretty much every politician in Pakistan.</p>

<p>However, Jahangir Tareen has vehemently denied all accusations. He says the charges are fabricated and is nothing but a witchhunt.<br />
Tareen claims he is being targeted because of the kind of wealth he has and the unmatched influence he enjoys in the party.</p>

<p>Now, the party officially stands divided. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf along with its allies holds 177 out of 342 seats in the federal assembly and 181 out of 369 seats in the Punjab provincial assembly.</p>

<p>It is a very thin majority in both places almost near the halfway mark and Jahangir Tareen claims to have the support of at least 31 lawmakers in both assemblies, if the lawmakers confirm their support then the federal assembly and the Punjab assembly could both head for snap polls.</p>

<p>Also, Pakistan's budget session is around the corner and the PTI will need the support of all its lawmakers to pass the budget. It's a dire state of affairs.</p>
