While Sreesanth first made headlines for taking the attack to the opposition (New Zealand) during their 2007 T20 World Cup face-off, Ashwin scored three fours against England during the Kolkata T20I in 2011. Prince’s contribution with the bat impressed his team captain Shreyas Iyer, who lauded him in the post-match presser. “We never let West Indies take on the charge, even though we kept on losing wickets. We steadied the ship in the middle order as well. That took us to a commendable total of 223. Even Prince coming and playing that cameo at the end - those were useful runs, I felt,” Iyer said.
Prince went wicketless, But India Win in Indore
Replacing Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI for the third T20I, Prince went wicketless in his four overs for 37. India will take on the West Indies in the first of five T20Is on Tuesday (Oct. 6) and the thing to watch will be the bowlers. India have rested ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the series and named Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav in the squad. Bumrah was recently part of the Asian Games 2026, in which India won gold, and is expected to play in the upcoming New Zealand tour next. India bowling coach Morne Morkel, meanwhile, is excited to see how Mayank and Prince - who made their name with pace in the Indian Premier League (IPL) - take on this opportunity.
Morkel wants bowlers like Prince, Mayank in India team
India are three-time T20 World Cup champions with the last two trophies coming back-to-back in 2024 and 2026. The next T20 World Cup is in 2028 and so is the LA Olympics, which will see cricket for the first time. Morkel, keeping those two trophies in sight, wants Mayank and Prince to learn the trade. Also Read - No guarantee for Sooryavanshi in West Indies T20Is but Morkel backs youngster"They are both young and are still learning their trade," Morkel said while talking to reporters in Lucknow on the eve of the first T20I. That is something we can try in the future to make better. I am excited to see how they go with this opportunity."
How Prince and Mayank have fared in IPL
Mayank first made an impression in IPL 2024 with his raw pace when he hurried the best of the batters. The pacer, however, has been plagued by injuries so far but has returned in better fitness, as was evident in the June T20Is against Zimbabwe earlier this year. He has even developed a slower ball, which was on show in IPL 2026 when he foxed Rohit Sharma.Prince, on the other hand, rose to fame with his ability to swing the ball both ways. He can also surprise batters with a short ball and a laser-guided yorker. His nip-backer to dismiss Virat Kohli in IPL 2026 also established his wicket-taking capabilities.

With Jasprit Bumrah rested, India will test young pacers Mayank and Prince Yadav against the West Indies in the T20I series as coach Morne Morkel prepares the team for future major tournaments.

The IPL 2026 match 50 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday (May 7) saw arguably the best ball of the season being bowled at Lucknow. Chasing the DLS revised target of 213 in 19 overs, defending champions RCB had already lost Jacob Bethell in the first over before LSG's Prince Yadav struck in the second over. Bowling his first over of the match, the Lucknow quick, who plays for Delhi in the domestic circuit, clean bowled India great and Delhi teammate Virat Kohli for a duck. With two down for nine runs in first eight balls of the chase, RCB could not recover properly and lost the game by nine runs.
Prince trumps King Kohli with ball of tournament
Kohli had played just ball so far in the innings when Price bowled a searing inswinger at good length. The ball went past Kohli's defence as he tried to meet the ball and hit the stumps. The off stump was uprooted and Kohli couldn't believe it. Prince was jubilant in celebration as leaped through the air and punched some as well. Have a look at what could be the ball of the tournament:

Batting first, Mitchell Marsh took the charge and scored 111 off 56 balls. Marsh was ably supported by Nicholas Pooran (38) in the middle before Rishabh Pant played a 10-ball 32 runs unbeaten cameo to take the team past 200. LSG eventually finished at 209/4 in 19 overs in the rain-affected match.Chasing the total, RCB tried their best with skipper Rajat Patidar scoring a brilliant 29-ball 61 before Tim David (40), Krunal Pandya (28) and Romario Shepherd (23) tried their best but the team fell short by nine runs and managed 203/6 in 19 overs.

The IPL 2026 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (Apr 9) was one to remember but there was a controversy as well. Batting first, KKR scored 181/4 thanks to Ajinkya Rahane (24-ball 41), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (33-ball 45), Cameron Green (24-ball 32 not out), and Rovman Powell (24-ball 39 unbeaten). KKR's score might have been better at least by six runs if Finn Allen's caught out dismissal was properly checked. Allen was caught out on boundary in the second over by Digvesh Rathi off Prince Yada but not without the drama. Upon replays, it was seen that the boundary cushion moved ever so slightly, making the out decision a dubious call. Also Read - IPL 2026 | LSG's INR 2.6 crore buy Mukul Choudhary reveals how he scored 54 not out off 27 vs KKR
Was Finn Allen not out - KKR reacts to controversial dismissal
Allen, batting on 9 runs, tried to hit the ball from Prince towards square leg region but the ball took the outside edge of his bat and flew towards the third man area. Definitely (more angles should have been looked at). We talked about that when he came off. We thought we had seen in the IPL that the umpires have gone upstairs for lesser things, and that are not as close as that. Maybe it was a blunder on their part, but we're not going to look into that and say that is what cost us two points tonight," Powell said.
Mukul snatches win from KKR
Despite all the drama, KKR were on the verge of winning after reducing LSG to 128/7 in 16 overs in a chase of 182. LSG's Mukul Choudhary, however, took it upon himself to turn the tables. The batter scored unbeaten 54 off 27 balls including 52 off his last 19 balls to take his team home on the last ball of a proper humdinger of the match.
