As the clock ticked down on Liverpool's unsuccessful bid to win their first English title in 29 years, a defiant refrain echoed around Anfield as all four sides of the famous old stadium chanted "We shall not be moved, we're the team that's gonna win the European Cup".

Liverpool may have fallen just a point short in the title race after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/manchester-city-retain-premier-league-title-218154">Manchester City retained the Premier League crown with their 4-1 victory at Brighton</a>.

But the Anfield faithful were determined to remind the world that Sunday's 2-0 win against Wolves in their last domestic game of the season wasn't the end of an incredible campaign for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side hope to turn the agony of their title near-miss into the ecstasy of a sixth European Cup when they face Tottenham in the Champions League final on June 1.

Tuesday's incredible 4-0 win against Barcelona that erased a 3-0 first leg deficit and sent Liverpool to their second successive Champions League final, ensuring their last shot at winning the title for this season didn't feel quite so painful.

City's incredible consistency meant Liverpool have to settle for second place -- the fifth time they have been runners-up since they were last crowned kings of English football in 1990.

But Sadio Mane's double gave them 97 points -- the third highest total in Premier League history behind only City's tallies this season and last.

Liverpool, beaten only once all season in the league, also equalled the club's top-flight record of 30 wins, set over 42 matches in 1978-79, after recording a ninth consecutive league victory.

No wonder Liverpool were given a standing ovation when the final whistle sounded.

Ninety minutes earlier, under picture-perfect blue skies, fans arrived at Anfield more in hope than expectation.

Many Liverpool supporters were decked in the hastily made replicas of the 'Never give up' t-shirt Mohamed Salah wore during the post-match celebrations against Barcelona on Tuesday, while the PA system blared out Journey's 'Don't stop believing' before kick-off.

But, with even the most diehard Kopite expecting City to win at Brighton, the mood around Anfield was one of pride in Liverpool's season rather than genuine belief the afternoon would end in a title party.

With Liverpool and Tottenham's Champions League heroics showing anything is possible, Klopp had insisted one more football miracle couldn't be ruled out.

Ear-splitting noise

As ever, Liverpool made a fast start and Senegal winger Mane gave them hope of an astonishing finale in the 17th minute.

Mane started the move with a sweeping pass wide to Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right and the defender slipped the ball back to Jordan Henderson.

Delivering a precise return pass, Henderson sent Alexander-Arnold racing away and his low cross deflected into the path of Mane, who fired home from close-range.

The ear-splitting noise around Anfield spoke of renewed faith as Liverpool moved to the top of the as-it-stands table while City were being held by Brighton.

Ten minutes later there was an even louder roar when the news filtered through that Glenn Murray had put Brighton ahead.

Even Kenny Dalglish, the Liverpool manager when they last the won the title, was scrambling to check the score on his phone.

But, just as fans erupted in scarf-waving delight, seconds later they learned of Sergio Aguero's equaliser for City, triggering an agonised wail of frustration from supporters holding their heads in their hands.

After a false alarm when Liverpool fans celebrated what they wrongly thought was a second Brighton goal, it was the taunting cheers of Wolves supporters in one corner of the stadium that broke the news that City had scored again.

Needing a Brighton goal hundreds of miles away on the south-coast more than they needed to do anything else themselves, both Liverpool and the crowd were flat at the start of the second half.

When Riyad Mahrez effectively wrapped up the title with City's third goal, Wolves fans delighted in chanting "Raheem Sterling he's top of the league" in reference to the former Liverpool winger now playing for the champions.

By the time Mane turned in Alexander-Arnold's cross in the 81st minute, all thoughts had turned to the bid for European glory.

Ilkay Gundogan's majestic free-kick made it 4-1 to put the icing on another glorious day for City who are the first club to retain the Premier League title for 10 years.

Manchester City pip Liverpool to Premier League title after beating Brighton 4-1

A thrilling Premier League title race comes down to the final day of the season on Sunday when Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will have to make history if they are to overtake leaders Manchester City and end their 29-year domestic title drought.

City lead by a single point, so to get their hands on the trophy Liverpool will have to become the first team in the history of Europe's richest domestic club competition to move above the leaders on the final day.

Pep Guardiola's City are firm favourites to retain the title as they travel to Brighton, a team that narrowly avoided relegation. Liverpool take on Wolves at Anfield, dreaming of a second dramatic turnaround in a week after the memorable 4-0 win against Barcelona on Tuesday that propelled them into the Champions League final.

The last team to start the final day in first place and not win the title were in fact Liverpool in 1989, when Arsenal's 2-0 win at Anfield clinched the old First Division.

Whichever club does win will have earned the trophy the hard way.

City, on 95 points, have won their past 13 Premier League matches to wipe out a seven-point lead for Liverpool and are on the brink of becoming the first team to win successive titles since Manchester United in 2009.

Klopp's men, with 94 points, have recovered from a mid-season stumble to record eight straight victories.

To underline the two clubs' dominance, third-placed Chelsea only have 71 points going into their final game against Leicester City.

Liverpool, who have been English champions 18 times but have not won since the 1989-1990 season, face the scarcely credible scenario of ending the season with the third-highest points tally in Premier League history and a single defeat yet still missing out.

Abu Dhabi-owned City look almost certain to finish off the job and Guardiola said he has so much faith in his players that a pre-match team-talk will not be necessary.

"I don't have to say anything to motivate them. I think my speech on Sunday will be zero," he said.&nbsp;

"They want to win the Premier League. From what I saw in the training sessions, they want to win it, knowing that we can lose it.

"We saw in the Champions League in the last week why this game is amazing. But we want to win. So we are going to go out there at Brighton to try to win the game."

If City only draw and Liverpool beat Wolves, it would hand the title to the Reds.

City cannot quite match the record 100 points they mustered last season but they have shown their ability to dig deep in recent weeks.&nbsp;

Guardiola's side have racked up 91 goals this season, but three of their past four wins have been 1-0 victories, including the nervy match against Leicester on Monday settled by a Vincent Kompany strike. It kept City on course for a historic domestic treble, which would underline their status as the dominant force in the English game.

'It's not in our hands'

Klopp will have to re-focus his players' minds after their heroics against Barcelona as they cling to the hope that City will slip up against Brighton.

"We think about Wolves now," said Klopp, who despite his stellar reputation has not won a major trophy since 2012.

"(Barcelona) was for sure one of the best moments in football history, not only Liverpool. But it has nothing to do with the weekend except that we should be confident."

The Liverpool narrative has changed dramatically since they humiliated Lionel Messi's Spanish giants amid ecstatic scenes at Anfield.

Even if they fall short on Sunday they have the chance to become champions of Europe for a sixth time if they beat fellow Premier League club Tottenham in Madrid on June 1.&nbsp;

Regardless of whether Liverpool finish the weekend on top, Klopp insists he is happy with his team's progress after four years in charge.

"Sunday is our last Premier League game. If we can win it, it's not in our hands what we get, but it doesn't make our season a little bit less good. It's just a different finish," he said.

Behind the front two, all the issues in the Premier League are virtually done and dusted.

Barring a spectacular swing in goal difference, Tottenham will finish above Arsenal and mathematically secure the remaining Champions League spot alongside Chelsea, while the highest Manchester United can finish is fifth.

Wolves, in seventh place, cannot be caught and will earn a Europa League spot provided Watford do not beat City in the FA Cup final.

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool's astonishing European fightback proves his side will not give up hope of winning the Premier League until <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/manchester-city-on-brink-of-premier-league-title-as-epic-race-reaches-climax-217323">Manchester City have the trophy in their hands</a> on Sunday.&nbsp;

Klopp's team staged arguably the greatest comeback in Champions League history on Tuesday when they thrashed Barcelona 4-0 to overturn a 3-0 semi-final first-leg deficit.&nbsp;

With an all-English Champions League final against Tottenham set for June 1, Liverpool can pour all their energy into one last push to win their first English title since 1990.&nbsp;

The Reds are one point behind leaders Manchester City heading into their final game of the season against Wolves at Anfield.&nbsp;

City will retain the title if they win at Brighton but a draw or loss for Pep Guardiola's men would open the door for Liverpool to be crowned champions if they defeat Wolves.&nbsp;

Given Brighton's lowly position, the odds are firmly on a City coronation, but Liverpool boss Klopp says this week's astonishing Champions League drama showed anything can happen when the pressure mounts.

Not only did Liverpool author a fightback for the ages, but Tottenham scored three times in their semi-final against Ajax to go through on away goals after trailing 3-0 on aggregate with just 35 minutes left.

"It's been a week of big football moments. But from our point of view it could be a big football moment on the weekend -- the week is not over yet," Klopp said.

"I think at the start of the week most people expected me to be sitting here and saying 'OK, after not being in the Champions League final, it's difficult to be champions'. Well now we are in the final and it is still difficult.

"We are not used to moments of glory but we win from time to time. Focus is not a problem. The only thing we can do is win this game."

In virtually any other season, Liverpool, who have 94 points and have lost only once in the league, would have been champions by now.

Having secured successive Champions League final appearances, the sting of failure will not be quite so sharp if Liverpool do not get a helping hand from Brighton this weekend.

But do not tell that to Klopp and his players.

Reflecting the togetherness and desire fuelling their remarkable season, Klopp revealed Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson will all play through the pain barrier against Wolves.

'It's only pain'

Salah missed the Barcelona game with a concussion, while Henderson (knee) and Robertson (calf) both suffered injuries in that match.

"The famous three words of this week in the dressing room is 'It's only pain'. Very important for all the young lads to learn," Klopp said.

Liverpool fans will be glued to their phones for updates from Brighton as the drama unfolds on Sunday, but Klopp just wants his team to focus on Wolves.

"Maybe our supporters shouldn't celebrate the result before it's 3-0 for Brighton and 87 or 88 minutes played, all the rest is only information, nothing else," Klopp said.

The manager is still waiting for the first trophy of his four-year Liverpool reign, but that pales into comparison with his club's nearly three-decade title drought.

When Liverpool last won the league, it was their 10th title in 15 years -- a period of dominance that came to an unexpected end when Kenny Dalglish resigned as manager in February 1991.

In the barren years since then, Liverpool have finished second four times, most famously falling just short when Steven Gerrard's slip in a defeat against Chelsea allowed City to sneak past them in 2014.

While Liverpool have a special relationship with the European Cup, which they have won five times, this is a club raised on legendary boss Bill Shankly's demand that "the league is our bread and butter, that's the one I want".

Winning their 19th title would spark delirous celebrations across Merseyside and, after what he has witnessed this week, Klopp senses one last miracle could be on the cards.

"Both teams have to win their games. That's not sure (to happen) in the moment, so we have to focus on that," he said.

Jurgen Klopp backs Liverpool for Premier League miracle

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes to have Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson fit for Sunday's Premier League finale against Wolves as the Reds aim to end a 29-year wait to win the title.

'It's only pain' says Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp; hopeful on Mo Salah's return for Premier League finale

Having absorbed everything Liverpool could throw at them in a titanic title battle, Manchester City will retain their crown with victory at Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

It is possible they could get by with a draw, or even an unlikely defeat, as they will start their final game one point ahead -- but Pep Guardiola's side know better than to expect gifts from Merseyside.

In all likelihood City will rack up a 14th successive Premier League win and Liverpool will beat Wolverhampton Wanderers to make it nine in a row and City will take the honours with 98 points to Liverpool's 97.

To put that into perspective those totals would be the second and third highest in the history of the Premier League -- behind only City's record-breaking 100-point haul last season when Guardiola delivered his first title.

If there was ever a case to share the trophy it is this season, such has been the excellence of both clubs.

Juergen Klopp's Liverpool finished 25 points behind City last year, but rose to the challenge and have bridged that gap playing football that at times has surpassed even the dazzling standards of Guardiola's side.

Liverpool have lost just once to City's four defeats and were briefly seven points in front in January, but in the run-in they have found that as well as the style that is Guardiola's blueprint, his team also have core of steel.

That manifested itself perfectly on Monday when, with Leicester City holding out at the Etihad Stadium, captain marvel Vincent Kompany thumped home a 30-metre screamer to send his side into the final day with their fate in their hands.

It was their third 1-0 victory in four games and, say what you like about Liverpool's armour-plated defence, City have conceded only three times in their last 13 games as they relentlessly went about becoming the first club to retain the Premier League title since Manchester United 10 years ago.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson admitted his side need a "miracle" to win the title now, but in a week in which they performed one to beat Barcelona 4-0, overhauling a three-goal deficit to reach the Champions League final, it would be folly to dismiss the notion of him raising the trophy aloft to end Liverpool's 29-year wait since they last reigned supreme.

"City are a great team, but so are we. We've competed right to the very end," Henderson said.

"Whoever gets it will deserve it. From our point of view, we couldn't have done any more."

It is only the eighth time in the Premier League era that the title has been decided on the final day.

Unusually it is the only issue realistically at stake.

Huddersfield Town, Fulham and Cardiff City have already been relegated while Chelsea are certain of a top-four finish and Tottenham Hotspur can only be denied by an improbable scenario in which they lose to Everton at home and Arsenal win at Burnley and also bridge an eight-goal inferior goal difference.

Even the "best of the rest" issue is decided with Wolves guaranteed seventh spot in their first season back in the top flight.

So there will be no distractions as Europe's most absorbing title race in years plays out its final acts simultaneously on the south coast and Merseyside.

"Two of the world's best strikers are not available tomorrow night and we have to score four goals against Barcelona to go through after 90 minutes," added Klopp.

"It doesn’t make life easier, but as long as we have 11 players on the pitch, we will try it."

Liverpool have a rich history of stunning comebacks in European football, most famously lifting the Champions League in 2005 after trailing the final 3-0 to AC Milan at half-time.

However, the German coach is aware of the extra difficulty of not just scoring at least three against the Spanish champions, but also not conceding a vital away goal to the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez that would leave Liverpool needing to score five to progress.

And Klopp admitted he could have one eye on Sunday's final league game of the season at home to Wolves with his team selection.

"We have to make a lot of decisions. Tomorrow night will be the third game in six days and Barcelona changed 11 positions on Saturday, so that is a massive difference as well of course," he said.

"Together with our supporters it was a long season and there is at least a little chance to make it even longer.

Mohamed Salah to miss Champions League second leg against Barcelona

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola considers Liverpool among the best sides he has faced in his managerial career with the two clubs set to fight for the Premier League title on the final day of the season.

Liverpool have a two-point lead over the defending champions but Guardiola's men have a game in hand and meet Leicester City at home later on Monday.

Liverpool have lost only once in the league this season and are also in the Champions League semi-finals, and Guardiola mentioned Juergen Klopp's side in the same breath as Barcelona's 2014-15 treble-winning team.

"In my career as a manager, I played against incredible sides," Guardiola told The Telegraph. "There are two that were, 'Wow'. One is Barcelona with Luis Enrique, with Neymar, (Lionel) Messi and (Luis) Suarez up front.

"The other is this Liverpool. I think they're the best two sides I've faced as a manager. That's why, arriving at this stage... after 100 points (last season), is the most satisfaction I've had as a manager."

Guardiola also praised his squad's resilience to claw their way back into the title race when they found themselves seven points behind the league leaders in January.

"When you're seven points behind, you could have said, 'It's done' and just think, 'We did it last season'," Guardiola added. "We did the opposite of that.

"The difference is Liverpool. We did the same job (as last season). It's incredible what we have done, but it will make more sense if we are able to lift the Premier League."

The Spaniard, who had previously managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich, said the English top flight was the toughest league he had managed in.

"It's the toughest league I've ever played as a manager, for the quality from the rivals, no doubt," Guardiola said.

"That's why being there is incredible but, of course, only one will take the prize and the other one will be at home sad."

One is Barcelona with Luis Enrique, with Neymar, (Lionel) Messi and (Luis) Suarez up front. "The other is this Liverpool. I think they're the best two sides I've faced as a manager. That's why, arriving at this stage... after 100 points (last season), is the most satisfaction I've had as a manager." Guardiola also praised his squad's resilience to claw their way back into the title race when they found themselves seven points behind the league leaders in January. "When you're seven points behind, you could have said, 'It's done' and just think, 'We did it last season'," Guardiola added. "We did the opposite of that. "The difference is Liverpool. We did the same job (as last season). It's incredible what we have done, but it will make more sense if we are able to lift the Premier League." The Spaniard, who had previously managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich, said the English top flight was the toughest league he had managed in. "It's the toughest league I've ever played as a manager, for the quality from the rivals, no doubt," Guardiola said. "That's why being there is incredible but, of course, only one will take the prize and the other one will be at home sad."

Liverpool one of the best teams I've faced as manager: Pep Guardiola

Divock Origi headed&nbsp;Liverpool&nbsp;back to the top of the Premier League despite losing Mohamed Salah to a head injury in a thrilling 3-2 win at Newcastle.&nbsp;

At the other end of the table, Cardiff were relegated after their 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Liverpool's thrilling title battle with Manchester City is now guaranteed to go down to the final day of the season as Jurgen Klopp's men moved two points ahead once more at the top.

City have a game in hand, at home to Leicester on Monday, but&nbsp;Liverpool&nbsp;refuse to give up in their pursuit of a first title for 29 years.

"If we are champions then we are champions, you can't feel pressure when you do your best," said Klopp.

"94 points is incredible. Today was a battle of will but it was a victory of passion, heart and absolute desire -- absolutely brilliant."

Virgil van Dijk headed the visitors into an early lead at St. James' Park, but&nbsp;Liverpool were fortunate when Newcastle levelled through Christian Atsu.

Liverpool&nbsp;right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold had handled Salomon Rondon's effort on the goal line and could have conceded a penalty and been sent-off after just 20 minutes had Atsu not put home the rebound.

Alexander-Arnold was the creator as Klopp's men quickly retook the lead through Salah.

However, Rondon levelled once more for Newcastle early in the second half.

Salah then had to be stretchered off with a head injury after clashing with Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, which will make him a doubt for Tuesday's Champions League semi-final, second leg against Barcelona.

Yet, despite also missing Roberto Firmino through injury,&nbsp;Liverpool&nbsp;found a response four minutes from time when Origi flicked home Xherdan Shaqiri's free-kick.

"You feel the emotion. It's a very special season for everyone," said Origi. "But as a player you have to channel that feeling into the performance and in the end it worked out."

Liverpool regain Premier League lead with 3-2 win at Newcastle

Liverpool will be without their Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino for Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona at Anfield, manager Juergen Klopp said on Saturday.

Klopp could also be without another key forward in Mohamed&nbsp;Salah&nbsp;after the Egyptian was carried off with a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/liverpool-regain-premier-league-lead-with-3-2-win-at-newcastle-216048">head injury in Saturday's 3-2 win at Newcastle</a>.

Firmino, who has a muscular injury, was not included in the matchday squad for Saturday's game at St. James' Park and Klopp said he will not feature against the Spaniards as Liverpool look to overturn a 3-0 deficit from the first leg.

"He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest we will see,” said Klopp, whose side face Wolves in their final Premier League game on May 12.

Klopp said it was too soon to say whether&nbsp;Salah&nbsp;would be able to play against Barca.

"What I heard, he got the hip of the goalie on his head," Klopp said.

"He was then on the ground and the doc had to make a decision 'on the pitch or off the pitch', and the decision was off the pitch. We accept that of course.

"When we came in he was sitting in the dressing room watching the game on television. So he was then fine, but of course we have to wait. He got a proper knock, obviously, in that situation."

Divock Origi, who grabbed the 86th-minute winner at Newcastle, could start against Barca while Daniel Sturridge, who started on Saturday, would be another option.

Liverpool's Roberto Firmino out of Barcelona visit, Mohamed Salah at risk

Cardiff City's brief stay in the Premier League ended on Saturday after they were beaten 3-2 by visitors Crystal Palace in a result that ensured Brighton &amp; Hove Albion stay up.

Cardiff needed a win to stand any chance of catching 17th-placed Brighton, who are four points above them with one game remaining.

Goals from Cardiff's former loanee Wilfried Zaha, who was jeered on his return to Wales, Michy Batshuayi and Andros Townsend sealed the home side's fate after they were given brief hope by a comical own-goal equaliser by Martin Kelly.

Bobby Reid hit back in stoppage time but the goal came too late to make a difference.

Cardiff's chances were not helped by an early injury to influential Victor Camarasa, who limped off after just 11 minutes.

Zaha opened the scoring on 28 minutes before Kelly sliced the ball past his own keeper three minutes later. But Batshuayi restored Palace's first-half lead after rounding off a clever move with Jordan Ayew.

Cardiff rallied after the break with Josh Murphy and Kenneth Zohore both going close, and Kelly clearing another Murphy effort off the line. The misses highlighted Cardiff's major deficiency this season when they have consistently come up short in front of goal.

Palace soon made them pay, with Townsend bursting from the halfway line to shoot in off the post after 70 minutes as Palace won for the fifth time in six away league games.

This is the second time in five seasons Cardiff have gone down after just one campaign and the third time manager Neil Warnock has experienced a top-flight drop.

"Hopefully we can bounce back," said Cardiff captain Sean Morrison. "The fans can see how much effort we've put in - it's nice to know they've got our backs.

"We would've loved to have taken it to the last day. We've fallen short today and over the season and we're relegated because we didn't do enough over the year. We've lacked a bit of quality."

Cardiff relegated as away-day kings Palace hit three

Tottenham Hotspur had two men sent off and failed to make sure of a Premier League top-four finish after slipping to a 1-0 defeat by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

With Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United -- Tottenham's rivals for third and fourth -- not in action until Sunday, a win for Spurs on the south coast would have sealed a top-four finish and qualification for next season's Champions League.

They dominated early on in the sunshine at the Vitality, but found Premier League debutant goalkeeper Mark Travers in inspired form for the hosts as the 19-year-old made a string of fine saves.

Tottenham's task was made all the more difficult two minutes before the interval when forward Son Heung-min was sent off for pushing Jefferson Lerma and halftime substitute Juan Foyth lasted 125 seconds before seeing red for a lunging tackle.

Bournemouth struggled to make their numerical advantage count until Nathan Ake climbed highest to meet a corner and head a dramatic winner in the 90th minute.

Spurs, who trail Ajax Amsterdam 1-0 going into their Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday, stayed third, two points clear of Chelsea and four ahead of Arsenal with the top-four race set to go to the final day of the season.

"The first 40 minutes we played well and created chances but didn't score," Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said. "Then we know football can be cruel, they scored in the last minute.

"We need to move on. I will respect the decision of the referee (on the red cards)."

Travers, the first teenage goalkeeper to start a Premier League game since Joe Hart in 2006, produced a string of fine saves to deny Spurs an early goal.

A moment of madness from Son earned him a straight red card for shoving Lerma to the floor right in front of referee Craig Pawson.

Pawson was called into action again as he brandished the red card at Foyth for a dangerous lunge on Jack Simpson.

Spurs, though, looked comfortable in defence before poor marking at a corner allowed Ake to power home a header and send Tottenham to their 13th league defeat of the season.

"It's important to do well against the top teams," Ake said. "I think we want to do this more and it's good we’ve done that today."

Bournemouth defeat nine-man Tottenham Hotspur 1-0

Everton bolstered their chances of qualifying for next season's Europa League with a 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Friday.

Marco Silva's side moved into eighth place, one point behind seventh-place Wolverhampton Wanderers, who host Fulham on Saturday.

Everton continued their impressive recent form, starting brightly and taking the lead after 18 minutes through Ben Mee's own goal, with the defender deflecting in Richarlison's powerful effort.

Seamus Coleman doubled Everton's lead two minutes later, heading home the loose ball after Tom Heaton could only parry Lucas Digne's drive.

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes had a goal correctly disallowed for offside as Sean Dyche's men, safe from relegation, threatened briefly.

Matej Vydra was denied a penalty when former Burnley defender Michael Keane appeared to push him over in the box and Everton held on to record their eighth clean sheet in 10 Premier League matches.

Goodison Park warmly applauded Everton's players on a lap of appreciation, reward for their impressive form in 2019.

If league leaders Manchester City win the FA Cup, the team that finishes seventh in the standings will qualify for the Europa League.

"We've ended the season well, at the mid-point of the season we were very poor," Coleman told Sky Sports.

"For periods of the season the fans were frustrated with how we were playing and that's understandable.

"We wanted to finish in seventh, maybe top six and going forward that's what we've got to aim for. This club needs a trophy and with this manager and this set of players we have to aim for it."

Everton ease past Burnley to keep Europa League dream alive

Pep Guardiola does not expect Liverpool to be affected by their Champions League semi-final defeat by Barcelona as they resume the battle for the Premier League title with his Manchester City side.

Juergen Klopp's men were <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/lionel-messi-leads-barcelona-over-liverpool-in-champions-league-semi-final-first-leg-215187">outplayed in a 3-0 loss at the Nou Camp</a> in the first leg on Wednesday, and travel to Newcastle United in their penultimate game of the league campaign on Saturday (May 4).

"I think the game was incredibly good. The game for the semi-final for the Champions League, both sides were incredible. Liverpool were outstanding," Guardiola told reporters ahead of City's home clash against Leicester City on Monday.&nbsp;

Leicester will arrive at the Etihad Stadium with Jamie Vardy in fine form, finding the net 11 times in his last 11 league appearances.

Guardiola hailed Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers' impact on Vardy's style of play since the Northern Irishman took charge at the King Power Stadium in February.

"Brendan (Rodgers) shows his incredible qualities as a manager, the fact that in just two or two and a half months his team is already playing the way he wants to play. Everybody in their positions, his movements are always well coordinated and of course, with incredible quality," he said.

City know that a win over Leicester, followed by victory at Brighton &amp; Hove Albion on the final day of the campaign will ensure City a second consecutive league title.

Guardiola confirmed playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is out of contention for Monday's clash. The Belgium midfielder has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 league win over Tottenham Hotspur last month.

The Spanish manager is also unsure about Fernandinho's availability for the match, with the Brazilian midfielder still recovering from a knee injury.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery for an injury sustained in Sunday's 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester United, the London club said.

Rudiger, who hurt his left knee and limped off after 65 minutes, will miss Chelsea's final two league matches against Watford and Leicester as well as their Europa League campaign where they take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals.

"Toni Rudiger successfully underwent surgery on his left knee meniscus today. He will miss the rest of this campaign and will rehab over the summer to be back early next season," Chelsea said on their website.

Andreas Christensen is expected to fill in at centre back for the 26-year-old Germany international when Chelsea visit Frankfurt for the first leg on Thursday.

"What a pity I won't be able to help my team during the last games of the season. But my knee surgery went well and I'm already positive again," Rudiger said on Instagram.

Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger out for season after knee surgery

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must show he is not afraid to make big decisions and drop error-prone goalkeeper David de Gea for the final two games of the Premier League season, former England striker Ian Wright has said.

De Gea has made a number of uncharacteristic mistakes in recent games, including one that allowed Chelsea to equalise in Sunday's 1-1 draw that dented sixth-placed United's chances of finishing in the top four.

Solskjaer backed De Gea to shake off his poor form in their final two games against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City but Wright believes the Norwegian has to take a different approach.

"If he (Solskjaer) really wants to stamp his mark and let people know he isn't afraid to make decisions, he should take him out," Wright said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

"If the manager explains everything and tells him face to face why he's leaving him out and giving him a break, that's man-management and that's what Solskjaer has to do."

De Gea's contract was due to expire this year before United activated a one-year extension but that has not stopped media reports from linking him with a move away from Old Trafford.

Wright said an early end to De Gea's season would help the struggling Spaniard sort out his future at the club, while back-up Sergio Romero fills in.

"He (De Gea) needs to go on holiday and sort his contract out," Wright added. "Sometimes you have to take someone out the firing line. He's one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he needs a break.

"There's a lot going on and he's under a lot of pressure. When you look at how United are playing at the moment, putting him in that situation is putting him under more pressure."

Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must show authority by dropping De Gea: Ian Wright

Chelsea bolstered their top-four hopes with a 1-1 draw at Manchester United after the home side's Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea gifted the Londoners an equaliser in the Premier league on Sunday.

United led through Juan Mata's 11th-minute strike but just before halftime, the visitors were level when De Gea weakly parried an Antonio Rudiger shot into the path of Marcos Alonso.

With two games remaining in the season, the result put fourth-placed Chelsea on 68 points, two clear of Arsenal who are fifth and still three ahead of sixth-placed United in the race to earn a Champions League berth for next season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United have run out of steam, having won just two out of their last 10 games in all competitions.

The hosts dominated the first half, fully deserving to take the lead when marauding left-back Luke Shaw latched onto a chip into the area from Romelu Lukaku and passed across the goal for Mata to score against his old club on his 31st birthday.

But De Gea, whose form has dipped in recent weeks with a string of uncharacteristic errors, failed to deal with Rudiger's shot and Alonso pounced to bring Chelsea level in the 43rd.

Chelsea draw at Manchester United to boost top-four chances

Liverpool centre back Virgil van Dijk was named Player of the Year by England's Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) on Sunday, becoming the fourth player from the Netherlands to win the award.

The 27-year-old has transformed Liverpool's defence since joining from Southampton in January last year for a world record fee of 75 million pounds ($96.89 million) for a defender.

The Dutchman has helped the title-chasing Merseysiders keep 19 clean sheets in the Premier League and they have conceded the fewest goals in the top flight so far this season.

Liverpool are also in the Champions League semi-finals.

"I think it's the highest honour you can get as a player to get voted Player of the year by the players you play against every week. It's special. I'm very proud and honoured to win," Van Dijk told Sky Sports.

Arsenal's Dutch forward Vivianne Miedema, 22, claimed the women's Player of the Year award, having earlier on Sunday helped the London club secure their third Women's Super League title with her 22nd goal of the season.&nbsp;

Van Dijk topped a six-man shortlist, voted for by PFA members from the 92 Premier and Football League clubs, beating Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva plus teammate Sadio Mane and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard.

The Dutch international is the second Liverpool player in a row to win the award after forward Mohamed Salah last year and joins compatriots Dennis Bergkamp, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robin van Persie in claiming the honour.

Van Dijk is the first defender to win the award since Chelsea centre-back John Terry in 2005.

Manchester City's England forward Sterling won the men's young player award with the club's England forward Georgia Stanway taking the equivalent women's prize.

City's England Women's captain Steph Houghton was presented with the PFA Special Achievement award.

Liverpool centre back Virgil van Dijk was named Player of the Year by England's Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) on Sunday, becoming the fourth player from the Netherlands to win the award.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling was voted Footballer of the Year in the annual vote of members of the Football Writers' Association, announced on Monday.

City forward Sterling has been a key member of the City team which is two wins away from defending their Premier League title and has also been a prominent voice in the campaigns against racism in the game.

Nikita Parris won the FWA's Women's Footballer of the Year award -- like Sterling, the 25-year-old plays for Manchester City and England.

The FWA said Sterling collected 62 per cent of the vote of more than 400 members of the organisation which brings together journalists and others in the football media.

Sterling had 100 votes more than Liverpool's Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk, who on Sunday was named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year.

Other players to receive votes from FWA members were Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal), Bernardo Silva and David Silva (Manchester City).

FWA chair Carrie Brown pointed out that the criteria for the award is for a player who by "precept and example" is considered Footballer of the Year.

"To have been voted the 2019 Footballer of the Year by our members, and with such an overwhelming majority, clearly acknowledges the contribution from a player over one season," said Brown.

"But it also recognises the huge impact of Raheem's courage to challenge preconceptions and fight racism, which will leave a legacy not just for future generations in football but society as a whole."

Parris won by a narrow margin from Arsenal and Netherlands striker Vivianne Miedema who was named PFA Women's Player of the Year.

It was nervy and scrappy but a 1-0 win at Burnley on Sunday was enough to return Manchester City to the top of the Premier League and keep them on track for back-to-back titles.

Sergio Aguero's 63rd-minute goal at Turf Moor moved City onto 92 points, restoring their one-point advantage over Liverpool at the summit with just two games remaining.

Pep Guardiola's side now need to win their final matches at home to Leicester City and away to Brighton and Hove Albion to retain the title and break the hearts of second-placed Liverpool who have tracked them all the way.

The victory was the 12th win in a row for City, who have shown no signs of giving Juergen Klopp's Liverpool, who have lost just once all campaign, the slightest opening.

Yet the afternoon did provide some encouragement for those in Merseyside following the match, with City frustrated until the second half when they broke through with an uncharacteristically scrappy goal.

Aguero's shot was chested out and cleared by Matt Lowton on the goalline but technology ruled the effort had crossed -- a minor compensation for Guardiola after a VAR video review had led to his team's elimination from the Champions League.

It was an unusual sight to see Guardiola take off two forwards in the latter stages and replace them with central defenders and while the City boss joked that he was "trembling" at the end, his counterpart Sean Dyche claimed the Spaniard had been yelling for his team to get the ball in the corner.

City had enough possession and chances to have put the game to bed well before the tense final minutes, but even if Burnley created very little attacking threat, Guardiola was leaving nothing to chance.

"In the first half we didn't create too much but of course it is what it is," said Guardiola, who pointed the finger at a dry pitch and what he viewed as long grass for his side lacking their usual slickness.

"Ninety-two points is incredible - it is in our hands, we must win our next two games and our next one against Leicester."

"We didn't concede one shot on target or one corner, we are a small team but we are smart, in the first half the pitch was so dry and it was slow but in the second half we knew we had to score our goal.

"In the last minutes anything can happen, always it is difficult if you cannot close the game," he said.

Fierce Blast

The visitors struggled to get into their usual rhythm in the first half but came out strongly after the break and Burnley keeper Tom Heaton did well to keep out a fierce blast from Sergio Aguero at the near post.

Burnley were fortunate to escape a penalty appeal when a drive from Bernardo Silva appeared to strike the arm of Burnley's Ashley Barnes.

Heaton did well to keep out another fierce drive, this time from Bernardo Silva, before City finally took the lead.

Raheem Sterling went close to a second but Burnley defender Ben Mee produced a wonderful goalline clearance to keep the Clarets in the game.

Burnley, however, pushed hard at the end with Guardiola bringing on John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi as City held firm to claim the three points.

"It's fantastic for me to see Pep screaming 'Get the ball in corner' - that was pleasing for me... that's quite amusing," said Dyche.

Sergio Aguero strikes as nervous Manchester City hold firm for win at Burnley

Ten-man Arsenal suffered a 3-0 Premier League defeat at Leicester City on Sunday in another blow to their hopes of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.

Goals from Youri Tielemans and a Jamie Vardy double ensured Arsenal suffered a fourth loss in their last five league games, three of which have now come on the road.

They remain in fifth on 66 points, with top-four rivals Manchester United in sixth place (64 points) playing fourth-placed Chelsea (67) later on Sunday.

Unai Emery's side had defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles sent off for a second booking in the 36th minute for a late challenge on James Maddison. He had been cautioned earlier for a foul on Ben Chilwell.

"The second yellow card gave us a lot of problems," Emery said. "I don't agree with the first yellow card. It's the seventh minute of the game, but I respect the referee.

"It did change it a lot to play with one player less because we prepared with our game plan to be strong defensively. But with the red card the plan changed."

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers said referee Michael Oliver had no choice but to send off the 21-year-old.

"I think Michael had no choice," Rodgers said. "There was a number of fouls and it was his second foul in the game that got him a second yellow so it was a good decision.

"It was probably an accumulation of fouls and young Ben Chilwell staying on his feet in the box might have saved him from going earlier."

Emery withdrew Alex Iwobi at halftime to bring centre back Laurent Koscielny on to shore up the defence but Leicester dominated possession and had 12 shots on target in the match to Arsenal's one.

Arsenal had goalkeeper Bernd Leno to thank as the German made a string of saves to keep the visitors in the contest, but even he had no chance when Tielemans sneaked past the defence to head home Maddison's cross in the 59th minute.

Leicester doubled their lead through Vardy who latched on to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's long ball to first hit the crossbar and then head home the rebound with Leno in no-man's land.

Vardy grabbed another in stoppage time when Ricardo Pereira dribbled past the defence and squared the ball for the English striker who scored his 18th league goal of the season.

Leicester moved up to eighth and now have a chance of finishing seventh, potentially qualifying for the Europa League next season. Brendan Rodgers' side sit three points behind seventh-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers with two games to go.

Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League and Emery said they had to shift their focus to the first leg of the semi-final on Thursday when they host Spanish side Valencia.

"We are thinking in the present and the next match is Valencia," Emery said. "Then we think about Brighton (next Sunday) and winning.

"At the beginning of the season, during the season and now, we know we have possibility in the Europa League also and in the Premier League we will play Brighton at home and try to win."

Arsenal's top-four hopes hit in 3-0 defeat at Leicester

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat at their new stadium after Michail Antonio gave West Ham United a 1-0 win in the Premier League on Saturday.

Tottenham made a number of changes to their side as they prepared for their Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday but Mauricio Pochettino's gamble backfired against a resolute West Ham side.

Spurs dominated the first half and could have been ahead after 11 minutes when Son Heung-min was played through by Dele Alli but his shot from the left was too close to the near post of Lukasz Fabianski who got down to save.

The Pole also did well to deny Christian Eriksen who shot from close range after good work down the right from Lucas Moura.

Tottenham were made to pay for those missed chances as West Ham took the lead after halftime. A lofted cross from Marko Arnautovic in the 67th minute found Antonio who lashed it in past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs brought on Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen in the hope of getting an equaliser but could not find a way past. They remain third but will be under pressure from their top-four rivals, while West Ham stay in 11th position.

Not much more than pride was at stake for the Hammers but goalscorer Antonio was pleased to have given the fans some cheer in a lacklustre campaign for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

"For us to come here and get the first win is a great achievement. The fans are loving it and we've just got to keep it going," he told Sky Sports.

Pochettino was dismayed by the result but urged his side to pick themselves up quickly for Tuesday's game.

"I think the first half was good for us, second half they were better. They had more energy. We conceded a lot of space to run... We lost a lot of ball we gave them the possibility to make the game," he told a news conference.

"I'm disappointed; it's a setback. We wanted the three points, we wanted to arrive at the Champions League game in a good way but it was not (to be) but now we need to move on. It's about the recovery and get ready for Tuesday to play."

West Ham inflict first defeat on Spurs at new home

Winter returned to Anfield on Friday but while the temperature dropped, the standards of Juergen Klopp's side certainly did not as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both struck twice in a 5-0 thrashing of relegated Huddersfield Town.

Liverpool kept the pressure up on Premier League title rivals Manchester City, moving to the summit on 91 points, two more than City, but Pep Guardiola's side will regain top spot with a win at Burnley on Sunday.

Despite the wind, rain and freezing temperature, Liverpool had little trouble collecting their seventh league win in a row and with a trip to Newcastle United and home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers to come, Juergen Klopp's side could well keep that streak going until the end of the season.

Ninety one points was enough to win 20 of the 27 Premier League titles and Klopp's side could end the campaign with just a solitary league defeat to go with several other records -- but none of that will count for much if Pep Guardiola's side do not drop points in their three remaining matches.

"Ninety one points. Wow, that's crazy. It's only possible because the boys play like they do, the attitude they have," Klopp said.

"You cannot ask for luck or destiny, you have to work for it. We said we want to write our own history, that's what we're doing. The boys are outstanding," he added.

Liverpool, who face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday, were without forward Roberto Firmino who was rested due to a slight muscle strain.

But Klopp's side do not lack for firepower even without their Brazilian striker.

Salah and Mane now have 21 and 20 goals each this season -- making them the top two scorers in the Premier League.

Early Goal

It took 14 seconds for Liverpool to go in front with Huddersfield defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic giving the ball away to Salah just outside the box and the Egyptian fed Naby Keita&nbsp;who slotted home off the inside of the post.

Mane headed in the second in the 23rd minute, meeting a trademark Andy Robertson cross from the left after Virgil Van Dijk had started the move with a surge out from the back.

On the stroke of halftime, Salah put the game beyond Huddersfield when he latched on to a long pass forward from Trent Alexander-Arnold and knocked the ball past the advancing Jonas Lossl.

Huddersfield, who opted against massed defence and tried to be positive, started the second half in determined fashion, creating three promising openings, but Liverpool soon took back control.

Mane scored his second and Liverpool's fourth in the 66th minute, heading in a deep cross from Jordan Henderson and he went close to a hat-trick in the 78th minute when he headed a Xherdan Shaqiri cross against the post.

Salah made it 5-0 with a simple close-range tap-in from a low Robertson cross.

"All in all it was great, a really brilliant performance," said Klopp. "Composure and everything that you need was there. So really happy.

"It's obviously an outstanding group of players, who did well against a Huddersfield side who are much better than this result shows. They had proper counter-attacks so we needed to be patient and we scored wonderful goals".

To add to a very positive evening, midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returned to action as a substitute, his first appearance since suffering a knee injury a year ago.

Winter returned to Anfield on Friday but while the temperature dropped, the standards of Juergen Klopp's side certainly did not as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both struck twice in a 5-0 thrashing of relegated Huddersfield Town.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane send Liverpool top - for now

Manchester United are confident they will retain the services of Paul Pogba and finish in the top four, the Premier League club's boss <a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=Ole+Gunnar+Solskjaer">Ole Gunnar Solskjaer</a> said.&nbsp;

United sacked Jose Mourinho in December when the club were 11 points adrift of the top four. Solskjaer has been reeling in their rivals but after some poor games recently United are sixth with three games to go, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Solskjaer was unbeaten in his first 12 league games in charge but United have since lost four of their last six matches, handing Arsenal and Chelsea the advantage in the race for the top four.

Midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid by British media in recent weeks, but Solskjaer said he believed the France international, who has a contract until 2021, would stay at Old Trafford next season.

Solskjaer also confirmed goalkeeper David De Gea would keep his place against Chelsea despite going a recent rough patch. The Spanish goalkeeper has not kept a clean sheet in his last 12 games in all competitions.

Solskjaer expects Paul Pogba to be Manchester United player next season

Liverpool will smash the 90-point barrier in the Premier League for the first time unless already-relegated Huddersfield Town produce the biggest shock of the season and avoid defeat at Anfield on Friday.

Victory will also put Liverpool back on top of the table with two games remaining, although the recurring pattern of this most extraordinary title race will likely mean that Manchester City take it back two days later at Burnley.

A seventh successive win for Liverpool would put them on 91 points, five more than their best Premier League haul and a higher total than that of 20 previous title winners since 1992.

Yet the growing fear on Anfield is that they could accumulate 97 -- more than any other side in Premier League history apart from Manchester City last season -- and still be waiting for their first league title since 1990.

City boss Pep Guardiola said on Wednesday after their 2-0 win at Manchester United, an 11th successive victory, that both clubs deserve to win the title and few people would disagree.

The harsh reality is that only one will have that honour and the pendulum has swung towards City.

Liverpool, who face a two-legged Champions League semi-final against Barcelona in the midst of the titanic battle with City, visit Newcastle United in their penultimate league game before finishing at home to a dangerous Wolverhampton Wanderers side.

After the trip to Burnley on Sunday, City, knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Tottenham Hotspur, host Leicester City eight days later and finish at Brighton &amp; Hove Albion.

NO CELEBRATIONS

When City scaled the trickiest hurdle in their run-in at Old Trafford there were no mass celebrations by the players, nor Guardiola who knows his team will almost certainly have to win their last three games to retain the title.

"We are on 89 points and Liverpool 88 points and it's tough because there are still three games to play, it is incredible," the Spaniard said. "We still need to win our remaining games, starting on Sunday at Turf Moor."

While the title battle rages on, the scrap for third and fourth spots which bring Champions League plces next season is equally absorbing -- mainly because the four protagonists have been throwing away points like confetti.

Tottenham's last-gasp 1-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday left them in the driving seat and they will host West Ham United on Saturday three points above Chelsea, who travel to sixth-placed Manchester United knowing victory would almost certainly knock Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side out of the equation.

Fifth-placed Arsenal, one point behind Chelsea and reeling after consecutive defeats at home to Crystal Palace and on the road at Wolverhampton Wanderers, travel to Leicester City.

In the fight to avoid relegation, Cardiff City will regard a trip to already-demoted Fulham as an opportunity to crank up the pressure on a Brighton side whose season has hit the buffers.

Victory for 18th-placed Cardiff on Saturday would put them level on points with Brighton who host Newcastle United later.

Brighton also have a greatly superior goal difference but have gone six games without scoring, losing five of them, and after Newcastle they visit Arsenal and host Manchester City.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton knows a clash against the north-east club he formerly managed could be crucial, saying: "We have to get a result, whichever way we do it."

Liverpool eye 97-point total but it may not be enough

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has asked his players to be calm after their <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/manchester-city-take-big-step-towards-title-with-derby-win-at-united-213323">crucial win over Manchester United</a> on Wednesday that boosted their Premier League title bid.&nbsp;

With three games left in the season, Manchester City have moved one point ahead of Liverpool and will become the first team to retain the Premier League title since Manchester United in 2009 if the team wins its last three games - against Burnley, Leicester and Brighton.&nbsp;

Guardiola said, "It's time to be calm. Don't read (the newspapers), don't switch on the TV, don't listen to the radio. Be calm, recuperate, sleep good and go to Burnley on Sunday."&nbsp;

Though Guardiola said that Liverpool, who have lost just once this season, are also worthy champions.&nbsp;

"Both teams deserve the title. But it can be just one. The team that is going to lose can't have regrets because they have given everything," he said.&nbsp;

"If we drop points and they have the chance to win, they are going to win the (rest of their) games," he added.&nbsp;

Pep also hailed his players as they have responded to the bitter blow of exiting from the Champions League.&nbsp;

City went out of the European competition on away goals to Tottenham Hotspur in dramatic fashion last week but dusted themselves off to beat Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday before Wednesday's 2-0 Manchester derby win over rivals United.&nbsp;

"That is the most incredible detail for these players. You cannot imagine how tough it was to go out of this beautiful (Champions League) competition when we felt it was there, it was really, really tough," Guardiola said.&nbsp;

"We had Tottenham at home, it wasn’t the best performance, but we had the sunshine, to stay alive in the Premier League... the pressure we had and the way we reacted. That is sometimes more important.&nbsp;

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola requests players to be 'calm' after derby win

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that his side still hopes for the top four finish in the English Premier League despite <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/manchester-city-take-big-step-towards-title-with-derby-win-at-united-213323">losing the Manchester derby</a>.&nbsp;

Manchester City kept the destination of the league title in its own hands by beating Man Utd 2-0 on Wednesday to climb back above Liverpool with three games left this season.&nbsp;

United slumped to a seventh loss in its last nine matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thanks to strikes in a 12-minute span from Bernardo Silva and substitute Leroy Sane, with United goalkeeper David De Gea partially at fault for both goals.&nbsp;

While Solskjaer said, "Three games away from the end of the season, we're three points behind the top four. No one would have given us a chance two or three months ago and it's been a massive effort by everyone."

"My job to make sure that I have a group, and a squad, and a team that will do that for us. That's my job to find out who wants to sacrifice enough to be here," he added.&nbsp;

The Norwegian said that his side needs to "stick together" and focus on the upcoming matches.&nbsp;

"I'm concerned about the lack of results that we get and in times like these it's not time to point fingers at anyone and blame anyone. We've got to stick together and the strange reality is that we're still in with a shout for the top four," said Solskjaer.&nbsp;
